Kuala Lumpur on an Orange Bike

A really quick and easy way to see the sights of Kuala Lumpur and get some exercise at the same time. You see so much more than if you try to do this in a bus. I was a solo travel but was joined by a group of 4. Charles and the team made us all feel very welcome upon arrival. Charles is a really great guide providing lots of details above each sight with clarity and humour. He also ensured that we remained safe even on the busiest of roads. His whistle and hand signals ensured car, trucks and buses all stopped to let us cycle by. Make sure you bring suntan lotion and insect repellant as the first part of the tour it was still very hot and sunny but it cooled down for the last two hours. Highlights: The food at Hameediyah, fruit tasting on the market, getting pictures of the Twin Towers at night and the Masjid Jamek Mosque. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and evening.

A great way to see the city

This was such a great way to see another side of the city, away from the mall culture. Ping our guide was knowledgeable and fun and took great care of us. Although most of the cycling was on quiet backstreets we did spend some time in busy traffic, but this never felt frightening. We enjoyed seeing older and more authentic parts of the city and learning some of the background history. Highly recommended. Thanks!

If you want a whistle stop tour to learn a bit more about Kuala Lumpur

So, I had to reschedule this a couple of times due to a lack of numbers but the lovely people at MikesBikes were very reasonable, and communicated the changes well. It's not a short cycle (although if you are an experienced cyclist, which I wouldn't say I am, you might have to adjust to running a very low cadence), but it is a good circuit around the city to give you a lay of the land, whilst also showing you something you won't see in the inner city; a slice of the more traditional side of old KL in Kampung Bahru (the new village), one of the last remaining undeveloped areas in KL, preserving a culture and a way of life from a different era. Charles was a really good guide, and made an effort to ensure he covered a wide breadth of information so that there was something of interest for anyone joining (personally, I got a lot out of the food, fruit, and spices aspect, but that is just me, and will be plenty for anyone to take in). Cycling in KL traffic can be challenging, but Charles and Luke (our marshall) were great at keeping an eye out for those on the tour. With regards to dinner... Don't eat too much before the tour, as dinner is not a small snack 😅 The company also has a sustainable model, bringing over the famous Dutch orange bikes and servicing them to give them a new lease on life as tour bikes in KL, which probably isn't that clear reading the description on here. If you are a bit short on time during your stay in KL, this is a lovely option to cover a lot of ground quickly.

I did the morning tour and loved it so I booked the evening one and it did not disappoint. It was just as much fun , the food was fantastic and Johan and David were exceptional. They provided a nice pace , enough stops to catch a breath and bathroom breaks and their knowledge of the history of Malaysia significant attractions were vast. It was a fun and enjoyable tour that was culturally inspiring. I highly recommend this tour.

Good mix between seeing tourist sites and where the locals live and hang out. Doing it in the evening helped not make it too hot, but it is still warm so be sure to wear lightweight clothing. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our night tour around the city with Andrew. He took great care of us, was a mine of information and we felt confident cycling around the city. In fact I felt that the city came alive at night as the lights showed off some of the most interesting buildings such as the Petronas Towers. He also took us to see a traditional Kampung in the middle of the city that we definitely would have missed on our own. Top marks as well for the restaurant where we had dinner.

All local tourist guides, including Andrew, are knowledgable and friendly. They know exactly where to cycle in a safe and relaxed way. During the stops they provide interesting information about the capital and country. In a 4 hours tour there will be a local meal served. All restaurants are selected on quality food, ambiance and hygiene. Guests love the well visible Dutch bicycles. They are solid and reliable in all circumstances.
