Itinerary

Meet your guide and small group in central Moab to start the first portion of your combo adventure, a half-day tour of Canyonlands National Park by 4WD. Hop into the vehicle for a thrilling morning drive over rugged terrain to the Island in the Sky. From here, your guide traverses switchbacks to White Rim Road, a 100-mile (160-kilometer) loop situated roughly 1,000 feet (300 meters) below the mesa and the same distance above the Colorado and Green rivers.

Your guide follows a section of the White Rim Road where you're treated to a panoramic vista of Fossil Point before connecting to the Shafer Trail. Listen as your guide shares the human and natural history of Canyonlands, and stop for photo ops of ancient rock art en route to the mesa summit before refueling with a riverside buffet lunch.

Next, descend the canyon to ride the white-water rapids of the Colorado River, including the Fisher Towers area that features soaring canyon walls, giant rock spires, and plenty of wildlife. This half-day portion of your adventure begins with a safety briefing. Once you're outfitted with a life jacket, climb into an awaiting raft with a river guide who expertly navigates your raft over Class II and III rapids.

Rest assured that sections of calm water follow, where you can relax, take photos (waterproof bag provided) or even swim if temperatures allow. After a fun-filled day off-roading and rafting in this spectacular wilderness, return to Moab, where your tour ends.

An excellent way to see Canyonlands- the morning tour took us through the back country, including a thrilling ride up Shaffer Canyon. Our guide, John, had so much experience & knowledge that he shared with us most enthusiastically- he really made the trip! The afternoon rafting trip was very beautiful & quite peaceful. Our guide, Eli, was an absolute delight! A very experienced river guide, full of local knowledge- scientific & cultural- & extremely willing to make sure his guests enjoyed the trip. Highly recommend Navtec & their special guides.

Nice but not what I thought it was going to be

Adam_S, Oct 2025
This was a combination tour. The first part of the day was driving around in a 4x4 in Canyonlands. I’m not sure what I was expecting but this ride was really bumpy and there were some serious sections that were very high up on windy roads with no barriers. I wish I had known that before I signed up. Our driver was very good but overall I was a left a little disappointed by this - and somewhat freaked out! The second half of the day was rafting. Again I was left disappointed mainly because I was under the impression from the marketing of this that it was white water rafting. It was not. It was a float down the river. It was nice but again, not what I was expecting.

Canyon and River Rafting-Summer 2025

The experience with Matt Urry was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and kind. He went above and beyond as a guide! Would highly recommend the trip through the canyon with him! Trevor-our rafting guide was incredible! He was funny, so sweet, and made us all feel safe. I would highly recommend touring the Colorado River with him and Navtek! Great job!

Nice day trip!

Ashley_L, May 2025
Canyonlands experience was excellent!! Enjoyed the switchback trails and the spectacular views. The river rafting in the afternoon was enjoyable but the river was low and therefore not an adventurous trip as I was hoping it would be. Overall I enjoyed the day. They provided lunch and snacks and and I got some really great photos!

We had a great tour of the Canyonlands with our tour guide John who was very knowledgeable and full of stories and fun facts about the Moab area.

Really good stuff, also just know what you’re getting into.

Caleb_M, May 2025
We had lots of fun and our guides for both the 4x4 and rafting tours did a fantastic job! Bring sunscreen and a hat because you will be under the sun with no chance of shade for 4 hours. Also be aware that you’re signing up for a gentler ride down the river. We had a blast and learned a lot!

Great day.

Cindy_W, Oct 2024
We had a great time with Marsha and Will. Both were very knowledgeable and fun. Great way to spend a day and learn about the area.

Favorite Day of our whole trip

Patricia_L, Sep 2024
Courtney was so chatty and fun for the 4x4 half of the trip. She’s knowledgeable and we had such fun seeing Canyonland which is truly awe inspiring. Joe was our river guide for lunch and the 2nd half of the day. The rapids were no more than level 2 which is exactly what we hoped for. He was also chatty, knowledgeable and led us on a fun afternoon. Would highly recommend

Fabulous tour!!

The NAVtec adventure both the 4x4 and raft trip were as promised and more! Guides were super knowledgeable attentive and friendly! You can’t go wrong with any one of their tours! 10 out of 5 stars from the Virginians!

Enjoyed the back roads at Canonland and the relaxing raft trip. Both guides were friendly and fun. Will want to come back. Xxxxxxx

Canyonlands/rafting

Caryn_S, Jul 2024
While the Canyonlands was beautiful it was very uncomfortable in the SUV (not a Jeep) and difficult to view the park from the back of the vehicle. The “white water rafting” was floating down the river. Absolutely no white water! Our guides were very nice and knowledgeable, just not the experience I thought I was paying for.

Well worth the time and money

Bud_K, Jul 2024
Great tour both the 4x4 and the river rafting was great. The guides on the 4x4 tour did a really good job explaining all the sites. The views being down in the canyons give a whole another perspective rather than just riding along the top looking from view points. The river rafting was fun my wife was worried about rapids but rest assured it will be a great time rapids were fun with out all the danger I would recommend to anyone. The staff from the people in the office to all the guides we were involved were excellent. Great job to all the employees

Definitely worth it.

Colleen_G, May 2024
The 4 x 4 is actually an old Toyota SUV, the guide, however, made the trip he was so knowledgeable. Took time to take pictures. The rafting was a unique experience to see the canyonlands from below.

Worth the money

Brian_M, Sep 2023
Matt was not only a good driver but an amazing tour guide. He made a good trip into a great one. Ask for him by name if you're doing 4x4!

Great Day

Danielle_B, Sep 2023
The trip was great from top to bottom. Brian was fun to be around and shared so much knowledge on the 4x4 portion of the trip. Lance was our guide on the river portion and we had a fantastic relaxing float down the river. Highly recommend if your time in Moab is limited.

Not White Water Rafting

Steve_H, Aug 2023
Thought we were doing a White Water rafting trip, but it's really just a float down the river. If that's what you want our guide Wyatt was wonderful.

Best of both worlds

Douglas_B, Jul 2023
Both Victor and Aiden were super friendly, very knowledgeable and just awesome guides. The Canyonlands tour with Victor was a great way to start the day, but our favorite part was how Aiden maneuvered the raft around the others on the river starting splash fights with all the other boats.

Fun Moab Adventure!

Harry_D, Jul 2023
The Canyonlands 4x4 trip was fantastic. Victor, our guide was knowledgeable, experienced, and FUN! The Colorado River rafting tour was well orchestrated, very safe, and a great first time rafting experience. Our guide, Adriana, was exceptional!

Worth it!

Neil_B, Jun 2023
This was super fun and super worth it! For all ages (well maybe not rafting for toddlers and babies). We were all completely blown away by the scenery and exhilarating road that we took in Canyonlands NP on the 4x4 part. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. And I don’t feel like I need to get in to too much of the rafting part …I mean, it’s the Colorado River. Do it

Lisa_M, Jun 2023
We had a great time! Both guides (Matt and Katie) were amazing and very informative! I definitely recommend!

Great day with NavTec

Andrew_B, May 2023
We had a fantastic time. Matt was the 4x4 guide and he did not disappoint. Very knowledgeable about the area and skilled driving those narrow switchbacks. Loved it! Zoe was our river rafting guide and although the Colorado was a record levels, and she was fairly now, a great time was had by all. Zoe was knowledgeable and friendly when discussing points of interest along the way. The second part of the day was equally enjoyable. Andy and Trish Bachman

Great experience with engaging, enthusiastic guides

bxcbp2g4cs, May 2023
As someone who hadn't been to this part of the country before, I really didn't know what to expect. My Navtec guides — Bronson, Cole, Wyatt, and Lake — were friendly, engaging, skilled, and knowledgeable. They clearly love this place and their enthusiasm is contagious. The entire experience — not just what I did and saw, but who was taking me to these places and telling me about them — was simply incredible. I would not hesitate to recommend Navtec to anyone heading in this direction.

Great Time in Moab

Metta_S, May 2023
My sister and I had learned a lot from our guides, and had a great time not having to worry about a thing.

Just can't beat Mother Nature !

Randy_P, Oct 2022
Peacefulness of rafting on the river ,the excitment of 4 wheeling the rim in Canyonland. Everyone was great and the area is beautiful, we Highly reccomend this tour .

4x4/rafting combo

Rebecca_M, Sep 2022
John was an awesome guide for the 4x4 portion of our day, filled with a lot of historical knowledge of the area along with fun conversation. He truly knew the area and appreciates the nature surrounding Moab. John alone we would give a 5/5. Our rafting guide was finishing his first year as a river guide and worked very hard physically to get us to our destination. Since it was his first year he didn’t have as much knowledge to share regarding history or geology as our 4x4 guide did, but did provide a fun time on the river.

We loved the Schafer Trail and Potash Road petroglyphs- sure glad we weren’t doing the driving. The lunch was creative and delicious.
