Your first stop in Ubud is the ever-popular Ubud Monkey Forest, an Indiana Jones landscape that’s home to bands of roving macaques. Your driver/guide will show you how to interact with them safely.
Next, head to the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, one of Ubud’s most beautiful rice-field landscapes. Just a little further north, fill up your camera roll with a quintessential Ubud experience, a jungle swing, then have lunch overlooking the forest.
After lunch, go deeper into Balinese culture when your driver/guide introduces the sacred springs of Tirta Empul Temple. Your final stop before your driver drops you back is the spectacular Tegenungan Waterfall, a roaring 50-foot (15-meter) cascade set amid lush forest.

I was wise to request Gede as my driver for my introduction to Bali. We communicated over WhatsApp prior to my arrival as I wanted to ask questions about the itinerary. I had read that most places get really busy during mid day and wanted to avoid heavy crowds so we planned out an itinerary that worked for me. It was decided to begin our journey at 6am. We had 1 1/2 hour drive to Tirta Empul Temple. During the ride Gede gave me a complete history of Bali and the culture which was most enlightening. Upon arriving at the temple, I was literally one of first to there and was first to go through the cleaning rituals with no one else around. Gede explained very step of way the reasons for everything I did. By time we finished the temple tour there was a line backup with every fountain occupied. We then went to Tegenungan Waterfall and soaked in the serenity. Following was a tour of Tegalalang Rice Terrace which was beautiful but 30 minutes was enough for me- some people were trekking all the way around the terraces which had to take over an hour. We had to much more to do. Gede then took me to a quiet delicious 4 course lunch (included) over looking the jungle. Next up-Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Even though it was crowded, Gede knew which paths to take to avoid large groups and also knew where each group of monkeys had their favorite spots. His knowledge of the monkeys helped one or two of them to sit on my shoulders including one pic where it looks like the monkey is taking a selfie of us. Oh did I mention, Gede is also a great photographer? He documented my whole day with over 100 pics. The day wasn't done yet. We toured a traditional Balinese House to understand the everyday life of the locals. On our way back, stops were made at handicraft market and super market. Arriving back to my hotel at 3:00. It was the Best Way to begin my 2 week stay in Bali. Thanks again Gede look forward to our next adventure.

Ubud Tour with Guna

Wayan Widarta is the most amazing tour operator we have ever been with. Luckily we will see him Tuesday for yet another tour. He took us all over Bali and will be another tour with our favorite tour operator - East Bali tour we would not want any other tour operator except our favorite. High quality experience, well organised with great communication, service and flexibility. Our guide Yogi was outstanding, very knowledgeable, great English language, positive and very customer focussed. It was a long trip around 12 hours in total as we added in some stops and took our time.. as well as the expected traffic. The lunch stop was in a lovely location and the food was good. We would highly recommend this trip.

We had a great time with our tour guide Yosi. Yosi was insightful and made us laugh, and took some wonderful pictures. The actual tour is very natural and you can do what you want at your own pace. Our favourite stop was the Tirta Empul Temple but it’s hard to choose amongst a wonderful line up. Do try to wear proper footwear but I brought thongs to change into later. It’s best to do the earlier start as well to try to avoid traffic.
