John did a great job explaining all strategies of the trip. Kept us informed and on schedule. Speech was clear always.

The guides were very organized and worked hard to be sure we all got where we going and on time. Everything went very smoothly. We had a great time. Each town was unique and beautiful. Do it. You'll love it.

Horrible! Tour operator gave wrong return information. We got stranded in another town and had to purchase our own train tickets to get back to our hotel. Don’t book anything with Ciao Florence Tours Srl

A beautiful part of Italy!! Although it was crowded, we still had a wonderful experience exploring each village.

Disaster from start to finish. The guide was totally dismissive of us,and we abandoned with no clear guidance

This was an absolute must experience! Stunning views, and so much fun! This was our favorite part of the entire Italy trip!

It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. I’m so very glad we added it to our trip this is a must see.
Gill_G, Apr 2025
Guide was good but it was constant on and off trains and little time spent at each town / village . Very busy multilingual trip obviously very popular but too big a group . Would have been better if the group was smaller . Pretty place though and the guide was very helpful
Deborah_S, Oct 2024
Viator added nothing to this tour, if you can call it that. Our "guide" offered no commentary on the way there. His "guidance" at each stop was minimal if any and inaccurate many times. We could have done this on our own for less.

I specifically booked this tour for my 18-year-old as it was an accompanied tour and the description was clear about the guide accompanying the group and giving precise instructions on the bus trip. My daughter and six others were basically abandoned at the train station midway through the trip. I can’t imagine what she would’ve done if she hadn’t been with adults who were also left behind because the tour guide failed to give proper instructions. While my youngster is shy. The other adults in the group were not and told the guide in no uncertain terms that he had not only stressed out, but had failed to follow the basic protocols of keeping the group together. Instead, he failed to tell everyone that they were getting off of the third stop so half of the group in one car of the train got off and the other half of the group ended up at the last station three stops down the line because they were not given clear instructions. The fact that seven people ended up somewhere completely different than the rest of the group tells you it wasn’t one person that misunderstood instructions. It was three couples and my daughter. I specifically chose a guided tour so that my youngster would feel at ease. When she called me in a panic halfway through the morning, it’s stressed the entire family out . I would not recommend “Ciao Italy” for any tours

Good guides. Cheerful team. Everything clear and on time. The weather didn't stop us from enjoying the trip. Thanks for the good memories!

Thank you, we hope to see you soon on another tour with us!

The incredible views. However, we moved through the jam packed towns so quickly that we couldn’t truly enjoy ourselves. I would have been happier spending more time in fewer towns. Our tour guide was a complete gentleman and sweetheart, however, I recommend that he write down an itinerary cuz he had to yell out instructions and it was challenging to know what we were doing next.

We were looking forward to this trip as part of our honeymoon. The bus was crowded and uncomfortable. We spent less than one hour in most of the pop towns. There was a significant amount of time spent waiting in the train stations vs seeing the sights. I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Dear Carol, we're very sorry to hear that our tour didn't meet your expectations.
The tour you've been on is a group tour, we also have the small group version for the same tour, perhaps it would have been perfect for you.
This tour is one of our bestsellers and it is designed for visitors who maybe come to Italy once in a lifetime and want to make the most of their experience and visit the more they can. That's why we offer to visit 4 of the 5 lands with one hour free time in each village.
About the trains and train stations, unfortunately it's a public service and beyond our control, and as you may have noticed, it's the only option to move around Cinque Terre. During the high season there are many people and unfortunately sometimes the waiting times are a little longer than usual and the trains are crowded. The best period to join a Cinque Terre Tour is of course during spring or autumn, we really hope you can come back in another season to try again this experience!
Best regards,

The title of their tour is misleading. Nowhere in their description did they state that you can only be picked up in Montecatini Terme if it reached a certain minimum number of customers. They did not want to pick me up because they said I was the only one who booked in Montecatini Terme, and suggested I go to their pickup in Florence instead! I suggest that they put the disclaimer and have the customer contact them first before confirming payment. Or better yet, DON'T put the tour under Montecatini Terme. As it is, not only do I have the hassle of finding a last-minute replacement tour, even if I get a refund I am already penalized with the foreign exchange differential. I recommend to avoid this tour company when booking from Montecatini Terme.

An almost full bus arrived from Florence on time. We travelled to Levantine where we then boarded a train to Manarola. After spending time walking through the streets at our own pace, we reboarded the train to Monterosso. We time for lunch there, again cruising the streets of the old town, after which, we boarded a boat to Vernazza. We had sufficient time to look around the town, to take the wonderful architecture and scenery. Boarding the train again for a trip to Riomaggiore, the last town in the 5, but we didn’t visit the town of Cornelia. At Riomaggiore, we walked up,the streets to the wonderful church high above the railway station, giving marvellous views over the old town and coast. On the way down, we took a short cut back to the station by lift, sore legs from lots of wonderful scenery walking. The only thing we would have liked, was a longer trip on the boat, but otherwise, thoroughly enjoyed our trip, the tour leader and driver did their jobs very well. Thank you for a great day Viator.

When I was in this area, I knew I could not miss out on this trip, from the smooth booking online to the actual day, I was totally invested.
We had two guides one Spanish speaker the other English speaker and they where truly amazing, they where extremely thorough in their communication.
They guided a large group very effectively and had a great sense of humour
We had the lunch option which was of a very high standard - would highly recommend
Patricia_S, Apr 2024
Exploring the different towns what’s the highlight. I have two complaints I was charged approximately $130 for the tour without lunch from Montecatiini. Another traveler was charged $100 with lunch from Florence. Why the difference? Also, something must be done with the long walk to get back to the bus after the tour.

Sabatha was great! Just the right amount of information and plenty of time to explore the 4 stops in Cinque Terra. Had a great day, thanks Sabatha.

Our trip to Cinque Terre was beautiful. The little villages were very picturesque. The fried fish window had amazing calamari
Nancy_D, Sep 2023
Boat ride was disappointing! Too much in one day. Lunch was very rush .. good mediocre and the service was terrible!’
Kathy_Y, Sep 2023
Picture postcard. Looked exactly like the pictures showed it. We loved the story of how the hoses became painted the different colors and how blue the water was.
We shopped the quaint shops and ate gelato. One of the highlights of our trip to Italy.
Kathryn_E, Jul 2023
Despite traveling with 79 other people, we received very good service from our tour guide Sebastian.
rxrph, May 2023
The bus was over 15 minutes late at the pickup and was filled with folks that boarded in Florence and few seats for my friend and I. 71 people on a tour with one guide is ridiculous!! Shame on you! We learned nothing and guide was just there to tell us what time to come back to catch the next train. Very disappointed.
Response from Host, May 2023
Dear Client;
We are sorry to read that you didn’t enjoy our tour.
The bus leaves from Florence and it makes a stop in Montecatini to pick up who is spending their holidays there instead of having them come to Florence early in the morning. It is an additional service that we offer and we think that it can be very useful for those who decide to participate in this tour but stay outside Florence.
The Cinque Terre tour is one of our bestsellers and it offers the chance to visit 4 out of 5 lands and enjoy the magnificent landscape other than the opportunity to get on a mini cruise on the crystalline sea. That’s why lots of tourists are happy to join this tour with us so it goes without saying that there are lots of participants. We offer this tour as private or semi-private at a higher price, perhaps, it would have been the best option for you.
Anyways, we hope you noticed that once in La Spezia the group is splitted in two smaller so as to be followed properly.
We have an experienced staff of tour leaders that explains a lot about the history and curiosity of the visited places. We are sorry to read that you felt kind of neglected, we will forward your comment to the tour leader in charge so that he can improve the service.
We hope to welcome you again in the future and we wish you a lovely day.
Kind Regards,
CiaoFlorence Staff

Excellent guides. Very organised. Kept to time.
Had a lovely trip but would have been better if the boat trip was earlier in the tour
Karen_O, Mar 2023
Our guide was awesome and was great gathering a large group.. recommend this trip in shoulder seasons.. less crowds
catedoerr, Mar 2023
The lunch we had was very nice. It was wonderful to see four of the five towns. All the people on the tour were fun loving people.
Susan_M, Sep 2022
I was appalled to find that there were 59 people on this tour and without any means of communication other than shouting it was very difficult to hear the guide who was obviously very knowledgeable. Despite his best efforts a lot of information was missed. Added to this the bus used to transport us to Spezia was very old and not particularly clean. Unfortunately because of the weather the boat ride was cancelled so we had to use the train, which was standing room only, to each of the villages. I realise that some things that are outwith the control of the tour company but knowing how busy this tour is in September I do feel that they could have put 2 guides on the bus to split such a large number. Either that or invest in the technology which I noticed that other tour groups had. The Cinque Terre is an amazing place to visit but I have to say I was disappointed with the tour and would not book with this company again.

First and foremost, our guide Valentina was fantastic! She was very well organized, informative, helpful, friendly, hugely enthusiastic - and Cinque Terre did not disappoint.
This is a 4 star review rather than 5 because of the description on Viator. It states the duration as approx 11 hours, including travel time. We booked from a smaller city. Our booking did not indicate that we were joining an existing tour originating in another city. This makes sense & we had no problem with this - it was great to meet other travelers. However, the duration was for the originating city leaving us the impression we’d have longer visits to each of the villages. This extra time would have been welcome.
