Day of Sightseeing

This was an excellent day of seeing many sights. Our guide for Pompeii was excellent. She showed us all the important spots and gave excellent information about each. Then on to Mt. Vesuvius for a great hike. The trail is all gravel, so go gripping shoes are helpful. After a little exercise we were driven to a winery for lunch and a little wine tasting. What a wonderful day and great way to end the day at the winery. I highly recommend this tour.

Five stars and then some. Pippo was our driver and he made the day!!! Shared his knowledge about the area with us and overall engaged in a delightful conversation. The guide at Pompeii was a must-have to truly appreciate the site. The hike up Vesuvius was challenging but the views from the top are well worth the sweat. The winery had amazing wines and good was good.

This day was everything we had hoped it would be. We started at Pompeii with an excellent tour guide. He was fun, engaging, and answered all our questions. Next we did the hike to the Mt Vesuvius rim. We really enjoyed the walk up (great views all the way up) and it wasn't super crowded on the day we went. We would totally do that again. Next it was on to the winery and we felt that the wine and food was worth the price. The staff was super attentive and it was a relaxing end to our day. We really enjoyed our driver Alberto and on the way back to our hotel he popped into a business where they make limoncello, did a little tasting, and bought some flavored chocolates. Great Day, Great Tours!

Sort of a must do this at least once type of thing. Check your level of fitness though, it’s an all uphill walk, sandy rocky paths. You can take as long or as short as you like to walk keeping your own pace, and arrive with a bottle of water it’s a bit dusty too. The views from above at the craters lip are beautiful as you look back down at old lava flows and at the village below. And knowing you’re walking the crater of a live volcano is inspiring as you will occasionally see a wisp of smoke here and there. It’s worth mentioning there is a small refreshment area at the top for beverages.

This tour was incredible, I highly recommend! Every minute of the experience was incredible - our tour guide at Pompei (Gennaro) was the perfect mix of knowledgeable and funny to keep us entertained. Our lunch at the winery was delicious and our drivers were very kind and efficient. This tour was a dream come true!

Our driver for the day was Pippo and he was absolutely amazing! So patient with us for picture stops, explaining the history of the different areas (Pompeii and Vesuvius), cracking jokes, great clean van, and very good English. He stopped off at limoncello stands, souvenir stands, and for bathroom breaks throughout the day. We’ll be recommending him to all our friends and family if they come to Sorrento!

This is a fantastic day that combines the history of Pompeii, the majesty of Mt Vesuvius and when you are tired, the luxury of a winery lunch with many delicious courses and fine wines. (The wines grown in volcanic soil are delicious and distinctive and we ordered many of them to ship home - along with amazing olive oil and wine vinegars). Our driver Rino was fantastic and gave us a lot of interesting history and stories about the Amalfi Coast and Mt Vesuvius, he was accommodating, charming and knowledgeable (and drove skillfully on those crazy roads)! Our Pompeii guide Anna Maria was a fount of knowledge and kept us away from the crowds. This is a great experience and worth every penny (or Euro) you spend! We are (picky) well travelled Americans and this gets all 5 stars!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience. Pippo was our driver for the day and he did a great job taking care of us. The experience started at Pompeii with Francesco as our tour guide. We stopped on our way up to the rim of the crater and tasted some lemoncello and shopped for souvenirs. We tasted 4 wines with a plate of food after a quick tour of the winery we stopped at. Before taking us back to our hotel, Pippo treated us to a lemoncello slushy along the coast with a breath taking view of Sorrento/Sant’Agnello. It was a perfect day and can’t recommend this tour enough.

A Perfect Day Full of History and Wine

Our group of four had a wonderful day on this fun and historical tour. Our driver, Rino, picked us up at our hotel in Sorrento and drove us in his beautiful car, even providing cold water bottles throughout the day. He was a wonderful tour guide, pointing out many interesting sites along the way to Mt. Vesuvius. He gave us ample time for climbing the mountain and oh what a view! It is stunning all the way up. We met Rino on our way down the mountain and off we went for a fabulous wine tour, tasting and lunch at Cantina Del Vesuvio. Next, we drove to Pompeii for our private tour of this city which was destroyed in 79AD when Vesuvius erupted. Our guide, Frederica was personable and knowledgeable. This is the perfect day from Sorrento. 5+ STARS!!

We had the most amazing day. Pippo was an excellent driver and guide. He picked us up from our hotel in Naples. We started the tour walking up to Vesuvius in the morning before the heat. Then on to wine tasting and lunch . Met our guide for Pompei which was amazing! They dropped us at our place in cetara. The perfect start to our week.

Great sequence; early morning Vesuvius, winery and lunch and the Pompie. The private (just your family) tour, although a little expensive is really the way to do this. Pippo (Joseph), our driver was just fantastic. Extremely personable, cared for us throughout the trip and helped any way he could. We lucked out with fantastic weather. In July, it was chilly was Mt. Vesuvius.

Wow. Our private guide made this a fantastic all day experience. He was a great driver, safe, and we had a large Mercedes van to ourselves. He was flexible, knowledgeable, courteous and did whatever it took to make our day the best ever. We hiked to the top and all around Mt. Vesuzius, he handed us off to a fantastic private guide for the ruins of Pompeii, and then the winery. The winery's views of Mt. Vesuvius were fantastic, but the food and service were just OK. We did not care for the wine.

We loved Pompeii & our tour guide was great. He spoke good English & was very knowledgeable about all the history. Mount Vesuvius was a bit of a disappointment. It’s quite a steep hike where we had to stop a lot along the way. Wear GOOD hiking shoes if you attempt it. When we got to the top it was literally just a big hole. Not like the pictures I’d seen of a crater. The wine tasting was OK & we thought we could choose from a menu but it was a set menu. There’s a big push for you to buy the wine & once they realized we weren’t interested the service slowed a bit. The food was good but just know all that going in.

Having a private tour was amazing! It was personal and you get to hear everything and not be crowded by others. The driver and tour guide were absolutely wonderful. Pompeii, Vesuvius, and the winery are a must see!!!

Very well organized and our driver Rino could not have been more accommodating. He was professional and very knowledgeable of the arrears we visited. He made modifications to our trip based on the weather conditions ensuring we had an enjoyable day. The tour of Pompeii was amazing, our guide opened our eyes to many things we were not aware of. The winery tour was very good as well, their olives were amazing to eat ant the spicy bread was spectacular.

The visit to Pompeii, despite the oppressive heat and crowds was informative and educational. 1 hour 45 minute tour went by quickly. I could have spent more time there. The visit to the vineyard was fabulous. Lunch was out of the world good and we bought some bottles of wine and shipped home. Vesuvius was a bit of a disappointment. Took a while, long climb and visibility was nil. I guess if it was a clear day it might be worth it but would rather have had that time at Pompeii.

Our driver was amazing, Pompeii was interesting. The wine tour was great! Wonderful food. We did not get to see Mt Vesuvius cause of the rain. But we went to Pocatono! Beautiful!

Pompeii and private guide were excellent. Enough time spent there to see and learn. Climbing Vesuvius breath taking a little challenging with uphill angles and ground unevenness so not for those who have difficulty walking and the ability to see into the crater was amazing. The wine tour was disappointing. Quick two minute explanation of the vineyard them a mediocre lunch with some samplings. The lunch and quality of wines could have been better. Still worth doing the tour though for Pompeii and Vesuvius. PAY ATTENTION to the details of this tour though because nothing included - we had to pay for entry to Pompeii 12euro, entry to Vesuvius 10 euro, and 28 euro for the lunch so the cost is really 50 euro more per person.

Amazing day out. Pompeii was amazing. Our guide was excellent. Mt Vesuvius was a trek but worthwhile. Highlight of the day was the food and wine tour. Food was authentic and plentiful and it's the only place I've been told to drink quicker as they had more wine to give us! Would highly recommend

Our tour host in Pompeii, Cara, was very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Definitely would recommend her. Our driver Marco, less so. Got us around, but appeared that he'd rather be elsewhere. We only did Pompeii and passed on Mt. Vesuvius and the Wine Tour. Had a better time walking the streets of Naples and eating at a local pizza joint.

Excellent way to accomplish three highlights in one day. Our driver, Nello, safely shuttled us from location to location. At Pompeii we had a private guided 2 hour tour. The guide was knowledgable and since 2 of the 4 of us had toured Pompeii about 9 years ago, he took us in at a different entrance and we saw many sights that we had not seen the first time. Pompeii cannot be seen in just 2 hours, but this gave us a wonderful overview for what life might have been like. From there we drove as far up Mt. Vesuvius as allowed. Highly recommend sturdy walking shoes and coat with hood, as the walk from that point is winding and up hill on a path with loose gravel, and at the top it's very windy and much colder. So glad we were prepared otherwise we never would have made it to the rim. Our driver did not rush us and set a return time, which was great, as our family was 2 twenty-two year olds and 2 sixty year olds...needless to say we achieved to walk up and down a different speeds. Lastly, we enjoyed a delicious lunch, tasting, and nice tour of the vineyard. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio for lunch.
