Avoid the crowds gathered around the Burj Khalifa Lake for the evening Dubai Fountain shows, and get closer up to the dancing waters from a wooden “abra” boat instead. Prebook to secure a preferred time slot, and board a skippered craft to sail around the fountains for approximately 30 minutes. HOTEL TRANSFER ( PICK UP) IS ONLY AVAILABLE IF THE OPTION SELECTED • If TICKET only option selected - please make own arrangement to "At the Top, Burj Khalifa" ticket counter, located on the lower ground level in The Dubai Mall, opposite the food court. • Please note that the "At the Top, Burj Khalifa counter", Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa are all part of the same complex. • Get accurate directions by asking at the Dubai Mall Service Desks or look for signage indicating the direction to the Burj Khalifa. • Please arrive at the redemption point 10 minutes before the scheduled time of your visit to avoid any delays. • If Ticket + Transfer option selected - The time you have selected will be Burj Khalifa visit time and hotel pick up will be 01 hours prior to the selected visit time. • The Hotel pickup is only available from hotels in Dubai – Deira / Bur Dubai / Downtown / Al Barsha/Marina /Jumeirah / Palm Jumeirah area and Dubai Port Rashid Cruise Terminal and Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal. Additional charges applicable to arrange pick up from any other locations. • Please contact us to reconfirm the pick-up time / location and also for the Burj Khalifa Order number / Barcode which you need to present at the “At the Top - Burj Khalifa” ticket counter.

- You will receive an instant confirmation email (VIATOR /TRIPADVISOR VOUCHER) after the booking is made, but it cannot be used to redeem at “At the Top - Burj Khalifa” ticket counter.
- You will receive another separate confirmation PDF voucher from the Tours Operator (Odyssey DMC) by email or by what’s app messenger after the booking is made.
- Please keep only that PDF voucher or 7-digit order number(on your mobile phone is fine) received from the Tours Operator (Odyssey DMC) and show to the staff at the Burj Khalifa entrance / ticket counter along with a valid photo ID for them to scan and collect the physical ticket.
- Please note that during peak tourist season, weekend and public holidays this option will also have some waiting time at the Ticket Counter / Elevator.
- Please arrive at the redemption point 10 minutes before the scheduled time of your visit to avoid any delays.
- Due to high demand, your chosen time slot may not be available: if this happens you will be allocated a new time slot… a new time slot closest to your initially requested time subject to availability”
- Please note: Weather conditions cannot be guaranteed; there is no refund for hazy weather, when visibility would be low
- You can enter only at the time slot you choose, once inside, you can stay for as long as you like
- The booking confirmation is valid only for the specific date and time shown thereon and shall automatically expire upon the lapse of this specific date and time.

I booked the Dubai Lake Ride (Ref 1340003401) as the final highlight of our trip. Viator sent a confirmed ticket, so I reasonably trusted that everything was organised.
What happened instead was an absolute disaster.
1. The operator refused us — said they were full
When we arrived, the local operator told us they had no space.
We showed them our confirmed booking — they still refused us.
2. Viator’s support was even worse
I contacted Viator immediately on WhatsApp:
• I explained we had a confirmed booking
• I told them the operator said we weren’t on the list
• I told them we were physically at the location
• I told them we were devastated, this was our last day
Their responses were slow, dismissive, and robotic.
3. Viator claimed: “We didn’t receive any notification”
Then later changed the story and said the operator told them it was a holiday and the tour was cancelled.
This was completely false — the tour WAS operating, just oversold. I even told Viator that directly.
4. They admitted it was a “system error”
In their own words:
“It was a system error that booking is confirmed but… it is already full.”
So a “confirmed ticket” means absolutely nothing.
5. No attempt to fix the situation
I repeatedly begged them to help:
“PLEASE HELP ME”
“I want to do the activity as paid for”
“This is so sad”
“This is distressing”
“Please try and fix it”
Their answer:
“There’s nothing we can do.”
No backup option, no alternative operator, no compensation. Nothing.
6. The only solution they offered was a refund — in 3–7 business days
We’re in Dubai right now, on our last day.
We needed the money returned immediately so we could book another activity.
Their reply:
“As much as I wanted to return your money immediately I have no access to that.”
So Viator gets to keep our money for a week while providing zero service.
7. This ruined our final day in Dubai
This was supposed to be the final highlight of our trip. Instead we were left stranded with:
• No activity
• No support
• No compensation
• No money returned
• A completely disappointed family
8. Misleading, unprofessional, and unacceptable
Viator sold a “confirmed ticket” for a tour that had no availability.
They then offered no real assistance beyond a delayed refund.
I now understand why so many travellers say Viator is not reliable.
I will be attaching screenshots of the entire WhatsApp chat to show exactly how this unfolded — the lies, the excuses, and the lack of any real help.
Avoid Viator at all costs.
Book directly with reputable local operators or through companies that actually honour their confirmations.
A Nice short boat trip with great foto and video opportunities, but it's a mess trying to retrieve the tickets.
It's better to have a lot of time in advance.

I thought this was a fantastic way of watching the fountains. Really beautiful. Not signed posted very well though. You change your print out or scan at the desk inside, the same desk as "At the top". Then you go outside to the boat.

A great tour, was the perfect amount of time to then head to a nice dinner on the water. Boat wasn't crowded so there was plenty of opportunity to take photos.

Great show, but hardly worth the money or time to wait for your turn to see it slightly closer up. I agree with the previous review that you should expect to wait an hour past your ticket time.
