An exellent way to learn about the history of Nelson and discover the city sights. Much better than doing it on your own. Our guide, James, was engaging and personable. He pointed out many sights that we had walked by and missed on our own.

This walking tour was excellent. Guide James was so chatty and friendly, and an absolute font of knowledge about Nelson. We saw so many places we would never have found ourselves, and learnt a lot about Nelson and its history. The tour lasted close on 3 hours. Sadly it was Sunday when we did the tour, so many shops were closed. But that was a minor thing, and we greatly enjoyed the morning, and especially appreciated James who did a marvellous job as the tour guide.

This walking tour is a must-do in Nelson. The tour guide, James, was a wealth of knowledge and made the tour very enjoyable. The pace was very achievable, there was time for questions and diversions, and the tour covered historical places of interest, culturally significance sites, art installations and galleries, parks snd gardens, and quite a few local knowledge “hidden gems”.
James is a wonderful guide and the your felt like a stroll with an old friend.

The Plus: The tour guide was very helpful in making arrangements for us both before and during the tour. The Minus: We didn't care for the fact that the tour concentrated on landmarks such as statues and gave us no real feeling for the people or the culture.

We’re glad you appreciated the unprecedented huge efforts we went to in response to your numerous requests for assistance with your arrangements that had nothing to do with the walking tour, all carried out in our own time and at our expense.
All details of the tour we provide were clearly stated on Viator at the time you booked it – covering art works, architecture, sculpture, heritage, gardens, cathedral, glass blowing, Lord of the Rings Jeweller, river walk etc. Narration for the whole tour goes into great detail about people in Nelson, their experiences, events, information about the Centre of NZ, local weather, industries, etc. There is only 1 statue on the whole tour.
We can only imagine you are recalling a different tour as all other reviews relay a totally different experience to yours, and yet the tour guide is the same and does a fantastic job for every group taken on the tour.

We enjoyed James's wide knowledge of Nelson and his friendly nature. It was great to get an overview of Nelson at the beginning of our holiday. This gave us the chance to re visit places later on. The walk was diverse covering art, gardens, history covering commercial, buildings and nautical. It was amazing holding one of the Lord of The Rings "Rings". It was also long enough to cover everything.
