What an amazing experience, especially thanks to our guide, TOLA. You really want to book and get TOLA as your guide. He knocked it out of the park with his wife knowledge, professionalism, and great English skills.
This tour includes a few things. You get a drive through a village and the countryside, as well as the "floating village" (houses on stilts), and then the freshwater lake itself Tonlé Sap for sunset.
This was my first OMG experience in Cambodia. It's very different than Angkor Wat but striking and gorgeous in its own ways.
Sunset on the lake is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a long time, and I have traveled a lot.
Learning about the livelihoods, histories, and economy of the fishermen and villages was very enlightening and rewarding.

It was a shorter than advertise trip. Because the water was low, we could not do the paddle through the mangrove forest as expected. But we spent an hour on the floating restaurant. Surely they could have come up with something else interesting to spend our time in place of that.

We had a really enjoyable and eye-opening day visiting the floating village. Since it’s the dry season, the water was quite far out and we saw many homes on tall stilts, which gave a different but fascinating perspective on daily life. Our guide explained how the rainy season (June–October) transforms the area, especially in the later months when floodwaters rise.
It was inspiring to see how resourceful the local people are running markets, fishing, and drying fish and shrimp despite the changing conditions. The boat ride through the mangroves and out onto the open water was beautiful, especially with the sunset. Watching the fishermen working with their nets and shrimp lines was a highlight. The only part I didn’t enjoy was the stop with crocodiles kept in cages, it felt unnecessary. Overall, it was a great experience. Our guide, Sarun, was very friendly and knowledgeable, which made the tour even better.

A fantastic afternoon starting with hotel pick-up (and ending with being dropped off). The trip there (1hr) was comfortable. The river/village experience was eye opening and educational in a good way. The village construction is crazy/amazing. Having a meal and drink on a floating resteraunt on the lake was fabulous. The sunset cannot be controlled and was clouded over but being out on the lake was still great.
Our guide was excellent (sorry we did not catch your name) and the information that he provided was very good. If you have mobility issues this may not be for you as getting on/off the boat can be tricky. Other than that a highly recommended experience!

The Kompong Phluk floating village tour was wonderful. Learning how an entire village has adapted to seasonal flooding was very interesting. We also got to stop at a local village to wander through a marketplace. Watching people sell various products and interact as customers battered for fruit, vegetables, meats, fish, and .any other products was fascinating.

We were fortunate to do this tour when there was still water enough to appreciate the floating village and take the rowing boat out to flooded forest. The row boat was my favorite part of this whole experience. Even though there were other boats and people around, it felt so tranquil. It was soothing listening to the small splashes of water and rustling of leaves while you float through the trees casting shadows all around you.

Ra was a good guide, both boat trips were excellent and sunset on the lake was special.

Fantastic tour of a lakeside community in Cambodia. Our tour guide Ry was exceptional. He grew up in the jungle and was very knowledgeable. He also spoke excellent English and was easy to understand. My favorite part was the boat ride through the mangrove forest. So spectacular. The visit to the school is a bit staged for tourist donations but that is to be expected. Tourists are gawking at their community so it’s only fair that there be reciprocity. Overall this is a must do on your visit to Cambodia.

This was a really great trip. Air-conditioned mini bus took us to catch the boat and our guide told us interesting information about life in the floating villages, Tonlé Sap, life in Cambodia etc. Walked around the village and monastery at Kompong Phluk. Had an opportunity to go through the flooded forests on a smaller boat. Stopped at a floating cafe/bar for refreshments and then boated out to the lake to watch the sun set which was amazing. Highly recommend this trip.

Interesting trip to a local market and then boat trip to the floating village which was very interesting, then out onto the lake. We paid the 11 USD for the rowing boat trip through the mangroves and village which was also interesting. Highly recommend if you would like to see local life. We were lucky enough to be on a private trip and our guide, Ran, was very knowledgable.

The pick-up was on time, so we didn’t have to rush. The vehicle was new, neat, clean, and spacious. Our guide was excellent, with great communication skills and very good time management. We were given enough time to fully enjoy the sights.
The boat was also very good, and the sunset on the vast waters of the lake was truly beautiful. A wonderful experience overall.

I did the Kompong Phluk Floating Village Half-Day Tour and overall it was a memorable experience. The floating village and the flooded forest are unique, and the sunset alone is worth the trip — absolutely stunning and not to be missed.
That said, I wish the boat experience was a bit more premium. It would have been great to have an upgraded option that included snacks and covered the full cost of the small boat ride through the water forest. That extra comfort would have made the tour feel more complete.
Still, the destination itself is fantastic — a must-do when visiting Siem Reap, especially for the magical sunset views.

Very nice and interesting tour with nice clean AC cars and river boat. Also give water and cold towels. They was very helpful to get in and out from the boat. Also give all story how those people live 6 months is water and 6 months when it’s dry season. Very interesting to see this place and know about the way the people live. I really enjoy it.
