A fun and unique experience! The food delicious, directions were very clear. We will be able to cook this at home. Everyone had multiple chances to participate. We all leaned a lot and will be taking a slice of Costa Rica with us. It is obvious that Manuel loves to show people how to cook. Pura vida!!!

We had such a wonderful experience at this cooking class! It was held outdoors in a beautiful setting, which made the whole experience feel even more authentic and relaxing. Manuel, the chef, was fantastic — incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and fun...comedian he said 😆 He did an amazing job involving everyone, including our kids, which made it such a memorable family activity. The food was absolutely delicious, and we loved learning how to prepare traditional Costa Rican empanadas together. Manuel made the class engaging and easy to follow, and we really could tell he enjoys sharing his culture and cooking with guests. This is definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking for a fun and unique experience in Nosara area of Costa Rica. Pura Vida for sure!!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our cooking class with John Carlos and Esperanza was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Costa Rica! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like family and created such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Not only did we learn how to prepare authentic Costa Rican dishes, but we also learned so many fascinating facts about Costa Rican culture, ingredients, and traditional cooking techniques. They explained everything in a way that was engaging, hands-on, and easy to follow, making the experience enjoyable for cooks of any skill level. The food was incredible, and those fresh, homemade empanadas were the icing on the cake! They were absolutely delicious and something we'll be talking about long after our vacation. If you're visiting Nosara, don't miss this experience. John Carlos and Esperanza are wonderful hosts, amazing teachers, and genuinely kind people. We left with full stomachs, new skills, and unforgettable memories. Highly recommend! 🇨🇷❤️

Fun and chill activity

This was a low-key, laid back way to make local Costa Rican food and have a good time, too. Jean-Carlos is so chill and friendly. My friend and I had a good time learning how to make empanadas and ceviche. We left with full bellies and a greater appreciation of outdoor kitchen fire cooking. Would definitely recommend!

This is a must do in Nosara! Manuel was so fun! He had our family of 4 (2 teens) all cooking, smiling and even dancing. We had an action packed week in Costa Rica and everyone agreed this was their favorite activity. Plus, the food was awesome!

A Cooking Experience

My sister and I loved our authentic Costa Rican cooking class. The outside kitchen is so cool! The chef, Manuel Antonio, really made our experience. He coached us through all of the meal items, DJd, held conversation and added good humor to the mix. The food and drinks were delicious. We also enjoyed walking around to see the garden and animals.

Learn to make some good food!!

This was an awesome way to spend some time learning to cook/make some Costa Rican foods with authentic ingredients on a wood fire stove. We made heart of palm ceviche, chicken empanadas and yucca chips. We also drank a refreshing mint and limeade. Once finished we ate family style and finished off with a great cup of coffee! Manuel was a great host! Kept things lively and fun! One of the best experiences we had 😊

We had a great and informative time in our cooking class with Manuel! Manuel is very fun, engaging, and very knowledgeable! He kept the class moving and all of us participating the entire time, which made it feel like a party. The empanadas and ceviche we made were wonderful as well as the yummy lime-based drink! Beautiful and lively environment, with the goats, (Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and Tiger Woods :-) and beautiful cat Luki. We would highly recommend having a class with Manuel!

Cooking (and eating!) class with Manuel was great. He was warm and welcoming upon our arrival to the small farm. The traditional outdoor cooking space was ready and stocked, as well as large dining area (all covered) set for the meal. Instruction and hands on participation was so much fun. Learned a lot about local foods and step by step preparation. Made empanadas, pico de gallo, beans, special beverage and Costa Rican coffee. Everything was SO delicious! Highly recommend.

I do cooking classes everywhere I go around the world & this was by far the best one I've ever done. Kevin & Michael were very fun & showed us dishes I've never had before. The ingredients were fresh & everything cooked on a wood fire. Defined put this tour on your list of fun things to do.

From the moment we arrived at the farm for the cooking class, it felt like we were being welcomed into a family home. Kevin and Michael were such wonderful hosts—I can’t recommend them highly enough! The class was not only so much fun, but also an incredible way to learn about Costa Rican food and culture. And the meal itself? Absolutely delicious! It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. We loved our time with Kevin and Michael so much that we booked another adventure with them the very next day—a water safari and rappelling tour—which turned out to be just as amazing. Great immersive experience

This cooking experience was very relaxed and fun. All of the local foods were delicious and interesting to eat. They had several exotic local fruits for us to try. We were able to learn how to prepare plantains two different ways and make empanadas. The property the class is on has pigs goats and kittens. My kids enjoyed seeing and feeding the animals. Wonderful experience with Kevin and Michael

After having a horrible experience on a sunset cruise, we were worried about the quality this activity would be. However, we were so happy we came. Kevin and Michael are extremely friendly, great teachers, and overall joyous. We learned a lot about Costa Rican food, culture, language, and got to eat an amazing meal we made together. We even got a little tour of their farm and had a chance to feed their pigs. This was really an awesome experience and if we come back to the area, we’d love to see more of their farm. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone who is interested in learning about Costa Rican culture!!
