I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide, Dimitris was very informative and truly passionate about his country. Seeing the Temple of Demeter was amazing! The demonstration at the pottery shop was well worth the stop. The potter was very talented and funny too. The marble quarry and the reject marble statue were great sights! Well worth the money.

It was very nice to see other areas of the island. The drive was curvy-windy and beautiful. Stops were interesting. We just wished there was a bit more time, especially in the town stop. Our tour guide and driver were fantastic. The value for the money was excellent and we are very happy we did this tour!

Additional Info

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Near public transportation
  • Most travelers can participate
  • On Tuesdays and on the 1st of May the Temple of Demeter is closed and instead you will visit Filoti village.
  • The tour guide is not licensed and thus not allowed to guide you inside Demeter's Temple and Panagia Drosiani Church. You will get all the information about the monuments before you enter.
  • This tour will take place rain or shine
  • The tour begins and ends right outside Naxos Port. Luggage storage is provided for the participants free of charge.
  • Pickup service (only-not dropoff) is provided for the guests who book the morning departure of 08.30. • You will have to climb steps and walk uphill in order to visit the Temple of Demeter
  • The Demeter's Temple closes early (noon) in case of predicted heat wave. In that case, the tour that departs in the afternoon (13.00) visits Filoti village instead of Demeter's Temple
  • It is customary upon the visit to a church to donate a small amount of 1€-5€. These money are used for the operational costs of the church and very often for donations on behalf of the church to people/ families of the community that are in need.
  • This is a fast-paced sightseeing tour designed to maximize the number of places you can visit in a limited timeframe. As a result, there is no scheduled lunch break, and there will not be enough time for a full meal during the tour. We recommend having a hearty breakfast beforehand and bringing snacks if needed.
  • • You will have to climb steps and walk uphills in order to visit the Temple of Demeter. The tour follows a relatively brisk pace, so it may be challenging and is not recommended for guests with mobility impairments.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 40 travelers

Interesting tour with a great guide

elizabeth_r, Jul 2026
Rula our tour guide and George our driver were AWESOME! Rula was so knowledgeable about not only the history of Naxos but also Greek history and mythology. She was a wonderful historian to get to know and answered all our questions. George was a very safe driver and kept the AC on full blast during the hot Greek day!! Each stop was very unique and easy to walk to once we got off the sprinter bus. The whole tour was about 4 hours, an efficient way to hit all the hot spots in Naxos if you are crunched for time (we were only there for the day) and after the tour ended we got to view the temple of Apollo and get a bite to eat. I would highly recommend this half day tour and request Rula and George again!!!

History and culture tour of Naxos

Very good and interesting trip, but we found it difficult to understand the guide’s English. He was very knowledgeable about everything in the bits we did understand.

Excellent tour

Tom_F, Jul 2026
Wonderful half day, we learnt a lot. Relaxing, diverse set of places we visited. Note that they move you along at quite a pace but this is so you can experience as much of Naxos as possible in only a half day.

A lovely but slightly too long tour. I would not advise anyone with younger kids (under 12) to take this tour. It caters mostly to adults.

A nice tour

A nice well organised half day excursion...lovely new clean van and excellent guide and driver The company also does a full day tour and maybe the overlap could be reduced

Thankful for this tour!

A Perfectly Beautiful & Educational Naxos Afternoon

Austin_S, May 2026
An absolutely amazing experience only made better by our Dimitris, and our incredible driver. The tour was very informative, and you can easily tell the passion Dimitris has for the information he's giving. This is the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Naxos, learn more about it's rich history, and get a goregous perspective of the countryside. It's not about the destination, it's about the journey; we'll see you again in our dreams when we're home, Dimitris.

Great tour!

My family really enjoyed this tour and our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. Each stop on the tour gave us a taste of the beautiful Naxos countryside. I only wish we had a few more minutes to spend at Demeter's Temple and the town. All in all, a great tour.

Well organized and interesting tour around Naxos island. We really enjoyed Thanos personal insight into naxian life. Stops were enough long for see sites.

Kelli_H, Oct 2025
So much fun exploring these sites with our excellent guide and driver - we never would have experienced these places on our own.

Wonderful introduction to Naxos.

Great way to see the Island

Lisa_G, Sep 2025
Beautiful countryside, cute little villages to experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained.

Fantastic 1/2 day tour that fits a lot in!

Dessa_M, Sep 2025
This was a fantastic 1/2 day tour of the island. It fits a lot in and takes you to sites and villages that are historical, cultural and not crowded. There are a couple of towns that have boutiques with unique items and cafes to grab a snack/coffee. This tour was very unique and special and I highly recommend it! Our tour guide was terrific! A young man named Thanos who grew up on the island of Naxos and is currently getting his masters in tourism , culture and history. Thanos speaks English beautifully and had a good sense of humor as well. It was very unique to have a tour guide that grew up on the island and was able to explain what it was like. He was also able to explain the culture on Naxos, the history and the Greek Orthodox religion. We were able to see Naxos through his eyes. We even drove through the town he grew up in as he pointed out his church, etc. This tour was very informative, enjoyable and a great way to see a lot of the island in a short amount of time. The views from some of the sites we visited and from the bus are breathtakingly beautiful! You just wouldn’t be able to enjoy the views like this if you are trying to drive a car yourself. We arrived back at 12:30 pm just in time for lunch and not too tired to do more later. Kudos to the driver George who navigated the winding roads with the big bus. I’m very glad I didn’t rent a car and instead left the driving in the hands of someone who lives here and knows how to navigate the mountainous, narrow and steep roads. Take this tour! You will be very happy you did.

We saw all of the highlights of Naxos without having to rent a car. Our guide was very nice and enthusiastic, but difficult to understand his English as he spoke fast.

Don’t waste you money!!

Lynn_E, Sep 2025
Save your money… this tour operator is unprofessional. We arrived on time (8:20) but. could not find parking. I dropped 2 of our party to the bus at 8:25 while we went to find parking….. which we found close to a mile from the meeting point. The 2 members of our party that were dropped off explained that we were finding parking and they were told that the tour needed to leave. The tour operator refused to wait for us and refused to refund us our money!!!

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Dear Lynn, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Although we normally do not respond to reviews, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few important points that ensure our shared group tours run smoothly for everyone. Punctuality is essential—not for us as organizers, but out of respect for fellow travelers who arrive on time and wait on the bus. This applies both at departure and at every stop along the way. Since we cannot keep an entire group waiting indefinitely, any delay must be limited. In your particular case: • At 08:32 (two minutes after the scheduled departure), some guests had not yet arrived. • Two members of your group were standing outside our office but did not speak with us or ask for assistance. Only when we approached them did we learn they were part of the tour, and that the remaining two had just driven away to look for parking. • Unfortunately, we could not hold the bus an additional 10 minutes for parking (you mention yourself on the review that the parking is 1 mile away), as this would have delayed everyone else. We would like to note that: 1. Our first email clearly requested guests to arrive by 08:20 to allow time for check-in and assistance if needed. 2. Had you or your friends spoken with us upon arrival, we would have gladly helped you find parking—as we have done for other guests in the past. That said, your request for a refund was not possible. Additionally, we cannot accept proposals to exchange refunds for favorable reviews, as this goes against our values and policies. We welcome your review and again thank you for the opportunity to point out all written above... We truly regret that you missed the tour and hope that in the future we may welcome you again—provided that arrival is on time, ensuring a smooth experience for both you and your fellow travelers. Thank you again for booking with us!

Alex the tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. George the bus driver navigated traffic and the narrow roads like a pro. We really enjoyed our trip and would highly recommend it.

Ticked the boxes

Samantha_C, Aug 2025
The tour ticked the boxes. We saw the promised sites, got the promised details. But the tour overall was a bit dull. It was hard to understand the guide, he was very knowledgable but his speaking style made it feel more like a recitation than a story. Overall a good tour, but nothing special.
