After reading so many 5 star reviews, I thought it’d be a great private tour experience. Boy was I wrong. Up until the start of the tour (8.30am), there were no communication or updates at all regarding the tour which I already sensed something was off as all tours even group guided tours always reach out via WhatsApp or messages to remind about the upcoming tours. Should have knew that was a red flag.
Then on the actual day, at 8.30am (tour starts at 8.30am and we selected Pick Up from our hotel) -I messaged the tour operator via Viator, messaged them on WhatsApp, called their number on their website and the number on their WhatsApp. I even asked the hotel concierge to call them using a local number - NOTHING. No response and the WhatsApp messages were not delivered to their number until that evening. It felt like a total scam - we even checked with the hotel concierge that evening, no tour guide showed up at our hotel, it’s like they totally ghosted us. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and shocked how this tour operator can continue to scam people on Viator and still receive 5 star reviews. Thankfully, Viator refunded us, please DO NOT BOOK this tour. I can’t speak for other people but for us, it was totally a scam.

We had a wonderful tour of Vieux Lyon and Fourviere with Romain. He was a perfect guide for our small group of six people—friendly and knowledgeable about the local history, architecture, food, and restaurants. Romain picked up our group at our Airbnb in Presqu’ile and we walked over to the Old City, exploring the fascinating architecture and traboules, took the funicular up to the basilica and Roman ruins, and then walked back down to the Old City. Throughout the tour Romain was happy to answer all of our questions and take us to the places that we wished to go. We had a great day with him as our guide. Highly recommended.

This tour was a great way to learn about the history of Lyon and see the major sights. Our guide Romain was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Lyon’s long and interesting history. After the tour we felt more acquainted with the lay out of the city making it easier to decided what we wanted to do with the rest of our time here.

Fantastic morning. Romain was great with the kids. Really saw the difference of personalized experience vs seeing some of the giant river cruise tours who were in town the same day. Was very flexible and took us to some great spots with solid recommendations for other places to see.

We highly recommend this tour with Romain. We took the tour the day we arrived in Lyon to get an overview of the city so that we can explore on our own the next few days. Romain was extremely knowledgeable about the city as well as historical events which shaped the city and its culture. He was also a very nice guy! If we didn’t take this tour, I don’t think we would appreciate the city as much as we do now. We are now armed with a whole list of things to do and restaurants to go to. Thank you Romain!

This was a wonderful tour. With a strong emphasis on the long history of Arles, our guide, Romain, walked us through the many Roman buildings and edifices spread throughout the city, which included the theater, colosseum, catacombs and baths. We were also provided in-depth commentary on Van Gogh's life in Arles, and visited the important places in his life's story. Although scheduled as a 3-hr tour, our guide extended it by an additional half hour to cover everything he thought we should see. I highly recommend this tour.

Romain was a fantastic guide. He really brought the Van Gogh experience to life for us. So special to see where he did his painting. Also enjoyed all the Roman ruins in Arles. Only complaint is that this is advertised as a Private Guided Tour. No where does it say it is a walking tour. But Romain very nicely accommodated us.

Thank you Isabella for a great tour. Our french was nonexistent, so we would not have known what we were looking at, since all the exhibits were only in French. We missed all the crowds by going in the off-season in late November and had each major attraction to ourselves, but had to deal with the cold. Spring or early Fall would be amazing to see and feel the energy of the crowds and enjoy the nicer weather, but having the places to ourselves was more our style. Enjoyed all of Isabella's insights, this was crucial to getting the most of our one day in Arles.

Alice was terrific. Our train was cancelled and she rearranged our pick up location to help us out. She took her time to explain everything, answered our questions very clearly and walked at a pace that suited us.
