As a very active person, I did the most challenging trip. It was still very easy. The tour guide was fantastic. The facilities were fantastic and the caverns are absolutely beautiful.
Though if you’re looking for a physical excursion, it’s not very challenging. The mountain biking and the repelling were pretty easy. I still highly recommend this adventure as a solo traveler or with family.

We did the combo tour. The zip line, bicycle, and repelling were fun but nothing special. The Cave tour is great! My only suggestion would be to get bicycles with a lower gear ratio so they're easier to peddle. Several people in our group had to walk their bikes.

adventurous, challenging, so much fun, beautiful scenery in Rio Secreto; helpful and encouraging guide

Excellent tour for family and teenagers. We did the biking, zip line, rappelling, and cave tour. It was fun and exciting! Definitely need water shoes. I also recommend wet suit since the water in the cave was a bit chilly. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Buffet lunch was just ok, nothing fancy but good. Photos are expensive, $30 for 1 photo or $155 for the entire package.

Or guide was awesome he spent the time toooo explain everything everything about the jungle and the cenote. We went for the full package bike zip lining and lunch!

Our experience was really fun. Our guide, Alfredo, did an amazing job doing our tour. I wish they had less used gloves, water shoes etc for the guests. Biking in the jungle was a little scary but worth it.

This is an experience that should not be missed. It was absolutely amazing. We have traveled a lot and seen a lot and this one is number one.

Amazing experience! Book the tour! Pickup and drop off were good and rio secreto was amazing and cool

We did the Rio Secreto plus, which has two parts: bike, zip line, rappel, and then the cave. We had a blast! I went with two kids, 14 and 10 and they loved it. Alfredo, our guide was great. I could have skipped the first part and just done the regular Ruo Secreto tour, though. The real gem is the cave. Worth it-it was a once in a lifetime experience!

Very active 4 hours! We did the Plus experience which included bike ride, rappelling, zip line and the incredible experience in the underground cave system. Victor was a great guide. And the buffet at the end was delicious and well needed.

Wonderful activity and unlike anything you’ve ever done before unless you were able to swim through a cave full of stalagmites! Only thing to know is if you’ve done zip lines you do not need to do the P lus tour as you do NOT rappel into the cave river. They changed it to a dry cave that’s far less exciting but did not update any photos. This feels deceiving and was disappointing.

My husband and I traveled from Cozumel via ferry to get to the Rio Secreto plus tour. Our tour guide was Gustavo and he was the best! We had English and Spanish speakers in our group of 11 and he did an amazing job at translating for both as we went through our adventure. He was very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. The tour starts where you hop in a van where they take you to the starting area. You go hiking and then come back to change into the wetsuit. You have to rinse off in the open area shower then put your wetsuit, helmet, and life jacket/vest. You go into the cave and have an awesome time swimming, going under stalactites, and learning about the cave systems. It was so much fun! Once we were done we returned our life jacket/vest and it was time for biking. You get a bike and then head to the rappelling area. You get instructions and rappel down. Then you bike back to return you wet suit and change back into your clothes. During the whole tour we had Pablo taking pictures of us. The pictures were amazing! Just be prepared to pay over $100 for the package. I believe for 1 picture it was $30. We had lunch after this and the buffet was delicious. Cochinita pibil was my favorite. We had such a great time and I would definitely recommend this tour. Gustavo, Pablo and the 3rd person that I can't remember the name of did such an awesome job. This is one of my favorite tours so far. I just wish the pictures weren't that expensive or at least include one picture for the memories.

Great experience! Highly recommended. Fun for families, couples, or friends. Pictures expensive but worth the memories.

We ended up waiting 1 hour at Rio Secreto in order to be taken on the Plus tour. We didn't realize the wait would be so long. Be forewarned you may nerd to wait a bit before your tour. We were also originally handed the blue "regular" tour bracelets instead of the black "plus" tour bracelets. We had to inform staff of the mixup, so be sure to confirm which bracelets you get when they put it on you.
As part of the plus package I don't believe we ever had an hour long light and sound show - no idea what this was referring to.
Rio Secreto and the cave tour itself (~1.5 hrs) was fantastic. Our guide Diana was also fantastic. Would highly recommend her.
Buffet was fairly small but good (it was only available at the very end of all activities - they offered us a banana approx half way through. You also can have a
Small tortilla with salsa after the nature walk). I would definitely encourage people to bring extra water. They do have small water cups available throughout but we were very thirsty!
Walking / swimming through the caves was absolutely amazing. You cannot take pictures or your phone into the cave (instead you can pay for photos afterwards). A lot of people complain about this but just see it as an opportunity to live in the moment

We returned to Rio Secretos for another visit and loved the entire day. We did the Plus experience tour including walking the dry cave, bike riding, repelling into the top of the wet cave/ cenote and swimming through the rest of the cave. We had an excellent guide Gustavo and an excellent professional photographer Hector, who were very kind and helpful the whole time. We purchased the photos afterwards because they were stunning. We had a wonderful meal in their new restaurant area afterwards. The round-trip transportation was excellent and we appreciated how well we were cared for all day. We look forward to returning again.

Really great experience but the "plus" activities are anecdotal, if you hesitate between the standard and the plus tours, the standard one is enough

Very awesome tour, I would highly recommend this to anyone physically able.
There where several additional smaller tours, which were good, but not amazing. But the main highlight of the ~1.5h wet cave path is well worth it. The tour guide (Darely) stayed with us the entire time and was very helpful and spoke fluent English.
Parts of the cave path were spent floating lazily (mostly supported by the life jackets) along beautiful formations. The path was quite spacious for the most part, with only the end of the path we took (Supreme, blue line) being a bit smaller, but still wide enough to comfortable pass through without even touching anything but the floor.
The one major downside is the very expensive picture policy. You are not allowed to take any electronic devices with you (since they won't take useful pictures in the dark anyway and may be a distraction), which I agree with. To remedy that, they provide a photographer that accompanies the group the entire time (much like the tour guide). That would be great, but then they try and fleece you at the end by charging 30$ for each picture you want to keep (or 120$ for all of your family and some nature photos obviously not taken on your tour). I tried to stealthily take a picture of the images on the preview computer stations, but they are quite quick to catch you, so I don't have any pictures at all of this otherwise awesome tour.
If they would lower the price (even if just for digital-only versions) to something like 10-15$ per picture (and like 40-50$ for all), I'd imagine that many more people would buy them and they would probably make more money on pictures overall.
TL;DR: Very awesome tour I would recommend most people, but don't expect to get any pictures unless you're willing to spend 30$ per picture.

The wet cave is amazing but it is a little bit too much to walk. The tour guide is very knowledgeable.

Such a great experience. It’s so different and awe inspiring. The plus is definitely the way to go. I have done this now twice. Guides have been awesome and very knowledgeable. Love the rappelling wish we could do this twice lol. The only thing I don’t like is they do not allow you to take any pictures. They say it’s for your safety (oh uh) but it’s definitely to sell you their photo package. That would be fine if they didn’t charge $120 bucks for that package. It is way over priced. I of course bought it the first time since wow. But this second time it just felt like way too much after all the spending I have done lol. Plus we didn’t love the way we looked in the photos though the photos are very well professionally done and the caves look amazing. But otherwise I recommend doing this since it really is amazing. I don’t know any other place where you spend two hours walking and swimming through caves with amazing stalagmites.

Our guide was amazing. He connected with everyone in our group (there were no more than 10). He was extremely knowledgeable about the caves - both scientific and cultural aspects of the connections to the caves. He focused a lot on the story of the global ecosystem which I appreciated.
On the bike ride, our 12 year old took a turn too tight, over corrected and crashed. He got some minor scrapes on hands. Our guide did an excellent job tending to this to ensure it was disinfected. They are great about providing water and safety gear.
My only feedback is that I wish there were more places to do photos of our own that are not in the caves. We didn’t feel like the photo package was worth it for us.
Michael_D, Mar 2023
I would give this tour and company 5 starts. They were great, friendly and provided exceptional service. Our tour guide was Gustavo and can tell that he is passionate.
We do a lot of tours when traveling and this one was one of the best we ever did.
David_A, Jan 2023
Everything could’ve been great. When putting groups together I would ask for age. Also 1 truck for bike transport is ridiculous.
Pierre_L, Jan 2023
So worth! Natural experience not as commercial sites. Very close to nature. Guide Gabriel was so positive with lots of explanations. Much complete experience compare to swingning in a cenote…
Andrea_F, Oct 2022
Its a nice experience BUT wouldn't recommend it to someone travel for a first time to Playa del Carmen - Cancun. There is SOOOO much more to do, specially taking into account that you can't take pictures inside the cave as part of protection and EACH PICTURE COST 25 DOLLARS (or you can buy a package for 99 dollars).
If its your 3rd or 4th time at Yucatan peninsula, it is something that should be missed, but if its a first time visit to the place, look for something else.

Driss (tour guide) was funny, knowledgeable and very kind! He took the time to tour in two languages and never left anyone out of the fun! He even got us a ride to our hotel (we paid) but at least we didn’t have to hunt a taxi down! 10/10!
The tour itself was exciting! Repelling was scary but rewarding when we got to the bottom. The cavern was really cool and swimming in the depths of the planet…nothing cooler!!

It was beautiful, interesting and fun! What we loved most about it was the variety of activities caving, bike riding, repealing into the ceneote, and swimming through the the cave. Would definitely recommend the 'Plus' option! Everything was well maintained, professionally handled, and both culturally and ecologically sensitive. Tip: when they offer you a walking stick for cave walking take it. I have a bad knee so I took it as a procaution, but most the people who didn't take one wished they had. The floor of the cave is uneven but it can be hard to see under the water so the walking stick helps you know what's coming.
I enjoy learning new things....and we saw a fascinating new creature which is a cross between a spider and a scorpion. Our guide explained it was harmless and blind. Apparently all creatures that live in the caves ' see ' by using their long antennae to feel vibration in the pitch blackness of the cave.
Our guide was great. The groups are small so you get to know each other. In the cave it helps if you work as a team. It was everything I would want in a day trip!

This was an amazing experience! Alandra, our tour guide was great. She had such an in depth knowledge of the background of the Rio Secreto. Being in the water in this underground river for such an extended time wading and swimming among the stalagmites and stalagtights looking at the wonders God created underground was fantastic. A must experience tour.

This adventure was very cool, we spent some time in the dry caves as you were not in the water and then changed into our wet suites and we were off on a little tour to the caves were we learned a little of the history of the Mayan culture, once we were in the caves it was very exciting and beautiful as the color of the water and the reflections off the ceiling were amazing, we then went on a short mountain bike ride, to another part of the caves were we repelled down a small crevice down about 50 feet into a large cavern were we hiked out and had lunch. Our guide was Lara and she was very knowledgable of the history of the Mayan culture and the structures and materials in the caves as well as a great sense of humor.
