Itinerary

See a different side of Bali far from the typical beaches and tourist markets on this off-road adventure into the island's dramatic interior. It's the perfect opportunity to get a taste for the lush natural beauty and centuries-old traditions that characterize life for many Balinese residents.

Start your 4WD adventure with pickups from select hotels in Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua, and Sanur. Check with the tour operator for the exact schedule. The continue in your off-road vehicle out into the backroads of Bail.

Stop by a stone quarry, where you observe the large stones as they're chiseled from the nearby rock faces into the raw material used for the island's temples and shrines. Keep your eyes peeled as you travel through the island, as you're sure to observe numerous hand-carved deities strategically placed in locales throughout the drive. Observe the interesting mix of modern and traditional architecture used to construct buildings in the more remote villages. Then stop for a break at a farm, where you sip on tea as you take in the lush fields growing coffee, vanilla, and cocoa.

Drive further into the nearby mountains, observing the shift in temperature and scenery that occurs with the climb in altitude. Continue through thick groves of bamboo as you make your way to the sacred Batukaru Mountain. Upon arrival, stop for a stroll to a nearby jungle camp, where you have lunch at its restaurant. Take in the incredible vistas from your lunch spot as you dine on Balinese cuisine along with your choice of tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, or coffee.

Following lunch, stop by some of Bali's ancient hot mineral baths. Hear from your guide about the history and contemporary use of the baths, the popularity of which persists to this day. Finish your tour with a return trip and drop-off at your hotel.

Don't take this tour! We expected much more than what we got. 1. The guide is not motivated and fully stressed 2. You don't get to see the Uluwatu temple and the dance lasts more than 1 hour, pretty boring dance and full of monotony. 3. The romantic dinner is at the beach but in a very cheap rest.

An enjoyable day out but not without incident. The drive shaft broke on the 4 x4 and we had to wait for a replacement. You certainly get to see rural Bali and the lunch up in the rain forest was superb. The guides were not very chatty though and hitting a policeman on a scooter on the way home was not a good way to finish! He was not amused and a good job we dont speak the lingo. But we did have fun.

Driver was polite and eager to please. Visited a real Balinese home where people were geniine and welcoming. The cascading rice paddy fields were amazing but the highlight was the restsurant cradled high up in the rainforest. Best setting and best food we had in Bali.
