It is a work out. Pick up was easy. The beach was great with waves that weren't too big. The instructor was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would do it again anytime.

BUYER BEWARE!!! THIS COMPANY IS SHADY AND UNPROFESSIONAL!
My husband and I booked surfing lessons for our two young sons. After booking an afternoon session, the company reached out and told us that they only had morning sessions available. We rearranged our day and told them morning would work well for us. The driver arrived to pick us up late, but to our surprise, wanted us to send our two minor children with HIM, ALONE!!! In a foreign country, to an undisclosed location, to participate in a potentially dangerous sport, with someone who spoke very little English. We were absolutely SHOCKED! He told us that since we did not book lessons for ourselves, we would not be allowed to accompany our children. We explained to him that we were not planning to surf, which is why we didn’t book for ourselves. We were merely planning this activity for our kids. It NEVER STATED, ANYWHERE in the listing that parents would need to buy tickets if they wanted to travel with their young kids. My nine year old told me that the driver made him uncomfortable because he kept touching him (on the shoulder) while trying to encourage us to let him take our kids. We told him that he wasn’t going to take our kids without us, so he left.
I immediately reached out to Viator to let them know about the experience we had. A couple hours later, they emailed me stating that the tour company had sent me a message explaining themselves. I never received an email from them, I notified Viator of that and they never responded. The morning after, they left me know that they were not going to refund us 🤯🤯🤯 I asked what lead them to that decision and, again, they have not responded. We have filed a dispute with our credit card company. I’m so happy that I was able to leave a review and warn others of the shady way this company operates; I only wish I would have been warned before booking, too.
Also, I am so very upset to learn that Viator does not prioritize the safety of children.

The reservation was made for 2 people only. In accordance with the regulations in Tahiti, we are limited to a maximum of 8 students per lesson. Our vehicle also has 8 passenger seats, all of which are reserved for the students taking part in the lesson.
When I arrived at their hotel to pick them up, there were actually 4 people: 2 adults and 2 children. I explained that their booking was only for 2 participants and that I therefore only had 2 available seats in the vehicle, as the other 6 seats were already occupied by the other students enrolled in the lesson.
I also explained that, whenever possible, we are happy to take accompanying family members free of charge if they simply wish to watch the lesson. Unfortunately, on that day, the vehicle was full, so this was simply not possible.
Despite these explanations, this customer spoke to me in a disrespectful manner in front of the other students and refused to consider any solution. She even stated that she was unwilling to leave her children with "a stranger"—those were her exact words.
Our surf school has been operating since 1994. We teach children from the age of 5, as well as teenagers and adults. All of our instructors are fully qualified, certified, and trained to teach safely. In more than 30 years of operation, we have always placed the highest priority on safety, professionalism, and providing a positive experience for every student.

The coach is very flexible. Our boat got delayed but he still arrange an additional class in the afternoon.

I have took surfing lessons in the past. This was very similar to that one. The trainer demonstrated how to stand up on the surfboard and how to maintain balance and after that let us do it by ourselves in the water. occasionally the trainer approaced trainees individually and gave them advice.

Waves and access to the beach was a little challenging if you are a senior. As a light weight person and a first time surfer the waves were challenging to get out in without being blown over while attached to the board. Instructions were brief but supportive and then he stayed with us out in the water but had to help me get out. I would have preferred proper water shoes than bare feet. No real place to leave personal items like phones and glasses on the beach so left in locked vehicle. No photos unless you take your own camera.
