Great intro to Costa Rica

We hope you’re lucky enough to have Hayro as one of your guides. We lucked out having him three days on our trip. He is incredibly knowledgeable about each of the areas he took us to, found animals, insects and birds would never have seen without him. He clearly knows the area well, knows staff at the parks and shares tidbits about the country’s history and culture with you throughout the day. He ends the day telling you what to expect for your next day which is very helpful. The excursions all come out of San Jose so be prepared to spend some time on the road. CR traffic is bad and unpredictable which can make some days end late. Dinner is on your own each day which implies to me we’d be back by dinner - assumably 7 pm but two nights we were back later - 8-9pm so bring some snacks. Each day is well thought out and organized. Excursions in each direction from SJ which gives you a good amount of windshield time to see broader parts of the country. The lunches provided are great. We really enjoyed getting to know the other travelers in the group, it mixes up most days as some begin their 8 days and others peel off completing theirs. We spent a couple days with some we really enjoyed. Pack a variety of clothes as the excursions take you to beaches, rain forest and volcanos so having a thin jacket as a windbreaker/raincoat is ideal. You go from sea level to over 10,000 ft (not same day) so pack some items for a little cooler/breezy conditions. Overall had a really good time.

Traffic conditions can occasionally extend the return time, but it also allows guests to see a wide range of landscapes across the country. Excellent experience if you are up for adventure! All the drivers and guides were great, informative, and helpful. Hotel staff was great. Would definitely encourage anyone to go. Know that you need to be able to walk a lot and often up and down steep hills. You need to be flexible as weather and traffic can change things. You will be doing a lot of traveling and often through steep curvy roads. Great Experience

This is a jam packed vacation for those who like to maximize their vacation time. This tour takes care of all of the planning and coordination out of seeing many of the top places to visit in Costa Rica. The tours did not disappoint! The tour included transfers to/from the airport which is very nice. Our hotel was Delta/Marriott Aurola which is located near a park and within walking distance of other attractions although we were cautioned against walking around after dark. For four days, we were with the same group of 9 people with the same guide. The guide was attentive and knowledgeable. For the other days of rafting and ziplining we were separated. While we knew the tour was to/from the hotel everyday and we did expect to spend time in the van, the pick up times were very early (between 6-6:30 am) and the return was often after 7pm. Most trips included one bathroom break per direction where you could also purchase snacks. This did not leave time in the evenings for anything but a quick supper. I would recommend this tour if this is the first time to Costa Rica and you are able bodied (fair amount of walking and stairs). The reason for the 4 star is simply for the length of time spent driving (usually at least 3 hours per direction) but the tours and guides themselves were 5 star.

Good program, highly recommended

Firstly we enjoyed the program a lot. Each day’s activity is well arranged and organised. Hotel is good. Bear in mind as it is based in San Jose, thus some day it needs long hour travelling to the destination. Secondly, there are some days activities we really enjoyed such as poas volcano, rafting, zap line, etc. highly recommended. Thirdly although we had a small issue on last day transportation, but the agent was very helpful and sorted out efficiently.

Such an amazing trip! Every tour was unique and so much fun!! We were lucky to have Lenny as our tour guide each day except rafting. She is wonderful!’ She is knowledgable, friendly, witty, and patient! She made us feel comfortable. It was so nice to let Lenny and the others at Symmer Tours take over and just enjoy our trip!

Not quite the adventure we signed up for!

This review will be a little bit different, as I had a fall on our very first day and ended up with a broken shoulder. The response from Summer Travel was spectacular- they sent someone out to help, made arrangements for the ER visit and stayed with me throughout the whole process. We were debating whether to stay or go home, and they fully supported us either way. We will definitely use Summer Travel when we come back to this beautiful country.

The Whitewater rafting trip was amazing! La Paz Waterfall Gardens were spectacular! The Monteverde area was also spectacular! Manuel Antonio National and our Sunset Cruise was also fabulous! All our guides were so knowledgeable and accommodating and especially Hayro Hernandez. He was an excellent driver as well as an extremely knowledgeable and passionate guide! They all showed extreme love for Costa Rica!

Beautiful Destination, but Consider Travel Time (long ride each day)

We enjoyed our time in Costa Rica, appreciating the beauty of the country and its people. However, it's important to note that the tour, contrary to the displayed map indicating a loop, departs and returns to the same hotel daily. This resulted in an average of 5 hours or more spent in the car each day. It's worth considering that this may not be suitable for individuals with small children or seniors.

The most memorable parts were the several hikes with Hayro as our guide, the whitewater rafting, and the zip line. Hairo was truly outstanding. He is passionate and deeply experienced in all aspects - he knows how to find the interesting things and handles all the inevitable complex situations well. The schedule was intense but so worth it. We experienced an amazing sampling of what Costa Rica offers.

Great way to celebrate with Grandson

I'm an 82 year old grandmother who went on this trip with my 18 grandson as a graduation trip. We had the best time enjoying all the activities provided on this tour. Our tour guide Hayro was the BEST. Extremely knowledgeable about every location he took us to. And each restaurant he took us to for our lunches was unique and the food was tasty. The days were long but packed full of adventure and fun. One of our best days was zip lining. My grandson and I even got to tandem on two of the tower lines. Our river rafting day was my first time and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our 4 hour trip. Each and everyone guide was professional, helpful and yet fun and entertaining. Our accommodations at the Radisson were outstanding. Very clean, nice size room with two queen beds. Cleaned on a daily bases. Hotel staff very helpful and courteous at all times. And we really took advantage of dining at the bar cafe. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. There wasn't a day that we didn't experience something new. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone but especially to someone who has never traveled to Costa Rica. This cover so much about the country and provided us with so very memorable experiences.
