This was an amazing way to end off a visit to Split. Sailing from the harbour out past Marjan Hill during a pretty sunset was great. Having a very knowledgeable and experienced captain, who is also a wine connoisseur and very hospitable, made the sailing journey even better. The boat is solid and clean and the entire experience was fantastic. Thank you!

We were really looking forward to our sailboat tour in Split, especially since it was our last night here. Unfortunately, the captain never showed up. After waiting about 20 minutes at the meeting point, I messaged him to check in. He replied saying he had messaged me earlier that day to let me know he couldn’t make it — but I never received any message.
Overall, poor communication and a missed opportunity that left us really disappointed on what should have been a special evening.

NEVER go on this sailboat if you value safety, and even your life. The engine completely died when we were out at the furthest point of our sunset sail. The sailboat has no working lights, on the inside or outside of the boat. And the “captain” never put the mainsail up. I am not sure if the mainsail was broken, or he did not know how to use it. He told us was new to sailing and has only been sailing since COVID. So with no engine and no mainsail, we were marooned in the Adriatic Sea. And with no exterior lights, we were invisible in the dark to the many large vessels coming to and from busy Split Harbor. All while the "captain" was drinking. I am not exaggerating and have included videos of the events of this harrowing cruise.
The worst part was that the “captain” actually told us that he knew the engine was broken, but he didn’t want to pay the 50 Euros it would take to fix it. (He said it was like a tractor?) He also said that he didn’t cancel the cruise because then he would not get our money. He had my son, who has never sailed before, man the tiller the entire cruise while he drank and played on his phone in the cabin. This “captain” is very unprofessional and a scammer.
After the engine died, it took the “captain” almost an hour to get it started again, but it kept dying and an alarm bell keep sounding. To keep the engine going, one guest had to hold a blue rope attached to the engine taught the entire time. My son manned the sailed and the “captain” explained emergency docking procedures to another passenger that would need to assist with the docking. Also, there were no lights anywhere on the inside or outside of the sailboat. So we could have easily been hit by another vessel when we were sitting in the dark in the middle of the Adriatic Sea near the busy split harbor.
When we first started the tour I was a bit concerned when the engine smoked and made a weird noise when we first started the tour at the dock. But it was too late as we were off.
As soon as we were out of the harbor, the captain gave control of the tiller to my son and explained how to work it. My son enjoyed this at first, but was surprised that the “captain” expected him to man tiller for the entire cruise. The “captain” was mostly in the cabin, rarely interacting with guests, frequently on his phone, and drinking. Thankfully the “captain” was paying attention enough to direct my son where to move the rudder so we did not hit the large ferries traveling towards us through the sea.
Halfway through our cruise, when we were at the furthest point from the harbor, the engine quit working. The “captain” tried for almost an hour to get it working again, but could not at first. It got dark on us, which was very dangerous as apparently the boat had no lights at all, for us on the boat, or outside of the boat so that other boats could see us. The Split Harbor has many large vessels that travel to and from it tall day, including cruise ships and car ferries. The “captain” had a head lamp so he could see the engine to work on it. It was the only light on the ship.
He told us the engine wasn’t working. He only had one sail up (the jib sail which is the smaller triangular sail at the front of the boat). He never opened the mainsail, not for the entire cruise. I am not sure if it was also broken, or the “captain” did not know how to use it. And so with only the jib sail up, no engine, and light wind, we were not moving. So we were in a stalled sailboat in the middle of the sea, near the Split Harbor with zero lights so other boats could not even see where our small craft was. We were all worried and asked if he was going to call the coast guard to rescue us. But he said no, he would have to get a tow back to the harbor. Then he said, "I might as well get drunk since we are going to be here for a while" and drank more.
He finally got the engine working slightly, but not well. It kept stopping. To keep the engine going, another passenger had to hold a blue rope attached to the engine and pull on it to keep it taut. The engine was going very slowly, making a horrible sound, and an alarm was constantly sounding. It was terrifying. He told us he wanted to get as close to the shore as possible so that the tow would cost less money. My son was still in charge of the tiller, and “captain” told him to aim for the lighthouse.
Thankfully the wind picked up enough for our jib sail to take us closer to the harbor. However, since the engine was not functioning correctly, the “captain” prepared us for what he called an “emergency landing”. He said he would need at least three of us to help dock. One or two passengers (or the captain) were to jump onto the dock with a rope, attach the rope to the cleat, and then throw the rope back to the boat. My son had to move the tiller in the correct direction, and the passenger holding the blue rope attached to the engine had to let go at the correct time so that the engine would completely stop and we could dock.
AVOID THIS BOAT AND THIS CAPTAIN AT ALL COSTS.

Great day but food poor and not enough snorkelling equipment for guests
Lovely boat. Extremely competent skipper, you could see that as he had to contend with bad weather on the way back. However food was poor. Two of our daughters did not eat the cold veggie burgers in white bun and disappointingly when you are paying nearly £150 each there were not enough flippers to go round and many of the masks were unserviceable. A good day out but I would recommend when the boat stops somewhere go and buy yourself a decent lunch and prior to going check with the owner that he has enough flippers and masks for all guests.

Perfect sailing experience
Absolutely incredible experience! Cozy but fast (if you're lucky with wind) boat, amazing captain, delicious local wine included, really lovely views. We regret that had no time for a full day trip. Loved every minute of that afternoon! Highly recommend

Excellent
Damir made us very welcome and we had a great experience sailing to the beautiful island of Solta, where we picked up lunch, anchored, ate and swam in the amazing blue sea. Damir clearly knows his way around a boat and we felt very confident with him at the helm. He was very personable and friendly - and even dived in the sea to reclaim my hat which was blown off by a gust of wind! Unfortunately we didn't have enough wind to hoist the sails for long, but it was fun motoring anyway and seeing the beautiful Croatian landscape from the sea. And for those reading previous reviews, there were no chipped mugs, just nice smart plastic cups (!) A really great day out. Thanks Damir!

Super fun sunset sailing
We did the sunset sailing tour with friends, and had the whole sailing boat just for ourselves! Jerry was a great skipper and offered us tasty local wine during the cruise. We were allowed to take our own food and drinks with us and play our music, which made the tour even more fun. All in all a great experience!

One of the best things we did while in Croatia!
We booked the sunset cruise just an hour before it was scheduled to leave. We ended up having the boat to ourselves(along with Jerry) for the sunset cruise. I told him that I have always wanted to hoist the main sail and learn how a sailboat works. I basically got a private sailing lesson for about an hour then relaxed with my wife as he sailed us around. He turned the boat just right for some great sunset photos. I would definitely recommend this tour, as it seems very personal and not at all touristy.

You’ll love this fun and relaxing experience onboard a spacious sailboat
We had such a fun day! We sailed with our daughter and a danish family. Our skippers were excellent. They took us to a swim spot with crystal clear blue water which we loved. They provided us with masks and fins. They served us delicious snacks and wine. If you are looking to escape the crowds, cool off from the blazing summer heat and enjoy a relaxing and fun experience this one’s for you!

Best thing we did in Croatia
We had an amazing experience on our half-day sailing trip!! The owner (Jerry) was kind, helpful, and enthusiastic. He is a true expert on sailing, boats, and Croatia. We felt very safe and entertained!! The boat is great with lots of space to move around. This is truly an incredible way to see Split and the surrounding areas from the water!! The owner had delicious snacks and wine available as well as water on hand. We loved our experience sailing in mid-March and look forward to being able to come again in the summer to sail with Split-Croatia-Sailing again!

Highlight of our holiday!
It was an absolute fabulous day! The two are amazing hosts. We stopped at a tiny village for a coffee break, then at another bay for a swim/snorkeling and lunch. As they never take more than 10 guests board, we had plenty of space and room to sunbath and relax. We had 2 babies with us and that also worked out just fine. Long story short- highly recommend for family and friends!

Sun and the moon sailing
This evening offered a really hightened state of being for our group of 6 people. We saw dolphins as soon as we started sailing, the sea was really calm and the full moon and a setting sun complementing each other for the whole time. Surely something magical! The crew was really easygoing and fun as well! Definitelly recommending it when in Split!!

Amazing Sailing Experience
We spent an awesome morning with Glorian and Roni and learnt so much from these charismatic, intelligent and gentle cousins. In addition to the incredible beauty of the seascape around Split and the local islands, we found ourselves in the company of such generous people. It was like being taken out for the day by friends. We would heartily recommend this experience to anyone!

Stranded at sea with a dead engine on a derelict sailboat at night with an unprofessional, inexperienced “captain”.

AVOID THIS BOAT AND THIS CAPTAIN AT
Julie I really have a hard time understanding what went on in your head that night. So you went from having fun, sipping wine, laughing and talking to the other group to offending me and my company. Nothing out of the ordinary happened that night except the engine was beeping an alarm which is irrelevant because it was working. We sailed for 2h as usual, wine was served and the other group had no complaints at all. I don't force anyone on the boat to do anything, if your son didn't want to steer the boat one word would have been enough, to me it looked like he was having fun. And obviously whatever joke or anything I said that night you somehow got wrong. Comments about lights are just ridicilous, you see during the night if you have a light on in the cabin during sailing it's hard to see where you are going, thus the headlamp. Damir Djerek, owner

Captain Jerry is the man! Great views and a fun trip on a sailboat. Might even get to steer the sailboat!

Thank you!

We had a great evening sailing at sunset. Excellent views of the city and comfort of a very small group compared to many other boat trips.

An amazing night on the water! We actually sailed which isn’t common and had the best time! One of the highlights of our trip!!! The sunset didn’t disappoint either! Will definitely do this again when back! Amazing captain and couldn’t have been a better couple hours!

Great fun on a short sailing trip. Tour staff was friendly and engaging. A great opportunity to see the magnificent sunset and early evening views of Split.

My family and I had such a great time on this sunset sailing cruise. The guides were very friendly and welcoming to their boat. They provided music and wine and great information about Split and Croatia. Would definitely recommend to others that are looking to spend time on the water while in Split!

We, my boyfriend and I, booked this trip to end off our time in Split and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. We were greeted warmly and taken out on a lovely relaxing sailing cruise a few miles offshore. The hosts were friendly and offered us wine about half way into the trip. We were lucky have a breathtaking sunset and it was a lovely end to our stay in Split. Highly recommended.
Ludivine_I, Jun 2025
Our guide was very kind and helpful.
We were able to hold the bar and put our feet in the water. We were very lucky because that night there was only my husband and me on the sailboat.
We recommend this beautiful evening, the sunset and the views of Split are superb. Thanks to our sailor for his simplicity and kindness.
