Taman negar hike & village visit - 5/10

Immacolata_D, Feb 2026
It was a lovely day and everything went well. The hike is nice but can be tough if you’re not sportsy/fit: there is an endless number of steps. The surroundings were great and not particularly busy (but our guides mentioned that weekends are chaotic, so would be recommended to do this on a weekday) Also be aware that the bridge has been closed for over 1 year (according to the guide), so that falsely advertised as part of the tour, but you can’t actually walk it. Lunch was basic but fine; we had 2 hours break which seemed a bit long and unnecessary. There wasn’t much to do other than sit at the restaurant and wait. We were served quickly, so within 40/45 mins we were done. The visit to the village is also nice, although by that time we were all tired and the guide struggled a bit with the explanation in English, which made the entire process much longer than necessary. What I found absolutely unnecessary and not exactly pleasant is the “rapid shooting” that is done at the end of the day, where the boat is basically rocked through the current to get everyone wet. We were soaked by the time we went back to the dock and it’s not ideal when you will be sitting for 3/4 hours in a air-conditioned coach (you are advised to bring a change of clothes and you can use the toilets - upon payment - near the parking; however, if you have long hair, you might be sitting the whole return journey with wet hair). What I found most disconcerting is the cost of this tour. The first reason for it, it’s because I don’t think the day overall it’s worth ~ 500MYR (over £/$100); second, the cost of the 3 activities at the counter is advertised as 50/55 MYR each, totalling 155MYR. Surely they are not charging 350MYR for the drive and the additional lunch? Overall, I wouldn’t do it again.

It was a expedition...

Loris_G, Sep 2025
It was a expedition through the jungle as advertised, though I did expect to go off the beaten path. Everything was quite touristic it felt like and wasnt like a crazy expedition. Any thrill seekers or nature friends probably wont be satisfied, but for families or just curious people is more than sufficent

Great day in the jungle

Eric_N, Aug 2025
6km jungle hike with mostly board walk and stirs but probably 250m elevation gain on those stairs. Canapy walk was closed due to a tree fall. We saw a python. We used a blowgun. Bring a full change of clothes or swimwear - you get soaked with river water.

This was an AMAZING...

Petra_T, Jun 2025
This was an AMAZING experience! We firstly had a walk in the jungle, where our tour guides showed us the native plants and trees and we even saw some monkeys! The view at the end was very rewarding. Then, we went to a native village we're we learned how to blow through a bamboo stick. The included dinner was by the river side which is a big plus and the restaurant owner was very kind to make me a vegetarian dish. The final boat ride was soon much fun and we goat soaking wet!! Overall, I definitely recommend this experience.

Full Taman Negara experience

Anthi_V, Jun 2025
It was really good. It has everything this place has to offer, from the jungle until the people. You see the jungle in a trekking with local guides, you eat local food and then you visit the local aborigines, learn about their village and their techniques and at last you take a boat ride, in which you get really wet! So a change of clothes is needed. Also the road there is a bit bumpy, but in the end you might get used to it.

So many stairs

Marta_R, May 2025
The place is a park so in the floor they made a path with stairs up to the top of the mountain, we didn’t see any animal and it was all stairs, guide don’t help you at all! I asked him if he could go slowly and he said yes but he didn’t, he doesn’t give you a hand when you can fall, he only walks and you have to follow him, if you cant go up anymore you have to stay alone there waiting until they come back, he doesn’t help at all to give you a hand, I made more tours and guides always offer their hand in the difficult areas to protect us of falling but he didn’t even if I asked him a few times, please this excursion is not for kids, unless you want to carry them all the stairs up with 90% of humedity and extremely hot… The food is the worse that I saw in my life… a plate with rice, one fried egg and a soup to share with the others of thr group that I am not sure if it was fish or chicken, super weird, foe the price we pay what a minimum of putting a decent plate for every of us… that is very cheap there… The driver drives very fast but he drives well If you can go by yourself to the park and go as fast as you want and eat there but noodles or something like that I think it would be better…

Great variety and fun

sharminfnahar, Jul 2024
The day was amazing. The walk up through the jungle was great, informative but also beautiful. The canopy walk was lovely too. We finished off with the boat ride, we did get absolutely soaked but it was lots of fun. I'd really recommend this tour. Just bring extra clothes

Professional staff but excursion very pricy

AlvaroG_P, Jul 2024
The staff was very professional, but the excursion is very pricy for what it was. Rama, our driver, drove a bit fast, but very safety. Mushroom, our guide, was very passionate and explained us a lot of stuff very well. You just go a little bit inside the Taman Negara jungle, if you want to feel it more, you should choose another excursion and, may be, stay inside the jungle few days. If the excursion would be around $50, it would be perfect, but $120 is too expensive for what it was.

We are glad to take the long day (15 hrs) and to get to know the rainforest. Those who want nature should go

Doris_F, Apr 2026
You get a first impression of the rainforest. Our guide always explained interesting things about the rainforest on the way. The subsequent lunch tasted really good and the freshly squeezed pineapple juice was very delicious. Some reviews I don't think are appropriate. The ride there is really uncomfortable in a small minivan, but should not stop.

It's hard to get around.

Oki_N, Feb 2026
The atmosphere in the village was good. The trek was a great walk. It's a shame we didn't get to see many wild animals. If you're after animals, you might want to stay and join a night safari. It's hard to take time to get around.

Nice but insufficient for the price it costs

Guillermo_P, Sep 2025
You see the jungle as such, you hardly see typical animals of the area, not to mention hardly any (we only get to see monkeys and a "lizard"). The road has many stairs to climb. Our guide "Copy" very friendly and took your time to explain points of interest. It's an activity that we found too expensive for what we had. The food was fine.

Expendable, just to say you've gone

Albert_L, Aug 2025
Very superficial experience, and for the price it has not worth it. Very short way, they don't tell you much. And the suspension bridges are broken because a tree fell and just because you don't do them, it's not replaced by another activity. Then visit a town that is a tourist and the rapids with the boat the only fun but it could be in Malaysia or Benidorm

In line

Alessia_Z, Aug 2025
Departure from kuala lumpur, Trekking in the forest (many steps), nice but we thought there were more animals. Then lunch, Buono, and then we went to the village where they showed us the peculiarities of their lives Finally we went back by boat and there you wash totally, initially it is fun, a lot, later it becomes maybe slightly heavy. We had a very good and nice guide, makes you smell typical smells like the rock of batu caves, lemongrass anise. The return lasted forever with traffic, it took us 5 hours so if you have to take other means of transport I recommend staying wide with the times. In itself the experience was very nice, I would do it again, maybe compared to all the other experiences this is the one a bit more "expensive"

I was expecting some more

Carles_B, Jul 2025
The trecking part is hard and there is little to see. The boat trips and the visit to the village was fine instead. The guide and bus very well too.

Leuke ervaring

Nitasha_K, Jul 2024
Al met al een mooie ervaring. De gids van de Taman Negara heeft het erg leuk gedaan. Prijs wat aan de hoge kant via organisatie. Activiteiten zelf ter plekke is vele malen goedkoper.

Bellissima esperienza

Antonio_G, May 2024
Esperienza molto interessante.
