Papeete Town Hall is open to visitors during regular business hours. From Monday to Thursday, it opens at 7.30am and closes at 3.30, while it closes at 2.30pm on Fridays. It’s closed on Saturdays and Sundays—on these days, you will need to be content with seeing the attractive building from the outside.

Many people will be satisfied with seeing the Papeete Town Hall from the outside—you’ll only need a few minutes to stop and take some photos. If you have a particular interest in architecture or if there’s an exhibit showing in the gallery, you may want to schedule 30–60 minutes to look around.

Although the Papeete Town Hall was completed in 1990, it was built in an older style; it is a recreation of the 19th-century residence of Queen Pomare, which stood at a different site nearby. The building features a mix of French colonial architectural elements with traditional Polynesian style, which can be considered neoclassical.

Papeete Town Hall is right in the center of Papeete, conveniently close to other places travelers may want to visit. It’s across the road from the main ferry terminal and a couple of blocks from the must-visit Papeete Market. It’s also within easy reach of the Place Vai’ete, Bougainville Park, Pa’ofa’i Gardens, and Hokule’a Beach.
