This is a marvellous way to see the North of Mauritius and our guide, Hans will tailor your experience depending on your wishes and needs. Hans speaks 6 languages and was fluent in English for us. He is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. We could not have asked for more.

Sights were fairly interesting, although our guide kept getting into to road rage arguments, at one point driving neck and neck with another car to argue. Would recommend a different company for the same tour.

Hans was prompt picking us up and was flexible with the schedule throughout the day. He gave us as much or as little time as we wanted at each location. He was polite, friendly and knowledgeable...and his English was great. He also took us to a fantastic local restaurant. We would highly recommend Hans and this tour!

…but he won’t hold your hand. Hans will drive you to every place on the itinerary, tell you a bit about it, and answer all your questions before and after, but he won’t go in with you. I think of this as more of a semi-independent (rather than a guided) tour. You have the opportunity to look around at your own pace and make your own discoveries. Only complaint I had was with lunch. The first restaurant we tried had a line out the door, the second had no line but service was slow and the food not so great. I recommend skipping the lunch stop and going straight to L’Aventure du Sucre (maybe 10 minutes away) and getting something from their restaurant (you can google it to check out the menu) and maybe they won’t charge you an extra 5% if you pay with a credit card like the restaurant did. Speaking of credit cards, they’re ok to use at the Botanical Garden (MUR 300) and L’Aventure du Sucre (MUR 1200, which includes an unenthusiastic rum tasting) without a surcharge.
