Wonderful tour throughout the whole day! Our guides and the driver were absolutely amazing! All of my friends enjoyed the trip and the impressive and beautiful views. This is going to be remembered forever!
It was a difficult hike and you need to be well prepared with proper gear and in decent shape, regardless of your age. We started at a fast pace but eventually slowed down and took breaks as needed. The geography was stunning to see and experience up close. It was a long bumpy ride to get there; I’m glad I didn’t have to drive it! The reward of the geothermal pool at the end was incredible. Aside from the sulphur smell, it was relaxing and fantastic.
The most stunning hike I’ve ever been on through landscape like I’ve never seen before.
Not a difficult hike so long as you have proper hiking boots/shoes as there are portions of the trail that are steeper with loose rock. The guided hike allowed us to learn about the geology of the area, and our guide was warm and welcoming.
The drive there is long but incredible views from the bus, especially along the gravel road - sometimes you almost thought you were on a lunar landscape.
10/10 recommend.
This is my best Landmannalaugar highlands hiking. The tour guide named Dimitris is very professional and knowledgeable and helpful.
For the gorgeous landscape alone, the tour was worth it. Our planned 4 hours of hiking/on-site time ended up being extended to 6 hours due to an tour company operational issue. It would have been nice to have some activities to do during the extra two-hour wait.
Excellent trip to an area with incredible scenery, totally different to anything else I’ve seen in my trip to Iceland. Would highly recommend.
This is a moderately challenging hike through the Landmannalaugar lava field. My husband and I chose the 4-hour day hiking option. We managed with sneakers, but we really wish we had proper footwear, as there were many steep gravel paths that were tricky to navigate. This is a highly exhilarating hike with ever-changing, diverse landscapes. Highly recommend it. Bring proper mountaineering gear (windbreaker, multiple layers, water bottle, snacks, hiking boots, woolen cap) to enjoy the experience to the maximum!
Even though the weather was not ideal we enjoyed this hard to reach hike immensely. The driver was amazing and our guide was knowledgeable. The scenery was other worldly.
Wonderful hike. . Gorgeous scenery. Stops to pick up participants and use facilities and grab something to eat on ride to Landmannalaugar. Gummie, our guide told us interesting information about Iceland along the way. The roads in the mountains were bumpy at times. We stopped a few times in the park for spectacular sites before getting to the hike. The hike was about 1.5 hours and moderately challenging in a few areas because slushy snow was on a steep area of the mountains and coming down steep inclines, but it was doable and Gummie was a great guide. Waiting at beautiful vistas for stragglers to catch up while allowing the others to admire the views and creating steps in the snow to make it easier for those after him. The rock formations and colors on the mountains were unbelievable. Along the way steam would rise from the ground. The disk in the geothermal spring was other-worldly, surrounded by lava rock with flowers growing through and a mist from the steam rising! I got beautiful photos from the day.
This tour had its pros and cons, ultimately leading to a 3-star rating.

Pros:
Amazing Tour: The sights and activities were fantastic. The hiking was manageable, and the overall experience was enjoyable.
Excellent Guide: The tour guide was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and passionate about her job. She even went the extra mile by dropping me off first at my request to make a dinner reservation.
Cons:
Long Day: Be prepared for a long excursion, starting at 7 am and finishing around 9 pm.
No Pre-Tour Support: Customer service with Artic Adventure was practically non-existent. My questions sent through Viator regarding the tour received very slow or no replies. In comparison, previous tours with Troll Expedition had prompt communication.
Additional Notes:
Motion Sickness: Beware that it takes almost 4 hours to get to the destination. 1 hour with some uneven roads so if you have motion sickness, please prepare accordingly.
Bring Food: The tour includes a stop at a supermarket to allow for lunch or dinner purchases. This is important as there may not be other options readily available.
Hot spring: The hot spring is not for everyone (80% of the attendees did not even bother with going to the hot spring). While enjoyable for some, it may not be appealing to everyone. For those who aren't interested in the hot spring, spending 1.5 hours there could feel like wasted time. Perhaps an alternative option, like visiting the Valley of Tears, could be offered for those who prefer to skip the hot spring.
Overall:
While the tour itself was fantastic thanks to the guide, the lack of communication from Artic Adventure before the trip was frustrating. Consider this review if you're comfortable with a long day and the potential for a slow response from customer service. If the hot spring isn't your thing, you might want to explore tours with alternative options during that timeframe.

The hike and guide were amazing.
The trip to the site on the F-roads was very uncomfortable, would probably be a lot better in a passenger van instead of a bus.
Once we got there, the 90 mins of discomfort was well worth it. My pictures will not do it justice.
Our guide was amazing (think Joanna, but probably butchering her name.) The hike was moderately difficult in a few areas, 2 strenuous climbs and one difficult descent. Even with those few pieces, I think most people could do this. Make sure to have shoes with a good grip and layers (warm in august when shielded by the mountains and windy and chilly at the peak). Our guide brought extra hiking poles for any that needed.
It was a long day, but well worth it! Not overcrowded like many of the experiences.
The views here are spectacular and our guide Mariano was excellent, offering fun interesting facts! Dress warm for the wind, especially at the tops of the mountains. The drive was a bit under 4 hours from Reykjavík, with beautiful scenery along the way! 10/10 would do again.

The hike is of medium difficulty so if you have difficulty climbing I would say coming down could be tough on your knees! But the views make it worth it!

Every bit of the hike was stunning and the guide was very patient and knowledgeable. It was also nice to be able to soak in the geothermal water after the hike which was very hot.
Poor communication between viator & tour operator, and pick up location not passed on to us.
Ad says pickup point at Church, so we booked our hotel there. Our email confirmation however advised us of our pick up point at Campsite at 7am. At 6am we walked from the Church for an hour to arrive Campsite before 7am, waited half an hour before the bus arrived, just to find out we could be picked up at Church instead. Very frustrated with the poor & inaccurate communications, not happy 😡!

The quickly changing sights were really impressive. Except climbing a small mountain, the path is easy to walk.

This was absolutely beautiful trip. Our guide Vjeran was amazing! Very professional and friendly. He could talk about history of Iceland and whole world as well. We couldn't wish more.
After a long and at times a bumpy ride we enjoyed a 3+ kilometer nike that ended with stunning views. It was well worth the long commute. The hot springs bath at the end was a nice bonus. I also enjoyed our guides brief history of Iceland.
The beauty of Landmannalaugar is stunning, and this is a must see place if you are on Iceland.
The tour itself, and the hike in particular, can be improved substantially. You are given a total of 4 hours at Landmannalaugar, but only 2.5 hours for the hike itself. The guide rushes you through the trail, without ever giving you a chance to enjoy the scenery. And in the end, for some reason you are given 1.5 hours to bath in a very unappealing pool. And if you are not interested in that, your alternative is to sit in a crowded bus and drink coffee. Just very, very disappointing, and to me inexplicable.
The Landscape is gorgeous. Landmannalaugar is a place to visit for sure. Artic adventurers are reliable and the guide was really fantastic.
Only the group (16) was too big particularly if they guarantee small groups.
