I’m surprised how so many visitors in Queenstown wanting to visit Milford Sound are not taking advantage of this opportunity and booking this excursion in advance. Are you willing to drive or ride a shuttle for +5 hours? Why not fly there instead and make a pit spot to touch some snow? Our pilot was Kurt and he was hands down very welcoming, professional, and engaged with ensuring that his passengers were safe and getting the best experience possible, weather permitting of course. The process of transitioning from helicopter to the cruise was very smooth and hassle free. We went to Milford Sound in the afternoon and we were very fortunate to have two close sightings of dolphins. It’s best to visit Milford Sound after heavy rainfall to see multiple active waterfalls. If NZ is in a dry spell, it’s still worth a visit especially with the Glacier Helicopters company. You won’t be disappointed!

Spectacular, Once in a Lifetime Experience

My boyfriend and I both agreed that this was the highlight of our New Zealand trip, which is saying something because everything we did was incredible. I've never ridden in a helicopter before and I was shocked at how smooth it was. Our pilot was absolutely delightful and gave us tons of super interesting info about the area. Bonus points because, as a plus size person, I often am unable to do activities because of weight restrictions, but Glacier Explorer was so accommodating, and does not have a weight limit per person, so I didn't have to worry at all! Anyway, the scenery was spectacular. Natural beauty unlike anything I've ever seen before. It brought me to tears if I'm being honest. Landing on the glacier was also unreal. We were able to walk around within a safe distance and marvel at our surroundings. I promise you, this is worth the money 10 times over.

Great was to see Milford Sound with limited time commitment

Great way to see Milford Sound in an afternoon, particularly if longer bus rides are not your thing. One ~30-minute flight to the sound, boat cruise and one ~30-minute flight back. Breathtaking views of the Sound and mountain ranges from above, coupled with a relaxing boat cruise through the fjord. We didn’t take advantage of the food onboard (but lovely to have seats reserved for our flight group), but did partake of a glass of wine and free coffee. Our pilot, Isabel was fantastic — great flier and tour guide, and our plane was comfortable and quiet. Pick up and drop-off from Queenstown was also a breeze.

Great Communication- despite weather cancellation

Good communication! I’m sure this would have been the HIGHLIGHT of our NZ trip, but due to weather our trip had to be cancelled with several days of rain impeding our plans. We were contacted promptly the morning of our original heli flight and given another date to fly a few days later. Sadly, the weather wasn’t in our favor on that extended date either. Even though we built in buffer days for weather our NZ trip was now on its final day. Full refund given. We will book it again for our next trip and fingers crossed we can make it happen. We’ve done several bookings with Viator and have always been impressed. Next time!

Better than you could ever imagine

This is probably one of the best things I have ever done in my life. Exceeded our expectations. Decided to book this as a family for my son’s 10th birthday. The helicopter easy fit our family of 2 adults and 4 kids and we all had amazing views regardless of where we sat. We landed up on the snow and took some lovely photos threw some snowballs, lost a shoe in the snow and laughed while putting it back on. Truly an amazing time. The staff were professional and polite and we appreciated their flexibility around the fog to get us the best conditions. Don’t even think about it book this tour it will make your trip! Thank you again from the Price Family. Best birthday ever!!!

I did the Tasman Glacier...

I did the Tasman Glacier heli hike and it was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life! The views from the helicopter rides, stomping on the glacier with crampons and crawling through ice caves made for an unreal day. The pilot, Luke, was super friendly and made for such a smooth flight that I nearly fell asleep both ways! Our guide on the glacier, Scott, was also just fantastic - enthusiastic, passionate and helped everyone break the ice (pun intended) and be friends. Super expensive but worth every dollar - don’t think twice!
