Wonderful and informative tour provided by Danilo! We loved our time at the Butterfly Sanctuary and it was really special to be able to release a butterfly at the end. The staff were very kind and let us take our time in the sanctuary after the guided tour was done. It is a bit out of the way to get to via Uber, but definitely worth the trip!

It’s a little rustic…pre arrange transport as the location is a little remote and wear sunscreen but overall lovely experience

It was a positive experience. The guide was very experienced and it was noticeable that he really loves his job. We learned a lot about butterflies and their life and also took part in the ceremony of releasing young butterflies, which was also a very beautiful and interesting experience. The territory of the institution is very calm and balanced, a great place to relax from the city bustle and learn something new.

One of the Best experiences ever. Our guide Adrian was so knowledgeable with his background in Biology. He made the tour come alive. He has Passion for the butterflies and Plants. It is not just a fun place but with a million to educate and preserve the beauty of this area.. I will go back with all my friends and family that visit Puerto Vallarta.

This special butterfly sanctuary focuses on the whole butterfly ecosystem from caterpillar food sources to chrysalis to aged adults. In each phase you learn a great amount. For example the butterflies each have a host plant species that they eat as opposed to moths that eat many types. Also, in the sanctuary butterfly’s can live for months where as in the wild they fall prey or die within weeks, and an aged butterfly looses their color scales and has translucent wings! Wonderful education experience.

This was a great experience, we were taught a lot about butterflies that we did not know. The area and the flowers were beautiful.
It is a little remote, so if you take a cab, make sure the driver is willing to stay with you.

Had a very good time and the price was very reasonable. Took an Uber there and back, but had to walk up the hill a little bit to get a signal for the Uber to pick us up. Yes, I would definitely go back next time. I’m here.

It was a wonderful experience to be surrounded by butterflies all around. The guide worked at the research site so knew the answer to every question. I was impressed that all the butterflies are native to that specific species hill. We saw at least 20 different species. All plants used are also native. It is not a fancy place. Any money they get is spent on the butterflies, but it was adequate. We were given water and there were places to sit by the pond and watch the birds. It was an amazing experience. I highly recommend it for all ages.

This was a hidden gem! it was a bit out of town (45 min taxi) but the tour was great and the location had a beautiful pond with geese. Bring water and sun protection. My girls wore pretty sundresses for many photos with the butterflies. The owner/creator of the sanctuary was our guide and very proud of his work and extremely knowlegeable about indigenous butterflies and their plant food sources. We learned so much! it was the most educational and unique experience in PV. Highly recommend!

Such an amazing experience! We booked the guided tour and our tour guide Fabian did an amazing job at giving us tons of information and explained everything in detail. He is very passionate about what he does. He was very kind and friendly, he made us feel comfortable and spoke to us as if he knew us. He answered any questions we had. We also got to release a butterfly which was a great experience.

The Butterfly Sanctuary is a little off of the beaten path, but it is 100% worth the trek. The guided tour provides educational/insightful information about each stage of the butterfly life cycle. If you get the opportunity to work with Fabian and/or Adrian, you will most certainly be in good hands. The tour ends with an incredible opportunity to release newly metamorphosized butterflies into the sanctuary! It was most definitely one of the highlights during my visit to Puerto Vallarta.

This a wonderful experience! It is one of three in Mexico. Great way to learn about native butterflies of Mexico and support an awesome project. Ran by six people who have a passion for these beautiful butterflies who are pollinators and so important for the health of our planet. Lovely experience. Don’t take the google maps shortest route. It’s easy to get lost!
