Please wait your tour guide at the exit of the ship/cruise terminal, do not start to walk in the port area. The tour departs from the pier shoreside. Once you disembark, whether there is a terminal building or not, your local tour guide will be waiting at the exit with a sign with your last name. The local tour guide will greet you and walk you to the transportation. This is important not to follow the green line on the floor. Please Note: It is important that you refrain from strolling about the harbor area and just go to the meeting location.

Wonderful French countryside visit

Nice tour of the countryside

We really enjoyed yourselves, however the number of participants should be limited to 7 passengers. With eight, one poor unlucky soul is required to sit in the middle between the driver and front passenger. If you are over 4 feet tall, you will have a big problem, as the Mercedes van has no legroom when sitting behind the center console. That issue aside, we had a great time and the tour guide was excellent. You visit several charming towns in the French countryside and have time to explore. The tour guide was knowledgeable and tour was a good value.

Should have been better than it was

This was our first time going "off tour" with our cruise ship, meaning not taking a tour with Princess. While we did return back on time, a big, huge plus, the tour itself fell short. First of all, it was difficult to identify our driver. Strike 1. Signage was POOR and took us too long to find our driver/tour guide in the port!!! Second, the vehicle was extremely small, 8 people plus the driver was extremely tight. Strike 2. Third, commentary was limited, it seemed more like a driver than tour guide, strike 3. Over all just so-so. It should of and could of been so much better. However, we will try Viator on another venue because usually they are great!

Love the drive, disappointing language barrier.

I especially enjoyed walking through the old village of Eze. A small group tour is definitely best. Although our tour guide was very knowledgeable, I was disappointed in the level of English. I was only able to make out a small amount. Disappointing when you pay for an English guide and can't understand.

Tour operator great...tour time needs work.

Tour operator was very sweet and informative. Was wonderful in making a very short 5 minute stop at the lavender fields on our way to one of the villages. Would not necessarily recommend this exact tour based on the time allotted at each location. Would have preferred to visit two of the villages and have time to walk around and spend at each. As it was, we had only 40 minutes at two of the locations and less than and hour and twenty minutes for our lunch location...definitely did not feel that we could have enjoyed lunch and walk around to see the village in the time allotted so we had to rush a quick meal to visit the town. Felt very rushed. The villages are beautiful, but if you really want time to enjoy them, book a private tour or ask ahead of time if you can visit only your top two to actually get to experience them. Tour operator was very punctual and needed us to leave at a specific time, telling us we needed to ensure the time frame to get back to our cruise on time. After 30 minutes driving, tour operator was called and asked to go back to pick up another group that had car trouble. She then assured us that we had the extra hour to go back and pick them up and still get back to the boat. We were happy to go back (we would have wanted someone to do the same for us) but after a day of feeling like we didn't get as much time as we would have liked, felt like the time frame was rushed unnecessarily. In total, spent approx. 5 hours in the van and only 3 hours actually at the villages.

Great tour of the Luberon

Travelling in a small group through the Luberon was quite special. We were not restricted by travelling in a large group with a guide and free to explore the lovely villages. We were on a cruise and returned to the ship in good time despite an unanticipated hold up

Beautiful village tour

My family took this tour and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery is magnificent. We had heard stories that the port of Marseilles was a boring cruise stop, so we almost just stayed on the ship. So glad we didn't. This tour is a little pricey, but you get to see several beautiful villages that are breathtaking. You also get a few photo stops at some amazing viewpoints. We toured a castle, walked through villages, saw the ochre mountains, had time for lunch in one of the villages, etc. The only negative for this trip was that our tour guides didn't give us as much information as we would have liked about the area. It was a pretty quiet drive, although they were very friendly and kind. It turned out to be one of our favorite stops on the cruise.

Poor Tour Experience

Tour guide was unprofessional, dressed inappropriately and provided little information on the best things to see in the villages. Second village was not worth seeing and we should have spent more time in Rousseau. Also, her vehicle broke down causing us to miss our last stop, and causing anxiety about getting back to the cruise ship on time.

Lea was an excellent guide. She was very knowledgeable, had great historical stories and legends to share, and was a pleasure to be with. She was also a great driver, and we always felt safe in the very nice, spacious, air-conditioned van. We loved visiting the Luberon villages. Each one was beautiful and unique in its own way.

Caririeres de Lumiere . Light show

Lea was such a great guide. It was a rainy morning and all tours arrived late due to bad traffic to the cruise port however Lea was worth the wait. Because it was raining, we told Lea we had tried to book a trip to Lumiere light show but couldn’t find one with Viator. She offered to get permission to change our tour and she took us there instead plus to a monastery that Van Gogh had stayed and it was a fantastic day. Lea was so accommodating and knew a lot about the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was a private tour since we were the only 3 people on this so that’s why we had this flexibility.

Excellent tour

We booked this excursion to see as much as we could in our 1-day in France. It was the right decision! Viator adjusted the times of the tour based on our cruise ship docking & departure times. Our tour guide, Philip, was excellent in giving insights into the area & each village while keeping us on schedule to see as much as we could & still get back to the ship on time. The vehicle was immaculate & had a car seat for our toddler. Philip was very accomodating to our wishes to see some lavendar fields & even stopped at a roadside vendor on the way back when we realized we had neglected to purchase some French wine. I really enjoyed having such a personal tour which allowed more freedom & less stress than going in the large group ship excursions. I would highly recommend Viator tours!

We booked the LuberonTypical Provencal Villages tour for our day in France. We selected this tour since it allowed us to visit some lovely villages in the area & was more personal than large excursions. Philip was our most excellent tour guide. Starting out he had parked the vehicle in the shade while he waited for us to get off the cruise ship. Having an air conditioned minivan with a car seat for our 3 year-old made the entire experience very pleasant & was a respite between each village. Philip is very knowledgable & pointed out so many things to us. He explained the history of the areas we were visiting & guided us through each village more as a friend than a tour guide. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We covered alot of ground without feeling rushed, but Philip made sure we got back to our ship by the time we had requested. He also accomodated our request to see some lavendar fields and stopped at a road-side vendor on the way back when we mentioned that we hadn't purchased any French wine yet. If you're considering this tour, do so with complete confidence that you will not regret the personal attention, the private, clean vehicle & extremely compentent tour gruide (especially if you're lucky enough to get Philip). I feel we left knowing more about the Provence area, understanding the people & what life is like there along with a new friend. Thanks, Philip, we enjoyed our day with you immensely!
