Great time!
Let me start by saying our guides were excellent smart funny and friendly. The horses were not well kept at all, lots of sores and lack of care was evident. Some were very old and extremely skinny, we did not feel good about about after seeing the saddle sores. Very sad!

Our guide was great and very informative about the area. I loved crossing the swinging bridge to get to the waterfall. The authentic Costa Rican lunch was great as were the hot springs and mud bath.

Busy day
Although our tour guy Luis still learning his English, we still have a great time enjoying the hot springs, horse back riding and the short hike to the waterfall. Luis even show us his beautiful hometown and his grandma made us some Costa Rica pancakes to go with coffee. Good tour.

  • Although Miravalles Volcano is technically dormant, steam vents and geysers can still be very hot and should be approached with caution.

  • Bring a swimsuit, towel, and change of clothes if you plan to soak in the mud baths.

  • Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes for hiking and pack a pair of flip-flops for the hot springs.

  • The volcano area does not have any dining facilities, but most day tours include a stop for lunch.
