This is hands down the best cooking class I've ever had. Jane is a food historian. While learning about preparations of local foods she is teaching you about the rich history behind the origins of certain ingredients being used. She is fun, lively, and committed to supporting the locals in her village through scholarships and employment. The food we prepared was delicious and eating together under the shade of a beautiful tree on her beautiful property was a treat. this is a must do when in Hualtulco. She also has a restaurant closer to town.

The cooking class was amazing. Jane provided a detailed history and influences on the food of the area. We made salsas, tortillas with a variety of toppings. The location was about 20 minute ride from Huatalco resorts in a beautiful oasis in the hills. Refreshments beer, wine, juices , cocktails were provided to enjoy with our midmorning snack and lunch where we enjoyed our efforts. Jane’s assistants were wonderful & certainly saved our tortillas from being squished out of the press!

It is very warm in the teaching kitchen so dress appropriately.

Very nice class. The driver was on time and easy to find. Cooking class was enjoyable. We learned about the history of the area. It was a very hot day so the heat was a factor for us.

Highly recommend Chocolate and Chiles street food cooking class. It’s a bit of a drive from La Crucecita but worth it. We loved the education/history lesson and creating amazing salsas, fillings, and a margarita! The location is beautiful.
Love the cookbook that has the recipes in it so you can make at home.

My Wife and I took this class cooking class in Huatulco. We took the Friday class - making tortillas, sopes, and salsa. Loved the introduction by Jane the instructor. Learned about the culture and the surrounding area. Only 5 in the class which made it more personal.
Also made Jamica margaritas which I made some when I got home. They are amazing and refreshing.
Jane also emailed us the recipes of everything we made that day.
A taxi will pick you up at your hotel and bring you back after the 3 1/2 hour class.
Highly recommend this experience.

This was so much fun! It was the highlight of our time in Huatulco. Not only did we prepare an amazing and delicious meal, but we learned about history and culture of the region. Loved that this class was hands-on! Jane instructor is fantastic!!! She explained the recipes and what we were to do in a easy-to-understand way. She has so much knowledge of the area, it was like taking a cooking class combined with an anthropology class. If you are looking for something unique/ fun/ interesting to do when you are in Huatulco, check this cooking class out---you will be so glad you did!!

Four of us were lucky enough to take the Mexican Street Food workshop with Jane and her wonderful staff. It was a terrific experience that was only enhanced by Jane's knowledge of the area and her willingness to share that with us. If you are looking for a hands-on experience that is fun and informative and provides you with a glimpse into the authentic Mexico, I would suggest this!
