We had an incredible e-mountain bike tour with Shay! I can’t recommend highly enough the incredible experience that you will have with Shay and his Ride to the Sky team in Queenstown, NZ. The topography in Queenstown is amazing, and seeing it while peddling through the mountains and around the lake is breathtaking! The equipment was top notch, and Shay was an awesome guide! If you aren’t a competent bike rider, the experience may be intimidating. By the end of the trip, we had a new friend in Shay!

We had an incredible e-mountain bike tour with Shay! I can’t recommend highly enough the incredible experience that you will have with Shay and his Ride to the Sky team in Queenstown, NZ. The topography in Queenstown is amazing, and seeing it while peddling through the mountains and around the lake is breathtaking! The equipment was top notch, and Shay was an awesome guide! If you aren’t a competent bike rider, the experience may be intimidating. By the end of the trip, we had a new friend in Shay!

An absolute must for anyone wanting to see the spectacular scenery around Queenstown. This ride was incredible.. from the quality of the mountain bikes…( best we have ever encountered) to the care, enthusiasm and knowledge of Shay our guide… could not ask for anything more .. a morning to be remembered… could not recommend more highly.

Was very awesome! Definitely was harder than expected, but our guide was very helpful with helping me get on the bike when I fell off😭. Would definitely recommend if you want a workout and some great views!

This was absolutely perfect. Shay was the perfect guide who clearly determined our comfort level and adjusted accordingly. He sent us out on a track while helping others navigate some tricky spots. We always had a clear meeting point but he let us have freedom to ride, baby!! There were so many fantastic viewpoints and photo-friendly spots.

An amazing ride! The views were incredible all of the way up the hill. Shay, our guide, was brilliant, leading us safely and at a sensible pace up and down the hill and giving us lots of tips to cope with the terrain. The route wasn’t too difficult but challenging in places; the bikes were great and had very good turbo power to cope with the climbs. It was a stunning morning, I thoroughly recommend the ride to the sky!!

Wonderful experience! Super friendly people. Great equipment. Patient with our beginner rider and allowed me to speed ahead. Good exercise in low power settings or just cruise up the mountain in Turbo mode.

The ride was most definitely challenging - we weren’t sure just what to expect but when things got tough we were given sensible, safe advice and assistance. Jordan was an excellent guide and proved to be very helpful when one of us got into difficulties. The views were everything we had hoped for - overall a terrific experience.

It was a beautiful day and ride. Our guide Shay left nothing to chance. We felt very safe and taken care of the whole trip. We rode the lake and it was sooo nice. I would be happy to do it again especially if we’d be lucky enough to get Shay.

I spontaneously signed up for the tour Ride to the Sky without any experience in mountain or electric bikes. But it turned out that I made an excellent choice! E-bike made the work definitely easier while the downhill was still the part needing caution. I did an easier route towards and around the lake side. The route was just so fun with stunning views along the way. I enjoyed every moment during the tour! Thanks, Ksena!

This was the highlight of my trip. I’d never been on an e-bike, it was so much fun. We cycled to the top of a mountain. 18km in total. This is possible on e-bikes as the turbo helps get you up the hills. We were a family group of 4 and 3 other people joined. It was an enjoyable afternoon, amazing views, great bikes and really well organised.

John was a fabulous guide, so great to get his local history on where we rode! Photos were well planned and speedily delivered! The bikes are in tip top shape and were a blast to ride! So fun to cycle in a place you normally can’t, and what a view! 10/10 recommend! I’d easily go again!

A few years older and carrying a few pounds this ‘intermediate’ challenge was tough even with Ebike but the rewarding, spectacular views along the way and euphoria on reaching the summit was more than ample reward for the energy expended. Tour guide John was informative and inspiring in equal amounts giving motivating comments when I stopped too long for a rest. Definitely a recommendation from me, you’ll find life in the old dog yet!

One of the highlights of our trip! We decided last minute to do this ride between our hotel check out and catching our plane home. I had not used e-bikes before and had not ridden a mountain bike in several years so I was kind of nervous about whether I could do it. But Jordan our guide was awesome and helped us figure it out every step of the way. I was the only girl (in my 50s) and was a bit slower than the others and he was so kind and patient and helped me build up my confidence. By the end I felt so much more comfortable on the bike and was able to keep up with the others (for the most part). The e-bikes definitely help but it is still quite a workout. You still have to work for it. But the payoff at the top was SO worth it. There were a few steep downhill parts that definitely scared me but with Jordan’s help I was able to do it and felt a real sense of accomplishment for doing it. There were some experienced riders with us and I loved that Jordan also found some challenging things for them to do as well so he made sure everyone got what they wanted out of it. They loved the ride too. I can’t recommend this enough!!

Such an amazing experience!
Our tour Guide and business operator Shay, was full of local Queenstown knowledge and Māori folklore.
Shay gave me and my mrs a detailed demonstration on the ebikes, how to use them before we left for the tour, so we were confident and comfortable for our journey.
The bikes made easy work of the uphills and downs and allowed us to take in the scenic views absolutely everywhere you rode.
Shay constantly keeps a keen eye on his group and stays in contact with 2-way radios which he supplies.
Our guide Took many stops along the way to get photos of us and to give us the history of the many areas we visited along the way.
Shay supplied us with a can of L&P each and a Muesli bar for the ride and even shared his Oolong berry tea with us.
Value for money on this activity packs a punch.
Don’t go past this without booking otherwise you will be sure to regret it on your flight home.
I plan to return in January and ride to the sky!
Congratulations to Shay & Ksena for such an amazing, environmentally friendly operation they run.

I loved this tour! The eBikes are so much fun. Shay was very accommodating during the booking, pickup, etc. John was my tour guide and he was very friendly and helpful. The views were just stunning. I highly recommend it! I’d just say that, while the eBikes provide pedal assistance, you should have some level of fitness and feel comfortable around a bike on the mountains. John was very helpful and patient and broke things down so you can take it a bit slower if needed.

Andy the guide was knowledgeable, a careful driver, and attentive to passenger needs. The small group was well planned and a value compared to large mad herding. The smaller boat was a highlight and The Skipper had a great sense of humor. Great experience.
