This was a really fun activity in Montreal. We had a wonderful tour guide Constance who was not only extremely knowledgeable but entertaining (we're still laughing 2 days later from her jokes). The tour is entirely in Old Port so you get to see the sights while walking. I highly recommend taking this tour if you have time in Montreal.

The itinerary of this themed tour will take you in different streets and alleys of Old Montréal, from Places Royale to Bonsecours Market. As you explore the city streets in search of notorious criminals and villains, you’ll hear fascinating stories about crimes, hangings, fires, witchcraft and mysterious phenomena that stump even ghost experts. Our guide, Carmella, was perfect! She was dressed the part and was ready to give our group, including our son (11) and another boy (10) a fun tour. She is quite the storyteller! The entire group had a great time walking the ghostly streets of Old Montreal. I would highly recommend this tour!

Our guide Godfroy was incredibly entertaining. She managed to make the little alleyways off of main streets seem spooky. She never broke character and I’ve never enjoyed a ghost tour more!

Great people, but not for us

The tour was good and the acting by the guide was great. But it felt very gimmicky and we only heard 4 stories in 1.5 hrs. The toured seemed to be more focused on acting as the guides are dressed up as ghosts vs actual ghost stories.

Not so much of a haunted, historical tour but rather an over-the-top theatre performance.

I really didn’t want to leave a negative review. I contacted the company privately first and requested a refund after we left the tour within the first 15–20 minutes, but unfortunately they declined. So, a word of caution for anyone considering booking this tour. If you enjoy being brought around downtown Montreal and feeling humiliated in public, this may be the tour for you. If you’re looking for a spooky historical ghost tour with interesting facts, creepy stories and fascinating locations, I would suggest finding another company. We booked this expecting something similar to the Haunted Walk tours we’ve experienced in Ottawa and Kingston, where you’re taken through historical areas while hearing about the history, hauntings and stories associated with different locations. Instead, this felt much more like an over-the-top interactive theatre performance. Our guide, Violet, spent much of the time yelling, attempting jump scares and behaving in a way that we found incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially while walking through busy areas of downtown Montreal. We weren’t the only ones who felt this way. Another couple visiting Montreal on holiday also left the tour around the same time we did. We lasted approximately 15–20 minutes before deciding we simply weren’t enjoying ourselves and walked away. I completely understand that some people may enjoy this style of interactive performance, but I think the nature of the experience should be much clearer when booking because this was absolutely not what we expected when booking a historical ghost tour. I’m sure the company may want to respond to this review and explain or defend the experience, and of course they are entitled to do so. However, I want to be clear that I gave them the opportunity to address this privately before posting anything publicly. I reached out directly, explained why we left and requested a refund. They chose to decline it. That is actually the most frustrating part for me. This could have been resolved quietly and immediately, without a negative review at all. I made a point of giving the company that opportunity first because I would much rather resolve a disappointing experience directly with a business than post about it publicly. Since they chose not to resolve it when given that opportunity, I feel it’s only fair to share our experience so that other travellers can make an informed decision about whether this particular style of tour is what they are looking for.

The tour operator was animated and dramatic, maybe a bit too much. He treated it like a theater presentation, which can also take away from the credibility of the stories shared. It was fun. I saw some of the older and more interesting parts of the city.

Tour guide was entertaining but very little haunting places and most were about women, witches and public torture. Maybe 5 locations. With old Montreal as historic I thought there would be more. We have done a few walks in other locations and were excited for this one but this was our least favourite. Kingston Ontario was the best

Great experience! We learned some Ville Marie (Montréal) history, were spooked « just enough » and really felt like we were transported to the 1700’s!!!
