The friendly, professional guide met us at preset location at the center of the city. After a brief introduction, he spent the next hour showing us sites of interest within a few blocks walk…the beautiful Catholic Church, the military museum (now musical academy), and local buildings, and streets of note. All the time, he was a wealth of knowledge, answered all of our questions, was interested in our own backstories, and gave us a detailed history of the city of Liberia. After this, came one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Costa Rica, as the guide took us for a short drive to his farm, where we had cups of fresh brewed CR coffee, freshly picked bananas, and a tour of his property, with stories of his family (wife/daughter), history, and how much he loved being a guide and educating tourists about the country of his birth. Very dedicated to sustainability, our guide also led us out into his farmland where all four of our party planted small mahogany trees. He does this with all his guests who visit. He drove us back to the center of the city, after the three or so hours. Our appreciation for, and understanding of, Costa Rica and its people had grown immensely, and this tour left us with memories that will last a lifetime.
We certainly recommend this tour. Well worth the cost, and the dividends are priceless!

The walking tour was relatively short and to the point which is fine by me . We met at Liberia center ( a park ) and was able to take photos by the Liberia sign . We walked about 2 black and learned about architecture and how Liberia contributed to migration . We walked through the church st the center then across the street to the museum which used to be a prison . Inside the facility there were a artifacts and exhibits but across the courtyard in the prison there was a music school which I enjoyed watching the musicians rehearse . We went to the lower level and saw the housing for the former prisoners . That ended the walking tour portion . This is light and easy for those who can’t or don’t want to do much walking but want to get off resort . We then headed to the farm to plant our tree. This was my favorite part . I thought we’d just plant a tree but we were greeted by Dixon and his wife joined us . We were taken to a beautiful 120+ acre family farm . We were served coffee upon arrival and I’ll just say that we learned so much about various herbs and vegetables . I ultimately came and did plant a Cortez Negro sapling but we also had the pleasure in harvesting limes off of a lime tree as well as turmeric and cassava . We were then taken to the outdoor kitchen and enjoyed freshly harvested banana and pineapple from the farm . Great experience especially for those who enjoy getting their hands in soil . I highly recommended this tour . Best part is that they invited us back to visit our tree and we definitely plan to !

We had done a lot of adventurous things on our trip, but we wanted to connect more with some locals, find out about a little history and have some of our questions answered. Our Guide was wonderful! My husband and I really enjoyed visiting his farm, having coffee and meeting his father-in-law. Did you know there are only two types of cattle that can withstand the heat and humidity of Costa Rica? We are glad we went on this tour and helped with his reforestation vision by planting a tree. He has a wonderful vision ❤️. I hope we can come back in a few years and see how his vision has grown. Driver was on time, knowledgeable, but unfortunately, the farm was a vast empty land. I felt like I did not explore the culture enough

Hello Mrs Dulie
I hope you and your friends are doing great!
Thank you for the 4 points review
Our land is 125 acres and we only farm cattle in 20 of those. The remaining 85% of our land is protected forest where we farm oxygen and where we did the tree planting with most of your friends. Which you didn't join since you preferred to sit and wait by the stable for them to come back. So no, our farm is not an empty land but a sanctuary where many people converge to do something against the climate change.
You walked around to towns and drove by many others. You also met 3 generations of a family and asked many question that got an answer so i believe you got plenty of exposure to our culture.
Thank you for the prayers you did at our farm.
God bless you

Tour of Liberia was very informative and interesting. Farm visit was ok. Coffee at the farm was delicious.
The tour was to be 6 hours and it was done in 2.hours. Very disappointing.

Hello Kelly
I hope you're doing well.
When booking this tour you have 2 option:
The first one offers hotel pick up and depending on hotel location tour can last from 4 to 6 hours total.
The second option is to meet at the starting point of the city tour in Liberia at 8:30 am which is what you chose to do.
In the "what to expect" part, it specifies that it takes 2 hours for the city tour and 1,5 hours at the farm.
I remember we provided complimentary transportation to your hotel since it wasn't far from the farm and we dropped you there around 12pm. That's 3,5 hours and that's what we're commited to last. I also remember that day was extremely hot and it was hard for you to stand outside.
We're happy you liked the coffee my wife made for you.
Pura Vida.
