A nice introduction to Oman

I would recommend ensuring that your tour is on a traditional dhow boat rather then one of the more modern boats. It's much more of a relaxing environment with room to move around. The captain and crew were lovely with tea and snacks served throughout. There's not much going on at the marina where the start and endpoint is so don't think to arrive an hour beforehand and explore

The tour was in a traditional dhow boat with nice knowledge shared by the host and captain. Refreshments on board included water, soft drinks, dates and coffee. Overall a nice experience and a different view point to seeing Muscat land marks and get a little history lesson as well. Note that this gives you a view of the monuments from the sea, no entries are part of the tour.

Not suitable for aged people and young kids

Not so good experience with family, had aged people in the group and captain Bilal was not bothered, he was doing some driving the boat fast and doing some acrobatics which scared the aged people on the boat. Boat was also over crowded with no proper protection or safety. Tour is not ideal for aged and people who have hypertensive or heart issues, people should be warned before accepting this booking. Never in the details it is mentioned that it is not suitable for elderly people or people with hypertension and heart issues.

Wonderful experience

We got on the dhow style boat and were lucky as it was only about 25% capacity so we could swap sides as the views changed. The water was so smooth it was amazing (and lucky as I get sea sick on a pedalo!) and the captain expertly drove us between viewpoints and then cut the engine so we could take in the view and get our photos without pressure. We had dates, water and soft drinks on board which was very pleasant as we cruised past various forts, watchtowers and palaces before turning back at the main port and cruise terminal. The sun by now was a dim yellow glow just above the ridgeline and after it disappeared we headed back to the Al Rowdha Marina. The narrative doesn't really explain how pleasant and relaxing this trip was, the early evening being warm rather than oppressive combined with the fantastic views and calm seas made it a memorable experience. The crew were all extremely polite and decent and the boat clean and comfortable, with either a cushioned floor area or seats to sit on.

Fun for little kids

Very nice office staff and communication. The boat ride is good for families with little kids I think. I was not fun for adult travelers and not a romantic or peaceful experience. It's for kids to run around and have fun...which is fine...just not what I was expecting.

The tour is excellent! There were never ending refreshments, water, dates and omaní coffee. They used the traditional omaní boat that made the experience more interesting. My son (2.5 years old) and myself really enjoyed the sunset cruise. We were a bit disappointed in the beginning as we were offered a speed boat and not a dhow given the small number of participants, but the experience was great and we do not regret it. I particularly appreciated that the captain switched off the loud music and allowed us to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the sea. He also took us a bit further along the coast and allowed us to experience some of the lesser visited gulfs and sights. We were picked up at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised that the ride to the harbour and back was almost a private tour of old Muscat and the surroundings. All in all a very good experience which we would like to repeat when we are back in Muscat.

CUTE BUT NOTHING SPECIAL. The mini cruise departs from the Marina and crosses the coast around Muscat where it shows some of the most interesting spots (Sultan Palace, Watchtower, Corniche). Unfortunately, there was no explanation of what we saw or the historical hints. We proceeded in silence and occasionally told us what we were seeing. The sunset behind the mountains is nice, but in general don't expect much.
