All central hotels, ports and other accommodations in central Stockholm, but not Nynäshamn harbour (if you enter Nynäshamn we will give you meeting directions to a pick up place in Stockholm city) If your tour departs from the cruise pier: If your ship arrives at S165 and S167 STADSGÅRDEN: Please walk a few hundred meters away from your ship while following the BLUE/GREEN lines. Go past the fences and guards, and your guide will wait there, with a sign saying "Viking Tours" on an A4-paper. NOTE: If you enter any other harbour number in STADSGÅRDEN than S165 or S167 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour. If your ship arrives at F638 FRIHAMNEN: Upon debarking the ship, please go through the terminal building. Once you go past the sliding doors (everyone else that departs the ship will walk out this way), the guide will meet you just outside the sliding doors. The guide will be holding an A4-paper saying "Viking Tours". NOTE: If you enter any other harbour number in FRIHAMNEN than F638 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour. If your ship arrives at V523 VÄRTAHAMNEN: Walk from your ship towards the tourist buses, which is less than 10 meters from the ship hull. The guide will wait for you at the tourist bus area, near the buses, with an A4-paper, which says "Viking Tours." The guide will then direct you to the tour vehicle. NOTE: If you enter any other harbour number in VÄRTAHAMNEN than V523 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour. If your Ship Arrives at NYNÄSHAMN: NO PICK UP INCLUDED HERE. That due to it being 50km away from Stockholm central station. We recomend you to contact and with us decide a meeting place in Central Stockholm. We will give directions how to go there either by train or that take one of the cruise busses going from the harbour into Stockholm. If you are unsure of which pier your ship is arriving at, please check with the cruise line.

Gabrial was funny, entertaining and hospitable. There was something I wanted to do that was not on the tour and he arranged it for me which was really great.
Olof was a fantastic guide! He is so knowledgeable and it was evident that he enjoyed sharing Sweden’s Viking history with us. Highly recommend this tour!
This is a completely immersive experience for anyone who wants to separate fact from movie fiction about the history, culture and lore of the Viking age. Our guide was an expert historian with deep knowledge of the Vikings and dozens of fascinating anecdotes and stories that helped us put this period of history into perspective. This tour exceeded expectations and we saw and learned many things at every stop that made this one of our best days traveling.

Communication was great and pickup at the hotel was on-time. Gabriel is an excellent knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed the entire day. Lunch and the town of Sigtuna was a great time. His explanation of the runestones was clear and interesting.

Olaf was a really good guide. He shared lots of details about the runes, their history and how the land was different then what we see today. Then he was also able to share the history of Sigtuna to explain the evolution of the area from clans to becoming more centralized and Christian. Lastly, he shared the history of Uppsala and could explain about the people buried there even though after the "viking" period it was connected to Sweden becoming unified. I highly recommend this trip as good combination of walking and history. Plus you are getting outside of Stockholm seeing quaint Sigtuna and the larger Uppsala.

This tour provides a wonderful opportunity to get out of Stockholm, see the rural beauty of Sweden and get exposure to the history of Sweden during the heydey of the Vikings. It's a great counterpoint to the city/old-town tours that focus only on historical Stockhom. Our tour guide Calle, was well-versed in Scandanavian midieval history but was just as happy to explain any aspect of Swedish life from ancient to modern-day.
For information, this is a private tour, only two of us participated, and full day so the prices are accordingly higher than the small or large group tours.
I would strongly recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing, customized, personal tour of Swedish history and its gorgeous countryside.

We spent a day touring Viking sites with Nadia. We travel frequently and have been to more countries than I can name. In all that time, we have never had a guide as bright, insightful, and fun as Nadia. She has a Ph.D in anthropology and a deep understanding of many cultures, including the Vikings. She is thoughtful and flexible with a great sense of humor. If you want an unforgetable day you will always remember with a smile on your face spend a tour anywhere in Sweden with Nadia.
While the tour guide was knowledgeable and informative out of 8 hours over 5 spent in the car. Felt like the tour company did not want to follow thru with pick up and dropping off at port and they cut out a planned part of the tour.

Yes, in your case the Sigtuna stop was cut out to get time on the other stops and to make sure you got back to your ship in time due to it being ca 1.5h-2h from the general tour area to Nynäshamn.
There are around 45min distances between Uppsala/old Uppsala and the other stops who than comes with ca 5-10min in between (apart from Sigtuna who is 40min off compare to the lake Vallentuna stops).
This full day tour is, as you write perhaps not the best shore excursion if comming to Nynäshamn harbour (Värtahamnen, Stadsgården and Frihamnen harbour is set inside Stockholm city itself) due to the long transportation to get to Stockholm and back to the ship again. I explained that it would be a lot of time in the car but fully understand your comment and thank you for this reveiw and insight. We don't normaly include Nynäshamn in our pickup or drop off service due to it being around 1h and 50km outside Stockholm city. That have now been made more clear in our decription of the tour.
This was nice, relaxing, and educational! We had a good time as family, and our guide Quentin was very accommodating and knowledgeable. We learned new things, and saw interesting places. There is a lunch stop at your own cost, at town of Sigtuna.
The reason we decided on a driving tour was because my husband has issues with walking, and this was a good option. There was a bit of an issue on scheduling, but was resolved well. Oddly, our guide was a 20-year-old Frenchman with a love for Vikings, who had just started working for the company three weeks before. But he tried his best, and we were amazed at how well he navigated the freeways after only being in the country a limited amount of time. The tour was a little unconventional, which included taking an unknown to him back trail across a forest on the way to see some Viking era-descendant horses, missing the way to a burial mound we've seen several burial mounds in our lives and told him not to worry about it, and speaking only limited English. I'm sure his English is much better now, that he doesn't get lost so often, and that the company coordinates guides with clients in a more orderly manner. Lunch was scheduled for the buffet at a golf club we paid, which initially seemed odd but it was full of traditional Swedish dishes. We saw several runes, but the best thing of the tour was the first stop -- a visit to a farm that was was being run in the same way it would have operated in the Viking era. One of the gentleman living that life was very knowledgeable, very articulate and he and the authentic buildings and practices were the highlight of the this tour. The city of Sigtuna was somewhat interesting, but we may have been burned out on historic churches at the end of our three-week European tour.
The tour was interesting and had a good variety of Viking history and information - things to see and to hear about. There were, of course, the stone runes, but also a farm, a museum, churches, the lovely town of Sigtuna, and a knowledgeable guide. He was not the typical guide who has learned enough to be a freelancer. The guide grew up in the area and has a true interest in the subject matter. It was nice to drive about the country side too.
