Overview
Despite its UNESCO World Heritage–listed castle and cathedral, Durham doesn’t get much detail in the guidebooks. Learn facts about the city that you won’t easily find online and get recommendations for things to do in the center on this guided walking tour that spans everything from history to hauntings. See the university, bridges, the marketplace, and more, and capture postcard-perfect views of the cathedral.
- Go where cars can’t on a walking tour of historic Durham
- Learn about local figures who shaped the city’s—and the country’s—story
- Hear about prisons, hauntings, public hangings, and more from your guide
- Make the most of scheduled stops to snap photos and video

We really enjoyed this tour. My son will be attending Durham University in the fall, and we appreciated getting to hear more about the city.

This was an amazing tour. We learned so much about Durham. Many interesting stories. This tour has given me interest to come back and stay longer. We walked through the city up and down the stairs. Even our dog enjoyed the day.

Our tour guide was very informative and knew a lot about the area. Lots of interesting facts, stories that kept us entertained. He gave us some great recommendations of where to eat - Cellar Door amazing and a great traditional pub to try - the Victoria Inn which definitely was a traditional boozer. Loved the tour and would highly recommend.

Peter, our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour a lot of fun, he also customised the tour and added things of interest to us personally. Best way to explore Durham is start with Peter showing you around the sights!
