Overview

Trek to Annapurna Base Camp, one of Nepal’s classic short routes in the brilliant Annapurna Range of the Himalaya. This is a small group organized adventure, starting from Kathmandu and ending in Pokhara. You will travel to Pokhara on the first day, then spend the next five gazing at high snowy peaks while you make your way through rhododendron, bamboo and oak forests on the way to Base Camp.

Bad experience trek

Totally disappointed with the whole trip experience: 1. Before the trip, it’s clearly stated that the team would provide enough tablet to purify tapped water, however the tour guide forgot to bring and not willing to buy/correct his mistake. Instead, asking us to buy purified water from tea houses. Only when we mention multiple times, he borrows from others and give us some. 2. While the whole trip is only 5 days, if you’re gonna hire a porter, it would be counted as 7 days x 24$. 3. Meal expense does not make sense with the tour cost. Most trekkers we met on the way to ABC has their tour operator provides at least 1 dish and 1 drink per meal. While for this tour, any ordered drink would be treated as additional costs. 4. Privacy violation: The tour guide keeps asking us to choose his accomodation, checking our plan beside the scope of the trek, go to our hotel throughout days before and after the trek without asking if we’re okay or not. P/s: While this trip is short (5 days) and does not have standard duration for ABC (7 days), the tour cost is already high + additional charges, it’s not very worth it.

Unprofessional tour guide. He did not know about the trek plan before taking us on the trip! After that he completely forgot water tablets and intended to make us pay water for ourselves. Later on he manage to find them but only after we pointed out it was his duty as stated in the plan. These things made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe throughout the trip, not knowing whether he could manage to guide us like he promised. Not only that, he kept invading our privacy during meals and hotel stay when we were back in Pokhara. On the other hand, the tour has some sketchy practices with only last minutes information on possibility of flights between Pokhara and Kathmandu, and porter's amount of day in service. They suggest to charge us 7 days for the porter when he did not carry our belongings on the first and last day. The reason they gave us was the porter's cost of traveling from and to Kathmandu, and accomodation for the day before and after the trek. We were offered by the tour operator only 5 days but decided to pay him 6 days out of consideration for the porter's meals and living places. However, the porter did not travel with us from Kathmandu, so we did not know if his traveling was actually true or he was already in Pokhara. More than that, on the last day, we received information from the tour guide that the porter had to stay back in Pokhara to go with other clients. If we agreed with 7 days payment, they could have received double the amount porter's expense from two different clients. Overall, be careful when you book trekking tour from this operator!
