Disappointed in Viator...

Disappointed in Viator and their local partner. Although our reservation was for 2 people they sent us a huge bus for 15. Not only embarrassing but super uncomfortable. Seats did not lie back and there was no leg room. Really don’t understand how they screwed this up. Rest of the day was not much better. The Museum was unexpectedly closed. The sulphuric springs were interesting as was the town of Noboribetsu; lots of cute shops and good food. Saw some of the floats for the parade that really did not start until the evening so we headed back to our hotel 2 hours early. They were very flexible about the scheduling which I appreciated.

We also appreciate your kind comment regarding the flexibility with the schedule. Regarding the vehicle, your booking was made under the service category for up to 15 passengers, which is typically operated by a microbus or similar vehicle, as shown in the reference photo on the booking page. We understand that, with only 2 passengers travelling, the vehicle may have felt larger than expected and not as comfortable as you had hoped. For future reference, for a smaller group of 2 passengers, the service category for up to 8 passengers may be more suitable. Regarding Upopoi Museum, the museum was originally scheduled to be open on your travel date. However, due to heavy rain in the Iburi area, a water outage occurred in Shiraoi Town and affected the museum’s operations. As a result, the museum announced a temporary closure on the same day. As this was an unexpected same-day closure, we were unfortunately unable to advise you in advance or adjust the itinerary beforehand. We sincerely regret any inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused. We are sorry that the day did not fully meet your expectations, but we are grateful that you still shared the parts you enjoyed with us.
