Step off the tourist trail and discover the little-known routes that most Meteora visitors don't get to see. On this half-day small-group trip, you’ll follow a guide on a leisurely hike from Doupiani rock to the lofty Grand Meteora Monastery. Along the way, pass Ypapanti and some of the smaller rock monasteries, and listen to fascinating commentary about the UNESCO-listed site's formation and history.

It was an excellent guide through the area which was a significant improvement on our own attempt to navigate the region. It was very manageable even in hot conditions and the walk was paced so that it was manageable for everyone. Chris the guide was a lovely guy who was very entertaining and was great with some of the kids on the walk. He was very knowledgeable about the history and environment of the region and answered several other questions we had regarding local transport things to do ect.

Chris the guide was a lovely guy who was very entertaining and was great with some of the kids on the walk. He was very knowledgeable about the history and environment of the region and answered several other questions we had regarding local transport things to do ect.

The experience was great. Chris was just very good in all aspect. Punctual, very knowledgeable in everything related to the region, the history, the geology... The hike was not difficult. However, the part after the visit of the monaster was a little bit more challenging. Nothing crazy though.

Great tour. Will not take you to most of the monasteries but will get you to cover a good deal of the area surrounding them. I found this combined with driving to some of the individual monasteries the day before a complete tour of Meteora. Kristos was a great and entertaining guide.

Our guide was very knowledge, friendly and considerate of all ability levels . This 60 yr old women would of not accomplish the 5 mile hike without him

This trip was on my bucket list and what better way to celebrate 60 years of life than hike the majestic Meteora!
It was an amazing trip and our tour guide Christos was FANTASTIC! A native to the region, he shared his wealth of knowledge and was very kind, caring and patient. Christos made sure everyone was having fun, stayed hydrated & safe during the hike taking extra breaks when needed. Christos was very encouraging and this hike exceeded our expectations! Christos was an amazing guide who told us all sorts of interesting historical events that took place in Meteora.
He was a pleasant person who was very calm and funny.
He showed and explained to us more stuff about tortoises and plants.

Beautiful hike that lets you see Meteora from different angles . If you want to avoid the crowds and tour buses this is the best way to experience Meteora. I would do this tour again and again! The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

We had our hiking reservation booked for jan 2024. The day before i asked the team about the time for the pickup and they confirmed quickly.
The day after, Christos came to our hotel in kalambaka just in time, we picked up another person and went close to the monasteries road.
During the whole morning christos shared information about meteora history, the monks, the monasteries and other interesting details.
He also told us about himself and we were talking about music and the hobbies we had in common, he was fantastic!
He made sure everyone was safe and i could feel he's a great professional.
This hiking day was the best part of out visit, we had a lot of fun walking in the nature close to the monasteries.
By the end of the morning Christos left us at the hotel again and recommended us a place for lunch (it was great!).
I would recommend it 100%. You will enjoy it :)

Chris was one of the best tour guides I've experienced hands down. Paced the hike well, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and Greek history, and in general fun to talk to. It was a pretty intensive hike (in a good way, thoroughly enjoyed the exercise) that gave us breathtaking views of the monasteries away from the crowds.

Amazing tour with a hilarious, knowledgeable tour guide. Dimitris I think his name was, probably misspelled. You get to see some of the best sights outside of the main monastery attractions. Which is super nice because you don't need a tour guide for the monasteries anyway. Highly recommend for those in good shape. Very easy hike for active individuals, can be pretty difficult for someone who hasn't hiked in years.

The monasteries are visually an awesome sight, but actually hiking through the hills to visit them was by far the best choice. Excellent guide and great walking on natural trails rather than sitting in a tour van.

This was a peaceful hike up through the woods to the monastery. Evan did a wonderful job explaining the history and the nature around us. There were breaks in the hike, so it was leisurely.

Loved the views, nature, all the stories Chris shared with us! My teenage daughter and I enjoyed every minute and every step of our tour. Some parts of the hike were intense for a mid-aged not in a great shape woman, but we stopped to rest and hear more stories or learn about plants and nature. Definitely worth the efforts! Highly recommend

We had a great experience on this tour. It was supposed to be a hiking tour but got switched to a bus tour because of bad weather. Had it not been for the rain, we wouldn’t of been able to see all the great monasteries we saw. I’d highly recommend a bus tour, specifically this one. Both the driver the tour guides were very knowledgeable and nice.

This was a Great experience!
The hike was doable for a 40something woman with knee injuries.
The Guide was AMAZING!!! So incredibly knowledgeable and very personable with everyone.
The views we had on the hike were astounding!!
