Guests are invited to meet the guide next to the Bank of Montreal Clock in front of 155 St. Jacques Street. The location is on the north-east corner of St. Francois-Xavier and St. Jacques Streets, very close to Metro Place d'Armes on the Orange Line.

The narrator talked for 15 min before the tour even started and then took us to random spots on the streets & told non sensensical stories. He seemed like he was on something. There were too many people on the tour and we couldn't hear him half the time. I'd like a refund. I have been on several other haunted tours that were well done & interesting. This one was a disappointment

This does not sound like our tour at all. We do not use random spots or tell nonsensical stories. Our guides are professional actors who can easily project their voices for the group and certainly are not "on something". If it is indeed our tour, we will certainly provide a refund once we have heard the actor's side of the story. Just contact us!

Our guide’s narrative had too much violent and gory content. So much emphasis on bloody heads being decapitated and scalped is unnecessary in a Haunted Tour. Telling our group which included young children that prisoners would have sex with whore is inappropriate. Not enough emphasis was put on the architecture we walked by nor its history. Our guide did not engage with the group and did not create a convivial atmosphere amongst us. He also walked fast between stations.

This is one of the most bizarre "reviews" I have ever read. As the creator of the tour, I can tell you that it is a ghost tour and not an architecture tour. We reject the idea of transforming our tour into a Disneyesque experience. We tell the history as it happened and do not whitewash or gloss over the colonial atrocities of the city's dark and genocidal past. There is also nothing in the text about prisoners having sex with "whores". In reality, it was the wardens taking advantage of the imprisoned sex workers. The tour is also extremely historical and contextualizes Montreal and its ghosts within the various eras, from precolonial to the present. Our website is also clear that there are very dark themes and history and that parents should take that into consideration before bringing young children. I will consult the guide to hear their side of the story and verify your allegations. Please contact us, and if the allegations prove to be true, we will certainly refund you.

If you’re seeking history, this is it! While our guide was animated in her storytelling, it was more history than anything. Could have been a day time tour.

It was a great history lesson. Less of a “ghost tour” and more of a great story telling of terrible events that happened in the past. Horrific events for sure, but we were really hoping to hear more of why the spots are haunted and examples of haunts. The guide was fantastic story teller, but we were tempted to leave about midway and explore the area on our own.

The guide was very animated and fun and well spoken. However, we had to walk very fast to keep up with the guide, cover a good distance between stories. The ghost stories were so-so. The group size was also too large with 30 attendees, and a total of 40 attendees allowed.

While it’s important to note that this isn’t a ghost-hunting adventure with EMF readers or paranormal investigations, it more than makes up for that with incredibly rich storytelling and historical depth.
Our guide was engaging, knowledgeable, and really brought the legends and lore of Old Montreal to life. From eerie tales of long-lost souls to chilling stories rooted in real historical events, every stop on the tour offered a fascinating glimpse into the city’s hidden history. The atmosphere — especially as night falls on those cobblestone streets — adds just the right amount of spookiness without being too scary for younger participants.
If you’re looking for a theatrical, educational evening walk through one of Montreal’s most iconic neighborhoods, this tour is an excellent choice. It’s family-friendly, thoughtfully presented, and a unique way to experience the city after dark. Highly recommended!

The guided knew what he was talking about. The issue is, where were the ghost stories? He would tell us about something horrific happened here, and then be like, next stop. We left half way thru.

Hi Zachary, as the creator of the tour, I am quite surprised that you felt there were not enough ghost stories! All of our ghost tours are based on the deranged history of Montreal and the resulting spirits that haunt the city. The Haunted Old Montreal tour actually features around a dozen different ghost stories over a span of 90 minutes. I am disappointed that you left half way through, especially as the second half of the tour features more ghost stories than the first half. It is important to set up the historical context for each tour at the beginning so clients can better appreciate how the ghost stories came into being. I know that many other ghost tours tell random stories with no context or connection to each other, but Haunted Montreal is proud to weave disturbing local history with real ghost stories to create a more profound experience.

The walk was interesting and funny. There were lots of information about how the Natives were dominated by the French. Some interesting ghost stories. Make sure to dress for the weather!

We did the haunted walking tour and really loved it. Our tour guide was excellent, entertaining and incredibly well educated on the topics at hand. The tour is a great way to see old Montreal and is as much a really interesting lesson in the history of the neighbourhood as a tour of the supernatural, but definitely had elements of both. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to see more of Montreal, learn about it's history and hear some amazing ghost stories
