Chef treated us like old fiends and was in no hurry to let it end. Charming, professional and super friendly. We would definitely go back if ever in the area for a a class to learn something else.

Absolutely amazing experience. This is the only review I've written for our two week trip. We did 6 other activities through viator, but I had to leave a review for this one. The lunchtime in Menaggio was absolutely perfect. Making the pasta was fun. We made two different "doughs" and then made a few different types of pasta. Paolo was amazing. He was informative, kind, passionate, and funny. The food tasted amazing as well. We of course ate the pasta we made, but the sauces were also very good! Paulo also came and sat with us towards the end of the lunch and he just talked with us for an hour answering questions and telling stories. This experience was a true Italian experience for us that was relaxing and enjoyable. Honestly, I didn't do this only to learn how to make pasta because I can YouTube that. I did this for the experience, and it was absolutely perfect. This was exactly what we needed and hoped it would be. Just like pictures don't ever do an amazing view justice, words can't do this experience justice, but I tried my best. Thank you Paolo!!

This was the most expensive cooking class I have ever experienced, and a total rip off! After they changed our location 3 times, we finally made it to the class. Lake Como is very expensive to get around, and the tour operators should know this. Where we ended up was someone’s kitchen, and our chef wasn’t familiar with it at all. He had already made the sauces, ( Why couldn’t we make them), so it was just a pasta class. There were 9 of us, and he only brought 2 bottles of wine! So much for the wine flowing while you are cooking. We are in Italy for heavens sakes! We made 2 pastas out of the same dough. Not even 2 different recipes. Not enough cutters to go around, only 2 for 9 people. He then had us sit in the dining room while he mixed the sauces with the pasts. One sauce had a few vegetables in it but the other could have been Ragu! All in all we used 2 small bags of flour and 9 eggs! So two bottles of wine, 2 small bags of flour, and 9 eggs! All for a whopping 300 euros per couple. I know eggs have gone up but come on man! The chef and tour company made well over 2000 dollars for this joke of a cooking class in Italy. The only high light was Chef Andrea was very personable. Don’t waste your time or money.

Dear Stacy,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — we’re sorry to hear the experience didn’t meet your expectations.
We would like to clarify a few important points. The location of the class was changed only once, not three times, and this was communicated clearly via message more than a week in advance. In that message, we also gave guests the option to cancel at no charge if the new location was inconvenient. Detailed directions were provided for reaching the venue using public transport, with a ticket cost of €3.20 per person — which we understand you used successfully.
Regarding the contents of the class: everything that was provided — from the hands-on pasta-making, the number of recipes, the wine, and the format of the experience — aligns exactly with what is described in the class listing. We strive to be fully transparent about what is included.
As for the cost, our pricing reflects the standards of the local market and ensures that everyone involved in delivering the experience — including talented professionals like Chef Andrea — is compensated fairly and can work under good conditions. We believe this is fundamental to offering an experience that is not only enjoyable but sustainable and respectful toward those who provide it.
We’re glad you appreciated Chef Andrea’s personality — he’ll be pleased to read your kind words.
Finally, we always encourage future guests to read through our many other reviews. They may offer a more complete and balanced picture of the quality of service we work hard to provide every day.

A wonderful class with Palo. He did an excellent job teaching us about the different kinds of pasta and was very helpful as we made it.
The lunch in the garden after the class was a perfect setting.

Andreas was an excellent instructor! Very friendly and the Pasta was delicious. We would absolutely come again for another class.

Paolo gave my wife and I a fantastic experience in Lake Como. The location was beautiful with an authentic Italian feel. We made two varieties of pasta then he served a meal with wine in the garden with a view. It was our first day in Lake Como, and Paolo was able to give us advice on how to spend the remainder of our time. 10/10 would recommend

Paolo was an incredible host! He is incredibly warm, friendly and fun. Not to mention extremely knowledgeable. The class is informative and interactive. Views were amazing. The food and wine is of course outstanding, some of the best we had in Italy—and we dined in Michelin restaurants during our trip. He even drove us back to our hotel rather than having us call a taxi for a short distance. Felt like we were at home with family! Would highly recommend, wish we could do it again

We had such an amazing time learning to make pasta with our chef Andrea. It ended up just being just the three of us and he was so helpful, fun and we had a wonderful time learning more about his life in Italy. When he realized I couldn't have dairy he instantly came up with a solution. And we learned how different pasta pair with different sauces and we already bought semolina flour so we can make chocolate pasta at home. Never would have thought it would pair with a tomato sauce!!

An amazing experience- our favorite in Menaggio! Our chef was an incredible teacher and interesting person to learn all about Italy from. The class was fun and we made new friends and stayed 1.5hrs after our stay because we were just having such a great time! 100% would do again and recommend booking NOW
Sue_P, Sep 2024
First of all, we loved our chef so this review is not about him. From the start communication was lacking as it took days for someone to respond to a message. Directions on where to meet were not clear at all. We plugged in the address provided and it wasn’t the right place. It was literally next door but that was not indicated anywhere. We did two different pastas, nothing difficult and fairly close to the same. This was not worth the $687 we paid for 4 people.
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Ciao Sue,
we are sorry that you ended up next door, let's add that at the meeting time our Chef showed up and let you in the right location. About the messages, you know that's not true (because Viator traces all the messages, you can check the timing of our replies).
We didn't advertise anything difficult, these are not classes to improve your cooking skills, if you are already an expert, it is a way to learn how our families have taught us to prepare and enjoy food together. We are lucky because most of our guests appreciated our way.
We will do our best to improve our services.
Thanks for your review

This experience was terrible. The cooking class was falsely advertised, nothing promised in the booking was realized. I was with my girlfriend and we were apart of a group of ten people in this class. The entire group left before eating due to the disorganization, unsanitary facilities and unfulfilled promises made by Viator. Viator made no attempt to rectify the situation when contacted during the experience or after the entire group requested a refund. They should be ashamed of themselves for not doing more to assist their patrons. Highly recommend using a different booking company that cares about their customers.
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Buongiorno,
We have already brought to light what happened during this class (if you are interested, just read our reply to the review below). We spent a lot of time explaining in detail what our cooking classes are about, where they are located, and what you will do during the classes, you need to take some time and read all the descriptions and the indications, this will let you understand exactly what to expect. Please don't stop just at the pictures.
We are sorry if this situation has ruined your vacation. Grazie Daniele Slow Lake Como

The class was nothing like the photos. We arrived to see a dirty back alley catering facility with a kitchen. We were given warm water to start making our pasta. We didn’t have a view or a lovely lunch set up outside. There weren’t enough seats at the table for eating. We were a group of ten and had to share rolling pins, dull kitchen knives and dirty cutting boards. My friends and I didn’t stay long and the other people in the class left as well. DO NOT BOOK THIS CLASS! What a rip off!
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Dear Gina,
It is frustrating even for a company like ours, to read comments like this. Addressing false (and grave) accusations, to justify the fact that you simply checked the wrong pictures (most probably the ones posted by other guests). It is clearly written that we have two locations, where we run our cooking classes. We are a legit company and we work only in professional kitchens. The back dirty alley that you mentioned, is, in any case, the garden where you were invited to pick up fresh tomatoes to prepare the sauce? You were part of a group of ten, our chef set up a table in another room to let everybody eat more comfortably. Anyway, if what you found was not what you were expecting you should leave immediately, you don't attend a class for almost two hours and then all of a sudden, leave making a scene about the pictures... We found this behavior rude and disrespectful to the people that are working, you were even able to fuel up the other couple that was enjoying the class so far.
A word for the wise. Check also the other reviews and make your own idea.
Dear Gina, I hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation on our beautiful Lake. Take care.

We had a great time learning to make two different pastas with three different sauces. Our chef, Andrea, was a fantastic teacher and had so many wonderful stories to share.

Paulo was amazing!! Very personal and great with our children. Our pasta was the best meal we had during our entire trip. I highly recommend doing this class while in Como!
Sarah_C, Jul 2024
Our family had a fantastic time! Andreaz was wonderful as he led us through making pasta from scratch using his grandma’s recipe. He had sauces ready to go for us to have with our freshly cooked pasta & they were all delicious! Great Italian cooking experience with a gorgeous view!
Becca_S, Jul 2024
Chef Paolo was FANTASTIC! The pasta was delicious and got to enjoy it with free flowing wine and gorgeous views.

Pablo was an excellent host and we had such a great morning learning to make pasta and a leisurely lunch to enjoy it! Highly recommend this experience, the wine was devine (an added bonus that Pablo is also a sommelier!) and the setting is gorgeous.
Blair_B, Oct 2023
This was such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Arianna was so patient and kind and taught us so much. We had a five year old with us who was enthralled with everything she was learning. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone of any age.
Abby_B, Sep 2023
This was such a fun addition to our trip. We learned how to make pasta and then we able to try them. We were a little late to the class because of some confusion on location, however our instructor was so kind and waited for us. The food was delicious, the view was amazing, and I would highly recommend.
Ann_M, Aug 2023
The host/chef was terrific! He offered us history, culture and his passion for cooking as we made our 2 different pastas with him. He turned it into the best lunch out in his garden with a glass of wine. We were very happy to have Paulo join us for desert as we got to chat some more. We are excited to go back to the states and make our own pasta!
Shannon_E, Aug 2023
Such a wonderful experience! We were unfortunately late due to traffic and the chef was so kind! He was so knowledgeable and the food as DELICIOUS😍 thank you so much for this great afternoon!
Carla_A, Jul 2023
If you only do one activity in all of Italy, do this one! Such a wonderful experience from start to finish and I can’t say enough good things about our gracious host and teacher! He shared his love of cooking, wine and stories of his wonderful hotel Loveno (which was the most beautiful location for this class). When I come back, I will try his wine tasting class! This is sure to be a top travel memory for you!
Victoria_W, Jul 2023
Wonderful pasta making class in Lake Como! Marianna was an expert in not only demonstrating how to make specific pasta, but was excellent when it came to also assisting us in making the pasta. Best part was eating the final creation at the end. Would recommend this class to everyone!
Brian_N, Jul 2023
We met Paolo at his hotel. There were a total of 5 people in the group. We were welcomed with cold water and Prosecco. After a short greeting, we got down to it and made two kinds of pasta ( Egg and water). It was a great experience in a wonderful setting. After the class, we sat down outside in a lovely garden to eat what we cooked. There was red and white wine, focaccia. There were two pasta dishes, one with pesto and one with bolognese. It was truly a wonderful and unforgettable time. Paolo and his family were very accommodating and friendly.

Palo was amazing! He genuinely cared about teaching us and making our experience wonderful. Highly recommend the views, food, and experience!

Not sure how I forgot to provide a review of this absolutely fantastic experience. We arrived at we're met by the staff who are the sweetest hosts with great sense of humors. We took a taxi from Como, if you take the ferry you have arduous walk ahead of you but you'll make it. The entire party was American couples, some of you may roll your eyes at that, but it was great. Everyone there was nice, funny, motivated and ready to have fun. You make wo types of pasta and it's great. Once complete you have cocktails and wine in the garden, then your efforts are presented to you. After you smash the pasta its time for espresso and dessert. Overall a beautiful experience. 😍

Definitely a highlight of our trip. I took the class twice with different groups and both classes were fantastic! Paulo, our instructor was awesome, a great teacher plus very charming. After we made two types of pasta, we enjoyed our lunch outdoors in a beautiful setting. Everyone in both of my groups enjoyed the class - great value for a delightful afternoon!
