This itinerary includes a two hour Mekong River cruise that is just fantastic. The caves are simply amazing, you’ll love them. Tour guide Mone did everything possible to make our trip enjoyable - really took our needs into consideration. The agenda was flawless. The timing was perfect. The driver was superb. WOW in many ways! Starting with our tour guide, Kong, he was excellent. He gave us the perfect amount of space to enjoy ourselves, yet he was also readily available for questions and explanations of the sites we visited. This excursion was definitely a major highlight of our visit to Laos. The lunch was also excellent! Be sure to bring a swim suit because you'll surely want to swim at the waterfalls. I recommend this tour, and I highly recommend you request Kong as your guide. (One side note: The last stop of the day is a walk through a small village where virtually everyone, including little kids, try to sell you something. We would have been happy to skip that stop.)

Fantastic Trip!

We had a fantastic trip with Mr Than which was great value for money. With a 2 hour boat ride in our own private boat down the Mekong river to the Pak Ou Caves and great lunch included overlooking the river. Fabulous opportunities to mix with the locals at both the whisky village and Hmong village as well as some of the most stunning waterfalls we have ever seen. Mr Than was very knowledgeable & we really enjoyed his company throughout the day. Would highly recommend.

This tour was so magical. We had a private long boat to ourselves and it exceeded my expectations. Seriously, Chansay was the best guide. Our dietary restrictions were fully adhered to. I loved visiting the villages. Our driver and guide were completely organized and on one accord. It was the best. Also, our tour guide took great photos!!!

A little bit of learning and a lot of fun

Bounsu was our guide for this full day trip and Somdy, our driver. They arrived at our hotel in Luang Prabang in the morning and we started our adventure by boat going down the Mekong River after a short walk from our hotel. Traveling down the river we stopped at a few rural villages to get an appreciation of daily life in the more provincial areas, seeing and sampling the local whiskey making (similar to the US moonshine), local weaving of fabrics and garments as well as the making of seaweed sheets flavored with garlic, tomato and sesame seed (even getting instruction from a local in its preparation). We all boated to the Pak Ou Cave to see the thousands of Buddha statues housed inside. Truly a marvel. The boat ride ended with a lunch at a local river side restaurant where we sampled some traditional Lao cuisine and the local beer. Then into the car where Somdy got us safely to the Kuang Si Waterfalls where we saw the various levels and even got to take a swim, enjoying the relief from the heat. After which we were taken Back to our hotel where we were able to shower off have a beer and head out for a nearby dinner and stroll thru the night market. A perfect day of exploring. Highly recommend both Bounsu and Somdy, as well as this tour.

Pak Ou Cave and Kuang Si waterfall might be the most popular sightseeing points in Ruang Prabang. The tour planned to visit both of them and other local villages are plus. People are kind but the road condition was pretty bad. Tour guide, forgot his name, likely Bun Su, was very helpful, his knowledge of Laos and Luang Prabang make my tour more interesting.

Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the tour, especially the boat trip. The car was new and spacious, it’s very important, because the roads are dusty. Can not imagine going to waterfalls on Tuk Tuk.. The food was delicious ( a la carte)

We had such great day on this tour. Our guide Chan was awesome. A lot of fun and very informative. The cruise up the Mekong was so nice, with a slight breeze so we were not too hot. The caves were very interesting and and we ate lunch across the river looking a the mountain from the distance. We then headed to the waterfalls which were incredible! One of the most beautiful sites to see and the dip in the fresh water was a welcomed opportunity to cool off! Thanks for an amazing day! Also thanks for the dinner recommendation at Tamarind! Was great!

Overall a good tour. The sights were absolutely amazing! There are several other stops not mentioned in the description that were interesting too. We got to see the whiskey village, native arts and craft. The tour guide was great too. Only downfall was him taking unexpected pictures of us and sharing with a friend who his who ended sending the pictures back to us as he was our guide from a previous day. That felt a bit odd.
