First off I will say this is a great tour. They book everything for you so there is nothing to try and coordinate so it is totally hassle free. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is that you don’t have an option on what time you would like to return. For example, we left Cusco at 4am and by the time we were done w all transport up to Machu Picchu and toured it with the guide it was about 11:30a. After taking the bus back down we still had the lunch and some shopping to do. Our train was not until 5:30p. We would have loved a 2:00p option. We tried to go to the ticket office and they do not let you change your ticket to an earlier time, you have to book a new ticket. The price for the 6 of us to take an earlier train would have been almost $900 usd. Therefore, we found ourselves with many hours to kill. (I do recommend an hour massage at one of the many massage shops, an hour will run you about $20 usd.) We would have loved a shorter tour option in this case as it is a very long day and we didn’t return to our Airbnb until around 10:15p.

Communication was excellent, very responsive to messages. They picked us up at our air bnb, drove us to train station, helped us get to the bus, then we had a guide through Machu Pichu. They had given us all of our tickets in advance. Then when we got done with Machu Pichu we had 5 hours to explore Machu Pichu district for lunch and shopping before the train ride back down. For us, 5 hours was too long and we were unable to get an earlier train. Overall the day started at 5am and ended at 10pm. Very coordinated, great communication.

This tour is good if you want someone to book everything for you. However we had several mishaps along the way and I believe they were due to miscommunication. We missed our train to Machu Picchu because the bus driver dropped us off by the Inca Rail line instead of Peru Rail. We were not informed there was more than one rail line and we were waiting at Inca rail and missed our train, we then had to run to buy new tickets with our own money. The person I was communicating with was very helpful throughout this process and found us a new guide to take us around Machu Picchu. The other issue was that the tour and lunch were over by 2 and then the train back to Cusco didn’t leave until 5:50 so we had a lot of time just sitting around, the train was also delayed and so was our bus so we did not get back after 11:30 pm. It was a long exhausting day, the tour was only advertised as a 16 hour tour and and were almost gone for 21 hours.

The tour is more of a service that gets everything together for you. They arrange all of the transports and then a guide at Machu Picchu but from place to place there is a bit of figuring things out. Overall it was worth it. Also there is a bunch of walking so be ready!!

The agency that confirmed my booking almost 3 weeks ago to go to Machu Picchu for 1 day emailed me 36 hrs before my Machu Picchu trip and changed my itinerary for 2 days and 1 night or cancel my trip. I cannot cancelled my trip coz I already in Cusco. I booked my hotel and made arrangements to my other tour in the city in advance and I have to cancelled all the things that I need to do (I cannot refund my hotel and tour coz last minute) just to see Machu Picchu. I was in Machu Picchu village and the guide who I met didn’t speak English at all. Then the day of the tour, the agency and the guide didn’t say anything about bus ticket. I was alone and trying to figure out how to get a ticket and finally the agency sent me a bus ticket so I can see the Machu Picchu. The agency both the bus ticket last minute after I asked where is my bus ticket. I was so stressed to this trip and spend more money than what it was. Horrible experience.

Amazing experience beyond words. I will say that the first tour guide was a no show and created quite a problem. Viatour made up for it and got us with a reputable and very competent group to still be able to make it on another day. In the end it was all worth it and will continue to use viatour

Ok, so to start we did have a good time and we did get what we paid for in the description.
However, I think other people's reviews have over-sold this.
This is not a 'tour' but an 'arrangement'. You won't be part of a group and you won't have a tour guide.
You will have a driver who takes you to the train station, where you have already been given tickets.
When you get off the train someone else will take you to the bus stop and put you on the bus.
At the entrance a guide will meet you, with other people from all different groups etc, that have also paid for this.
Then when you leave Maccu Picchu it will be the same arrangement in reverse.
This means that at certain points you don't really know what's happening and there can be some waiting around, as the fixers gather up other people from other tour companies.
Overall, we had a good day at Maccu Picchu.
My other advice would be not to use Viator. Personally I didn't like their communication and customer service. I think you could arrange a similar thing when you get to Cusco - there are plenty of tour companies providing this service.

Hot, wind, rain, cold and hot again.
You can fell the energy and the power of the nature.
Don't forget a light jaquet for all seasons or the only experience you will have is the Karate kid movie (put the jaquet, remove the jaquet...). Lol

Even though train had engine failure which costed me 2h it was still possible to change guide / transport back and see everything. I strongly recommend to have internet on your phone

Incredible trip all around! It was very well organized, a staff member came directly to my hotel the night before to go over the details and they provided everything we needed! The tour guide was amazing, gave us plenty of information and always kept it interesting. Definitely worth the investment, as the trip would have been quite the headache otherwise. Best way to see Machu Picchu, hands down.
