Our trip was great. The trek while tiresome but was well worth it. The tour guide was fantastic. If you want to get a taste of Sapa from the perspective of a local and not just the tourist photo ops this trip is for you. The photo ops are still great on this trek too btw.

Great Trek with Choo.

Great tour with Choo. The trek was challenging but that’s what we wanted. It was very amazing to be able to trek through rice and corn fields and see the villages from that view. Heavens Gate was foggy but that is always a risk.

A wonderful way to see some of the Sapa sights. There was more walking and step climbing than I expected, so maybe double check this detail if your fitness or mobility is a concern. Ms Mu was great and slipping sliding through the corn fields during the pouring rain was definitely a highlight!!

Our guide Mrs. Mú was great and explained us a lot about the local people and their lives. She didn't rush us, let us take a lot of photos, prepared tasty lunch for us (I'm vegan and she managed to supply great food for me) and we had great time with her and with the great views around!

Amazing rural trek

Our guide Mu was lovely and took us 'off the beaten track' We visited 2 waterfalls and then Heavens Gate, but not the touristy part, an area just up from there which was where the locals were. My husband was daring and walked out on a wooden platform over the valley for a photo opportunity! The views were breathtaking throughout the entire day as she then took us on a long trek through rice paddys (sturdy shoes are a must fior this) where we encountered water buffalo along the way. We stopped by a stream, on some big rocks under the shade of a tree where she proceeded to prepare a veritable banquet of ban mi, rice with chicken and vegetables (as I'm GF) along with a variety of fruits, all of which she had carried in her backpack. We then carried on through a small village where local people were going about their daily lives, under the cable cars and finished up near Cat Cat village (which she said was too touristy) What we loved about yhis tour was Mu's knowledge of the crops that were being grown and hiw comfortable she made us feel as we walked through these little villages. This is a definite must do for those that are looking for a rural experience - not for people who are unsteady on their feet or particularly unfit though as it takes its toll on your calf muscles!
