Pick-up at your hotel (or other preferred location) is not guaranteed if you are outside of our specified pick-up area. During high season we reserve the right to direct you to another central meeting point even if your hotel is within the pick-up zone. This is to shorten the pick-up process so you and other guests don't have to sit around in the car for an unacceptably long time.
Itinerary
Depart from your centrally located Stockholm hotel in a comfortable vehicle and begin your cultural journey to the heart of Sweden’s captivating countryside. Stop first to view the ancient Viking causeway of Täby and admire the runic stones that once comprised a Viking parliament. Return to the minivan and venture to Granby, a quaint and archaic settlement that dates back to 400 AD; decipher the ancient inscriptions upon the Granbyhällen, a colossal rock decorated with swirling runes, then revitalize with lunch at a local eatery (own expense).
Next, continue through the verdant beauty of the Lunda region to Sigtuna, an ancient settlement founded in the 10th century. Stroll the atmospheric streets of Sweden’s oldest town and browse bespoke boutiques for special souvenirs.
Return to the minivan and travel through more lush landscapes to Gamla Uppsala, a small village replete with royal burial mounts and relics that attest to the richness of Viking culture. See some of Sweden’s most significant scared sites then enjoy some relaxed independent exploration in new Uppsala, where the country’s oldest Cathedral resides.
Finally, return to your minivan and relax during the journey back to Stockholm.

Guide was right on time to pick us up at the hotel. He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. It would have been more pleasant if he had turned on some heat in the van. It was 50-55 degrees throughout the cloudy day with some cold wind so a warm van would have made it more comfortable. Overall a good experience otherwise.

We really enjoyed the tour, transportation and guide. Enjoyed seeing different parts of Sweden and hearing the viking stories. Guide was interesting and cared for all guests well. Get of the City and see the sites!

Wonderful history and knowledgeable guide. There was a lot of driving and after seeing so many run stones, the shine lost its luster. We saw some wonderful buildings, churches and learned a lot of history. It was a good tour although the driving combined with difficulty understanding the guide took a bit out of the experience.

Tons of standing, lots of outside activity (meaning, dress appropriately with rain gear and comfortable shoes), and probably 2x as much detail as needed. Tour felt far too long. It's virtually ALL about Vikings with too little time in Upsala.

Yes It is a real history tour. When its bad weather it may seem like a lot details but a lovely sunny day you enjoy the stops a lot more and have a relaxing time listening to the guide. Thanks for trying and hope to see you one one of our other tours in future.

We loved this trip. Our guide Urban was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, great sense of humor, fun story teller and just all around the perfect guide for us. We loved seeing the runes and churches and we enjoyed the coffee stops and lunch break. The day was over before we knew it.

This was our first tour with Viator it was an amazing I uploaded just on of hundreds of pictures every site we traveled to was better that the last. Well organized tour that gives a memorable exposure to the Viking and the Christian eras. The coffee break was a very nice touch. But the best element was our guide, Arvin or Erwin (I am spelling it wrong). He is very knowledgeable, considerate and spirited and made this tour extra enjoyable.

Our small group trip from Stockholm was led by our driver/ tour manager Urban, who provided a very informative and interesting commentary on the various Viking and other sites we visited during the day, particular highlights of which were the small picturesque historic town of Sigtuna and old Uppsala.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and feel we learnt a lot about the Viking Age in Scandinavia and would highly recommend this trip to others.

Excellent tour! Ver knowledgeable and well run. Just the right amount of time in each town, area or Rune site. We really liked the organization of the tour. Van was comfy. We stopped for a coffee and rhubarb tart at an old and very nice and big dairy farm. Very nice company too!
Loved Sigtuna and Uppsala.

A full day trip giving a great overview of Swedish Viking history with multiple stops over 9 hours. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. My only comment was they take up to 16 passengers and the van can really only accommodate 15 comfortably. We were the last pick up and were very cramped in the last row with another couple. Overall though a very nice day.

This was a great day trip out of Stockholm, getting to view the Swedish countryside, Viking runes in various places, a number of churches, the town of Sigtuna and the city of Uppsala. Angus was a terrific guide--very knowledgeable and witty. He was also sensitive to the needs of those on our tour (13), including dietary needs when we lunched and ample restroom breaks.

I think this tour comes down to your guide. The destinations are good but our guide spent far too much time talking at each site. If you like runestones and churches they are definitely covered on this tour.

This tour is all about looking at 17 rocks, and 13 churches. You really don't get much "vicking" experience. The whole group was annoyed after about the 4th rock and we could barely understand the tour guide. I didn't even wear my headset because I could not understand him. Furthermore, the tour is 9 hours long and the van did not have charge ports to charge our phones. This is how we take pictures.
I would not recommend this tour, for the price.

We are sad that you had this experience. We are however a bit confused by the numbers of runic stones and churches that you list. Our tour has selected a variation of the best preserved Viking sights in the Stockholm region. The tour visits grave sites, a Viking bridge, a viking parliament/assembly, viking house foundations, medieval chuch ruins, the great mounds of Uppsala, Uppsala cathedral, a Swedish farm and an historic wooden town called Sigtuna.

Fantastic day out of the city with Urban. He knows so much about Swedish, Viking, and world history, and he teaches you all about it in an engaging way. The in ear devices worked perfectly and were an upgrade to many group tours Ive been on previously. I do wish we had more time in Sigtuna since that is also the lunch stop, but realistically I understand that that'd either take the tour over 9 hours or cut something else out. Truly just inspiration for an additional trip!
Highly recommend if you have an interest in history and want to get out of the city for a day! Just be prepared for a long day, bring water, good shoes, and a charged phone.

The tour was a no show. I indicated the hotel I was staying at for pick up, which was in the list of options. I received a confirmation for pickup at my hotel. The tour guide never showed. If the location for pick up was changed, I should have been phoned. Viator provides no phone number or email to register a complaint for a refund. No recourse.

This was a wonderful day! Angus picked us up at our hotel, very friendly on time. Transportation was very nice and comfortable headsets so we could hear while he was narrating and giving information while he was taking us place to place. This was a great trip! It was fascinating to get out of the city to see some of the Swedish countryside and to learn about Viking history.
The best part of the tour was our guide, Carl. He was extremely informative and has a great sense of humor - Dad jokes aside 🤣
