This must’ve been the best experience of our holiday so far. The guide and captain were friendly, knowledgable and very respectful towards the whales. This created the ultimate natural experience which made seeing these creatures in person even more majestic.

It is important to know that the whales are in charge here-they choose when and if they show up! But, having knowledgeable guides sure does help! Willie and Louis were wonderful and helped us have the best experience-once in a lifetime for sure

Once in a lifetime experience swimming with a mom and baby whale! Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and gave clear instructions to ensure we were safe and also able to get very up close and personal! Would highly recommend Moorea Expeditions for this experience!

Guide and Captain were skilled and made our experience safe and amazing. You need to be comfortable in the water and confident using mask and snorkel. You have to swim fast and be aware of your surroundings

We did the half day swimming with whales. We ended up going in the water twice and saw a calf the first time and a mama and calf the second time. AMAZING experience! If you’re going to moorea it is a must do activity, nothing like it.

Absolutely fantastic morning! I felt our guide respected the whales and made sure we didn't stress them while still giving us enough time with them. Wetsuits are highly recommended so you don't have to wear a life jacket, which is French law. I can't stress enough how magical it is to have a mom humpback whale and her calf swim right past you!

It was a once in a lifetime experience! Our guide found the whales within a few minutes and we were in the water swimming next to these gentle giants. Definitely recommend taking a GoPro to capture the memories.

Choppy waters so take a seasickness pill ahead of the tour, otherwise you might lose your lunch.
Bring a smile and lots of patience waiting for the whales’ appearance.

We had an amazing day out with the whales. Our guides and captain were so knowledgeable and made sure to keep everyone safe and having a good time. We were lucky enough to get in the water three times today. Saw dolphins and whales. What an amazing experience. Thanks Moorea Expeditions!

This was an amazing experience from pick up to drop off. Taxi was on time at resort and super pleasant. Johnny and his captain were tremendous, safety was a priority for the whales and participants. He explained everything wonderfully and offered in both French and English. We were able to make two entries into the water the first with a mom and two calves and the second the same, except from the boat you could see there were two pods meeting up. The captain and Johnny navigating to the second entry point was amazing to watch — how they understood the ocean, whales and movements. We didn’t focus on taking pictures but on the experience. It was truly amazing.
Caution — you have to be able to swim very comfortably in open water and be in reasonable shape.

We swam with a mom and baby humpback, sharks, stingrays, turtles. Guide at Moore Expeditions was awesome! Overall a 10 out of 10 for us! HUMPBACKS!!!!!!! We got luck mid Nov las day of the season to swim with them. Highlight of the trip!

This excursion was the best activity we did in French Polynesia! The whales were unreal and a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Joe knew exactly where to go to see them and Grace took great photos for us. Thank you Moorea Expedition!

The excursion was phenomenal. The only down side was that I was the only NON French speaking person on the boat so there was tons of casual conversation between the tour guides and all the other passengers. I was only talked to when they needed to give me instructions on what to do so I was left out of the loop most of the day.

There is nothing like the experience of seeing humpback whales in the wild! It's truly once-in-a-lifetime! We visited Moorea in October, which is when you can swim with them too! Be prepared to bring your own means of capturing these moments- do not rely on the company for photos (even if they state there is a photographer on board.)
This company certainly covered the basics. The importance of safety was emphasized for both the people and the animals, and again- the encounter/experience was so special.
However, the reason for the 3 stars and not 5, is that there are other companies out there that earned more! We decided on a few different tours (and companies) and were able to directly compare- and we recommend you do the same. Pros of this company: small group, safety. Cons of this company: communication, opportunities for professional photographers, environmental/biological/scientific explanations from the guide.
Enjoy the whales, but be sure that whatever company you select, they deliver on their promises to match your expectations!

Amazing trip! Had a humpback whale swim right under us! Saw another mother and calf of swim in front of us later. And then later, 2 more humpback underneath us resting for a few minutes.
Topped it off with by swimming with blacktop sharks and stingrays. Memorable trip would be an understatement!

This was a dream! So very exciting to be able to look eye to eye with these marvelous creatures. My GoPro picked up much singing. It was a beautiful experience. The relatively small boat did not feel crowded. And our crew in the water, Joe and Laura, were very knowledgeable and we were comfortable with the swim and safety. And our captain crept and found us a family! Awesome outing. We are 60+ and experienced same as all the youngsters

As a once in a lifetime experience we were definitely disappointed. The photographer explained the guide would not be a taxi and this excursion was for strong swimmers only. Our 1st time off the boat my husband and I were the two at the back. So we stayed on the boat the rest of the excursion only to witness the guide being a taxi. We sure would have loved for the guide to say “I can offer some assistance so you don’t miss out but, that was not case.

Very knowledgeable crew who were determined to find a whale. After several sightings from the boat we were finally able to get in the water and watch one ascend from the depths of the ocean. Truly a magical experience like no other!! Must be very comfortable snorkeling in an open ocean.
