Best experience ever. Nizwa is full of culture and lots to see. The views at Jebel Akhdar were immaculate, our driver Muhammad knew all the best spots for good pictures. We also had fresh rose season so made the experience even better. Our driver also took us to see the hundreds of thousands of date palms which was so beautiful to see! Pictures do not do justice at all

Amazing jam packed day with so much variety to keep us well entertained and opportunities for a whole stack of pictures. The tour gave us a lovely cultural feel and spectacular views of the mountain, the visit to the village was lovely, walking along the narrow path smelling those roses, we definitely won't forget, like the rest of the trip. The Turkish food provided certainly hit the spot.
Our guide Mohammad was superb, making us all feel super welcome and always checking if he could do anything more for us, loved our conversations and what a driver!

We had an amazing time during our full day trip to Nizwa , Jabel Akthar ans Barkat Al Mouz. Our tour guide Essa was very experienced. Explained us minute details of Nizwa , its history , gave informative tour. The Jabel Akthar views were amazing and hike between the villages was memorable experience. We were mesmerised by the ancient irrigation system of Barkat Al Mouz..
The lunch was amazing Mandi Chicken Rice with Karak Chai on our way back. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone. And if you get Essa as your tour guide consider yourself lucky..

My friend and I had an amazing time visiting Nizwa, Jebel Akhdar & Birkat Al Mouz with our tour guide Ismaili. Ismaili is the best - so kind, welcoming, knowledgable, and genuine. We started the tour visiting the Nizwa Central Souq. I loved the variety of items for sale and how store owners are not waving you into their stores. Next, we visited the Nizwa Fort. I loved learning about the history, defense areas, and different rooms. Then, our tour guide Ismaili kindly treated us to karak tea nearby the fort. Afterward, we ate lunch at a restaurant on the way to Jebel Akhdar. We walked to a couple of viewpoints of Jebel Akhdar, and the viewpoints were magnificent! After, the tour guide drove us to Birkat Al Mouz. He showed us a couple of aflaj (open channels) and around 50 abandoned houses. The ruins looked really cool, and we were able to hike up to see the town from higher up. On the drive back, Ismaili treated us to more karak tea or coffee. What an amazing day. The tour guide also shared photos he took of us during the tour. I highly recommend booking a tour with Ismaili!

This tour has a maximum of 5 people at most due to government regulations regarding 4WD to go up the green mountains. The tour guide was friendly and explained to my small group the details and gave us plenty of time to roam about the fortress and souq. I will highly recommend this tour as Nizwa is a MUST go in Oman as Nizwa fort is really beautiful and well maintained!!!

Full day Nizwa trip with veteran guide Mohammed Suleman Al Ismaili was a great adventure.
Nizwa fort is interesting to explore for an authentic Omani experience. We were fortunate to witness a lively musical performance by a group of sombre men dressed in traditional Omani clothes singing songs of valour within the fort.
In this tour, a trip to the Nizwa museum is NOT included which is a pity since many fellow travellers told us that was something we missed. Perhaps the tour planners could consider reducing the redundant 45 mins duration in the Nizwa souq & utilize it in the museum. The drive to jabel Akhdar was smoother than we expected & our guide encouraged us to hike across the canyon to the other side - that was exhilarating! On the way we crossed the famed terraced farms of roses & pomegranates which were in pruning stage & yet to achieve full blooming beauty. Nevertheless we enjoyed the 40 minute walk even though my sis & I are far from fit ! The path is not steep but there are some narrow parts which one may find scary. Enroute we crossed a guesthouse
“ Hanging Terraces ” which is an old traditional Omani home converted into a hotel - it offers good views of the canyon & if you request the owner you can go in for some pics!
The lunch at jabel akhdar was superb - it’s a good idea to take a lunch included plan.
Are Nizwa & jabel akhdar worth an overnight stay ? Not really in my opinion . The canyon is relatively small & Nizwa is quite a sleepy town - we were happy to be back in our comfortable Muscat hotel without the hassle of displacement.
A shout out to our very pleasant & patient guide Mo - the cherry on the cake was when he took us to a lovely sunset point as a surprise treat. Being part of a small group tour, we came away from Nizwa with lovely memories of 2 new travel friends.

A great day out, our guide Nabeel was very knowledgeable. It's a 2 hour journey and we slept all the way back.

Our trip which included stopping at the Nizwa Souq to buy various delicious dates, to visiting the awesome Nizwa Fort, experiencing the wonderful view of Green Mountain and ending with the ancient farming water ducts of Aflaj made for a most enduring and memorable trip for us. Our guide and driver Aiman was superb and his stories were really interesting and educational. We had a wonderful day!
MICHIRU_W, Jan 2026
It was a fantastic tour and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide, Aiman, was able to tailor the tour to suit our needs. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Nizwa.

We had an excellent driver for the day-Saeed. He did a wonderful job of driving us and making us feel comfortable and welcome. He couldn’t do enough for us.
We were provided with a lovely karak chai on our drive to Nizwa. Saeed knew all the great photo stops and view points and made sure we saw them all. Lunch was amazing, a basic restaurant with great food and service.
Can’t recommend this company enough, especially Saeed. Thank you.

We booked the Nizwa tour with Zahrat Muscat Tours LLC through Viator, and it exceeded all our expectations.
We traveled as a family with two children, and from the very first moment our guide, Mr. Mohammed, made us feel incredibly welcome and well taken care of. We never felt like “just tourists”, rather like honored guests.
The tour was not only about visiting beautiful places (the Nizwa Fort and the souq are truly impressive), but also about experiencing authentic Omani hospitality and culture. Mr. Mohammed was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and very thoughtful toward our children, which made the whole day relaxed and enjoyable for everyone.
This was a memorable and meaningful experience, and one of the highlights of our trip to Oman.
Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a personal, high-quality tour experience.

This is an incredible excursion. You will travel to see a souk, Nizwa Fort, lunch up in the mountains, gaze down into the valley and a surprise viewpoint before heading back to Muscat
Our tour guide, Adbullah was extremely polite and knowledgeable, pointing out details that I would have missed. An excellent tour guide!

Tour to Nizwa was awesome, the fortress is like a cool maze to explore with hidden rooms and amazing panorama from the top. The village located in mountain valley has amazing scenery with stunning views. The tour was perfectly timed with a great mix of culture and nature. We never felt rushed, and each stop was super interesting. Our guide M. Sulaiman was fantastic, he is a local and knows so much about the area which made everything feel more personal and real. Definitely recommend this tour if you want a blend of history and breathtaking views

Great day trip with Isham(I hope I spelled this right) to Nizwa and the green mountains. It was great to have a small group tour, literally five of us and a guide and it was a really good time. Enjoyed all of the sites and learning about Omani heritage along the way. Would definitely recommend as a trip while in Oman.
Annabel_G, Dec 2025
It’s a versatile trip packed with history, nature and culture; a perfect day spent outside of Muscat. We were a group of five, ranging from 21 months to 82 years old, and all loved it!

A fantastic day exploring Nizwa and the mountains. Mohammed was our expert driver and guide for the day. He was knowledgeable, relaxed, friendly and very attentive. Highly recommend this trip.
Helen_A, Oct 2025
An amazing exploration of the mountains, history and tastes of Oman. Mohammed was our expert guide and driver for a full day of varied activities.
We thoroughly enjoyed the colour, tastes and smells of the Nizwa market followed by a walk through the well restored Nizwa Fort. The hour long drive up to the Jebel Akhdar mountains on excellent but steep roads was well worth the spectacular view from the top and the cooler temperature. After lunch we travelled back down the mountain to Birkat Al Mouz to view the falaj system and walked through a date plantation.
Our guide was relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable.
Craig_P, Oct 2025
Enjoyed the variety of the trip and history of Oman given. Hisham was an excellent guide. Enjoyed the Souq, fort and going up into the mountains.
