It was a really nice experience, it was good weather, and the guides and staff were really nice. It was just very hard to communicate with them, which was a bit difficult at times, but overall we had a fun time.

What a fabulous day. Well organised by the operator. I did the full package excursion while my wife had a Spa day at the hotel! I think I had the better deal! 3 snorkelling sites - Manta, Gamat and Crystal Bays. Was lucky enough to swim with two Manta Rays and be able to touch and stroke one of them as it passed so close to me, Saw sea turtle at Crystal Bay. Lunch was okay and included in the deal. The 3 sightseeing sights (Kelingking, Billabong and Broken beaches) were truly breathtaking and loved it. As a special treat got to see a pod of dolphins near the harbour on the way back to Bali! Highly recommend this trip! Best advice is take an underwater camera! I’m kicking myself at having left mine back home in the UK!!

The trip was well organized from a logistics point of view - there are hundreds of people from various tour companies here - the snorkeling was not that great compared to the pictures - the second stop the boat left me behind - they dud not do a head count - came back to get me because other passengers told them I was missing - this was unacceptable-the drive around the island is on very rough windy narrow roads - and be prepared with walking shoes to see the view points - they are not close to where the cars need to park and the terrain is rocky and up and down hills

The only good thing about this day was we came back alive. The day started with bad weather which fair enough, was nobody fault. We went out snorkelling. The staff wasn’t giving a fly fck about the guests in the water, one person will jump out with a go pro on every spot for few quick snaps and go on the boat just to chat. Considering the ocean was so rough this morning and it was so hard to snorkle, there was no one looking after the guests. The whole experience was super rushed. Last snorkelling spot one lady got dragged close to the cliffs, she lost one of her fins while panicking for her life, and the whole crew sat on the boat whistling to her. Nobody went to help her, the “captain” drifted the boat to open sea, which made it hard for the group in the water to get out as they had to swim in the huge waves chasing the boat. Absolute joke. The day didn’t get any better on land. We went to have lunch that was way below basic. First stop was Kelinking beach (the most famous place in the area) where we got to spend SEVEN MINUTES. EXACTLY SEVEN MINUTES and we were shouted to leave and go to the next cluster of “spots” where we sat longer but they were absolutely boring. Driver didn’t speak single word of english. I did more snorkelling the day before with someone else and the difference was unbelievable. Just ignore this provider EL REY. avoid at All cost!

Long day but great to see Manta

Very well coordinated with the guides and everyone was very friendly. Be prepared for a 12 to 14 hour long day. For us this was too long. It was so good to see the manta and coral. We had hoped that we could explore the island on our own however you are guided throughout. The roads here are very broken and it felt like we were 4wd in mini vans for most of the day. There was many hours of driving to see each location. The views were nice however I think we would have been satisfied with a shorter day and just doing the boat trip. The lunch was average too. Be sure to bring snacks with you for the day.

The beginning was good, pick up was on time. But out of 3 snorkelling places, we snorkelled only in 2. There were poor shower, no place to change clothes, no lockers or shelfs to put bag. The tour guide had poor english, was hard to communicate. We visited only 1 location out of 3/4. :( Overall, was very sad and disappointed. Not worth the money.

Weather conditions were atrocious; even though the tour operator can't control the meteo, they should have cancelled the tour for that day for safety reason. I have never felt so insecure on a boat (45min/1hr between Bali - Nusa Penida). Coming from an Island myself, I have done a lot of boat in rough conditions, but never experienced anything like this... Every single person on that boat felt the same way, with a number of people crying and having anxiety. Snorkeling and the land tour were also catastrophic due to the weather conditions, with a number of customers hurting themselves. Lastly, the lunch which is included in the price was simply a joke - no water included with your lunch, atrocious food (taste wise and quality wise) - matter of fact I was actually sick the next day... I will say that the staff was very nice and friendly, but I think that the tour operator has zero consideration for their customers... Extremely disappointed and would recommend avoiding.

Worst guide-photographer

The first part of the tour with the snorkeling went pretty smooth even though we didn't see any manta rays. The second part the Island tour was a disappointment. Everything was very fast forward and the guide is the worst photographer ever. I booked the tour especially for the Kelingking beach (T-Rex). It took a shot of me with the T-Rex aligned perfectly in my back and you couldn't even see it at all if you didn't knew where the photo was taken. Once I checked the photo I waited for my turn again and asked him to take a photo so you could see that I'm at the T-Rex. The photo wasn't much better, still only half of the T-Rex was visible. I'm so pissed off because of one of my bucket list things ended up so badly. The only positive thing is that he has driving skills, and he should stick to just drive, not taking photos.

There was no organization at all when we arrived. Trying to find the right group each time for the snorkeling then boat and then land tour was all very chaotic and confusing. I’ve snorkeled in Fiji, Hawaii, and the Philippines and all the spots we were taken to in Bali were the worst I’ve seen.

Re: Shared snorkelling only tour 19/08/2024 The good: Transport and communication to and from Sanur beach and the boat ride to Nusa Penida. worked fine despite being a bit chaotic. Our driver was an hour late to pick us up from our hotel. However, Viator kept us informed.The meal and drink we got at the beach club at the end of the snorkelling trip was good. Not So Good: The tour boat was very very overcrowded. They travelled out to Manta Bay at break-neck speed over rough water with huge swells. Little to hold onto and squashed together. The choppy conditions that day meant we were slipping all over the boat. Manta Bay should have been a no go that day. Swells and current were huge, would have been very easy for swimmers to be swept away. Wall Point had the most sea life. The stops were very quick. At peak season, snorkelling spots are crowded. There were no towels for us at the end of the snorkelling tour. The toilets at the local restaurant were not maintained, some were completely clogged. Advice: 1. Pack light and bring waterproof bags + cases for your phone/ valuables. 2. Check the forecast on water conditions (current, swells etc) before booking. 3. Wear secure waterproof shoes or sandals. 4. Microfibre / packable towels. You cannot rely on getting a towel at the end for the shower. 5. If you get sea sick, do not eat JUST before you go on the snorkelling tour boat. Take sea sickness medication (if needed) and water. We had a passenger lose his entire breakfast while on this tour. 6. Take some small notes with you (i.e 5000 notes) if you need to use the toilet at the registration office at Pulau Nusa Penida.

Well organised and run but unfortunately didn’t deliver well on sightings

While we had a great time snorkelling, The experience was let down by the long car rides in between. The tour was very well run by the El Ray team and sub snorkelling team including the provisions of water and the photos which we received 2 days later. We went to 3 snorkelling spots but didn’t view anything at manta bay. The boat stopped quite far out and the water was quite cloudy, not even many fish were visible. The next 2 spots were much clearer and the snorkelling better. Lots of fish at the corral spot and saw 1 turtle at the second spot. The 40 min drive after that to the lunch spot was a killer. The driver was lovely but on a tight schedule, the trip was let down by the long distance to each spot. He did insist to take a bunch of photos of us which came out great. Our group tried to make the most of it but would have preferred to just do the snorkelling as it was very hot and you couldn’t swim at any of the beaches. Perhaps if the boat was able to drop people off closer to kiepling side, This would save a lot of driving time to lunch and the other island spots. We were starving by lunch and made good use of the snacks we took along. Really recommend you do the same. The food was ok, vey local rural type of place, the food was basic but well made.

Would not recommend, choose just snorkeling trip.

First part of the trip (snorkeling) was amazing. Expect on one spot we stopped for 10 minutes. That was strange. Lots of activities but not enough time. At the start we lost 45 mons since they put us on a tour an hour later than it was in the program.

Very full of day! Please take in consideration Bali time and travel for getting to and from places Pickup was supposed to be 6:30 and driver was almost an hour late to collect us and by the time he collect other guests we had missed the 8:30 ferry we were booked onto and had to get the 9am one which wasn’t bad but had a knock on effect throughout the day Snorkelling was again a slow start but once out the boys on the boat were fantastic and super on hand to take pics with the go pro and points out animals to you . Our tour guide Ekka for the island part was fantastic from making sure we were on schedule (which was a bit rushed due to delay) there to take picture was cracking jokes and provided a great atmosphere for the afternoon Bali traffic to the port was hectic and then from the port back to our accommodation again very long due to traffic All around minus the delays was a really great day, would’ve liked to go down to the beach at Nusa Penida but didn’t have time Just jam packed from start to finish

Good trip, maybe a bit hasty for some people, but if you have limited time while you'd like to see most sights on the islands, it's good. There are lots of tourist, but they managed the administrate the groups, there was no chaos. The food wasn't extraordinary but no problem, tasted good. In theory some people saw mantas, we didn't because we were looking at the ocean floor. Nice fishes, sea turtles, sea plants, good spots.

I enjoyed the snorkelling, the guides really tried to find the best spot to see Mantas that day. Saw 1-2. I think they’d be better to see scuba diving rather than snorkelling and the water was stirred up and a bit murky. Went to three other spots which had nice fish and coral. There wasn't lots of time and freedom to adventure in the different spots, due to many boats, we had to stay close to our boat during the trip so we didnt get lost. The island tour was not good, all places are packed, and you are at the spots for like 5-10 minutes, where you take a photo to say you have done it. Beautiful locations but bad, rushed and chaotic atmospheres. I found the whole tour it to be poorly organised and theres a lack of clarity to what is happening next, what to expect and what to so. I travelled from Ubud which I regret because it meant there was more travelling than activities and the transport to and from Sanur was horrible. If you really want to see the island I recommend getting a private guide to take you outside of peak hours. Mineral water was not provided and you had to carry cash to buy it wherever you could.

I don’t know where to start. The speedboat that took us to Nusa Penida had 140-150 people on it ( not 20 as described). I don’t know whether they spilled the fuel on board, or what was it, but we thought that we will pass out on board because of it smell. It made me feel so dizzy because we had to inhale it for an hour. The changing/ showering process before the next boat took longer than we spent on the island going through the viewpoints. We had at least 5 different guides and all of them had limited english, but at the same time were so rude! We had to RUN around the island! One guide even lost girls from our group and they had to figure out how to find us! They also annoyed everyone by asking to take pictures at EVERY SPOT we went. They said that their boss required pictures of each guest everywhere we go. If you want to enjoy the island, just go on your own or use a different operator. Not recommended.

Regarding the speedboat (public boat) the capacity only 110 passengers. Sorry for this misunderstanding. What we mean is that the capacity for the snorkeling boat is 20-25 people. Regarding the driver/guide who was a bit rushed, we checked with our driver, and he said that it doesn't make you rush the tour, but just wants to manage your time during the tour and our driver has also taken you to each object and helped you take photos. Firstly, there were only 3 snorkeling spots and when we realized it before the tour started and texted this situation to the tour operator they stated that: "2 points of 4 spots are very close to each other that is why the authorized person mentioned as 3 points but actually we are going to swim in 4 points". However it wasnt true. All staff on the tour and every activity on the tour was carried out with great hurry and rush. Despite the fact that there were only 3 snorkel points, we were able to swim a maximum of 15 minutes in each spot. And in land trip they didnt give us even a free moment to enjoy the view. Because of the terrible roads and trafficjam we wasted a whole day in car. We could use the money and time for better activities.

As you know, now is the high season and many tourists are interested in visiting Nusa Penida Island. This causes the roads to become increasingly congested and the time available becomes limited. Not a good experience; disappointing and unsafe.

The pick up driver arrived on time, though he sat outside smoking and me and the others from my hotel had to go look for him. He didn’t speak much English so instructions were vague. When we stopped he took us across a busy street to the El Ray tour office - the outfit that without mentioning the name on Viator, did the tour. We were herded inside to pay or get a receipt if we pre-paid, and then got a piece of tape to put on our shirts with the number of the tour we chose. After sitting and waiting for 30 minutes, we were (with dozens of others) were told to follow a guy with the El Ray flag on to the harbor and the boat that would take us to the island. The ride was ok, though we were told where to sit and I was in the back with no window or fresh air. Thankfully I don’t get seasick, but it was stifling hot until they opened the back door to let air in once we got underway. Once at the island, we were herded out with hundreds of others then walked a rocky, dirt path to a crowded place where we were to get fins and masks. Again, no clear instructions and the bathroom and changing area were pretty gross. We were then sorted by the number on our stickers and herded on to a small speed boat. 23 people and no life jackets! Very crowded. Fast and bumpy ride for 20 minutes, and several got sick. Important note: eat before you get on a boat. You’ll get even more sick if you don’t. So with that loveliness going on, we finally stopped at first snorkel place. Here, they finally gave out life jackets. Not much to see underwater, though one of the guys from the company swam around and under us and took pictures of us with his go-pro. NOTE: NEVER received promised photograph which they supposedly sent to what they called “your booker” and I guess was El Ray. Two more stops - all very quick of/on the boat into the water and hardly time to enjoy the swim/snorkel. Those who got sick stayed on the boat, some still were throwing up! But those who got in the water did see some nice coral and parrot fish at last stop, the aptly named Crystal Bay. Got back to fin and mask place, turned them in and changed/showered in funky outdoor area. Then 5 of us were called to go with a driver for a tour of the island and lunch. Basically, it was a ton of driving up and down narrow roads and hills. Some pretty, some not. NO commentary from the driver on what we were seeing/village names/any cultural mentions…nothing. He played some music on the radio and… that’s it. And that got annoying actually. Nice guy but also limited English. I was hoping for a little more info about the island and life there… nope, nothing. Lunch stop was at a place that had other package tour folks - only a few choices included and the extras our table ordered (to be paid for separately) never arrived. Probably ok cause well, see the picture of the chicken cutlet and rice. If we weren’t so hungry 6-1/2 hours after leaving Sanur, it would have been inedible. One of the other choices was a plate of French fires, lol so don’t expect anything fancy. Drive continued to several spots where we stopped - all crowded with people looking for an instagram photo. Pretty, yes. But the one I’ve pictured was a steep walk down hill and then down foot high cement steps with no railings. Not easy if you’re older and/or not in great shape. With the distance we had to go and all the traffic near the harbor, we barely made the ferry back to Sanur. Seriously, they had pulled up the ropes and we had to run down the dock and were the last to board - thankfully they waited for us. They gave me a seat by a window this time and a little bottle of coke, so the return ride to Sanur was actually pleasant. Do not recommend this at all if you want to have a nice, relaxing time. Find another way to enjoy this island or other places in Bali.

And also after you arrive there, of course it will be even more crowded and several fast boats have the same departure time. Especially now that it's high season. As you ordered this trip was shared trip, you will join with other customers. We never mention that photos are included in your order (you can check on what's included), but we always send them as a surprise without any extra charge. Considering the large number of guests and we need more time to select each photos to be sent. you need to be patient to wait the photos. we also offer packages for private tour, so you will feel more comfortable and enjoy your trip to Nusa Penida and of course the price is a little more expensive. It was nice to have snorkeling in the morning. However, the island tour in the afternoon was a bit in a rush. We just had maybe 10 -15 mins to takes a few photos in each spot. Having said that, it is still a good idea to explore the island the first time.

I think tourists have ruined the travelling thing for everyone else with the Instagram, influencer stuff. The locals and companies think we're all the same. So what I can tell you if you want to see Penida, stay there with a vehicle or a private driver don't book a 10 hour visit. Your time will be in majority waiting, travelling by boat and car. The visit at all is 2 hours of snorkeling and half hour of sightseeing. We were picked up at 7am and the boat at Sanur Pier was at 9AM, we arrived at 9h30 at Nusa Penida, waited for instructions and the gear to enter to another boat for snorkeling at the 3 in our case 4 snorkeling points. We went exactly to the same points we've already went when we stayed at Nusa Lembongan but it was less crowded and we saw one manta when we did it before. The water was full of trash this time maybe because it rained a lot the day before. Then 2 hours later back to the pier take a fast shower change clothes and go for a 45 mn car transfer to the restaurant. Food wasn't bad and service was fast. It was in the middle of nowhere but near by car from Kilingking cliff. It's a bumpy ride over and over the guide is hurried because you will have to board at 5PM to get back to Sanur. It's not their fault they think we only there to take a photo ( instagramable) and not look and absorb the view. At a certain point, I had to stop the guide and tell him I didn't wanted more photo l wanted to look at the view. He smiled at me as if it was the first time he hear something like that. And then we stoped for a few minutes to look and explained to me some things about the place. But as I said. I blame the modern world of showing where you've been instead of enjoying where you've been. You should try to make a shorter tour with " no photos, just enjoy the place" although it will be difficult since when you're there you will see the typical dressed " influencers" waiting and hoarding the place for a long time. Not even looking to the surrounding.

Accordance with your order if you choose to join a group tour, sometimes there is a delay in arriving in Sanur due to traffic jams and this causes you to have to use a fast boat on the second schedule at 9 am.
