Well worth a visit if you love nature

Lovely quiet trip off the beaten track. Not commercial and no hard sell. A great experience. Only an hour there but wonderful native birds and beautiful view. Well worth a visit.

Heavenly bird experience

The bird sanctuary is beautiful! The gentleman tour guide sat us down right away on a beautiful deck surrounded by lush forest. We were given nectar and almost immediately we were feeding hummingbirds! I’m a bird lover so this was special to me but I believe anyone who loves nature would enjoy.

Disappointing

We where not able to do this excursion. After standing outside waiting for the tour company to arrive we had the bell hop call the tour company and they stated they sent an email the day before the tour in the afternoon changing the tour time from 9am to 130pm. My email service was spotty at best since arriving in Jamaica, so we never received the email. They had our phone number they could have tried calling, texting or the easiest would have been to call the Resort and leave a message for us to call them. When I got on the phone and spoke with the tour company the man said he assumed I got the message and when I told him I did not, and that I would have to cancel the excursion he got upset and kept questioning me on why we couldn’t just do the 130pm time change. We had a golf tee time already scheduled at for that afternoon. The whole thing was very stressful, this was an excursion that I was so looking forward to. We couldn’t even reschedule because we were leaving to go home the next morning at 1030am.

Hi Kenneth! Thank you for providing your feedback on the experience you received from us. I sincerely apologize if we had inconvenience you and your travelling party by rescheduling the time of your tour. I remembered having this conversation with and where I explained that the time change was beyond our control. This was due to the fact that the Rockland Bird Sanctuary had a group of 30 people on that day and their property isn't big enough to accomadate a large group. The group they had was split in two and as such we wouldn't be able to do the tour at the time you requested. If we had do the pickup at the time you requested we would have to wait for at least 2 hours which at that point you would probably get frustrated,exhausted and less interested when it was your turn to do the tour. We only wanted to ensure that when you were comfortable and relaxed while doing your tour. When I found out that information I immediately sent you an email which was our original médium of communication with you. I do understand that your service wasn't that great and I do agree with you that we could’ve either called the hotel and left a message and call you personally. We received your call 5 minutes after the schedule pickup time and during that conversation you expressed that you no longer wanted to do the tour. I was not getting upset but concerned as to why the time wouldn't work for you. I wanted to find out if there was anything we could’ve done to fix the issue,I even offered to send a driver at 9am however you declined stating that you wouldn't be able to do the tour then nor at a later time due to the fact that you already have a Golf appointment scheduled,you requested a refund and I immediately went ahead and issued it to your original form of payment. I can understand that this was something that you were really looking forward to and I do apologize for not taking the time to call or text to inform you however changing the time of the tour was beyond our control and in our pickup information listed on Viator it states that an email address is needed for follow-up and confirmation on your pickup time hence the reason why we chose to email as our first option rather than call as it's also expensive for us to call international telephone numbers it's also recommended to reach out to us via WhatsApp/IMessage on the phone number provided on the booking ticket once again I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
