This desert experience was fun. First we had a photo opportunity riding camels while our driver deflated the tires. Then we went sand bashing driving over the dunes. Next we visited the inland sea where we slid down a dune.

I don’t know where to start but my trip to Qatar was a 20 hour layover from Doha to California and I decided to do this tour almost 4 weeks back (3/17/2025). It was going well until the camel ride which almost cost me my life or would’ve paralyzed me. My camel guide was taking a photo of me and let go of the camel’s string. Camel turned around and started running down the dunes. My camel guide had no idea what to do and didn’t call for help or even run after camel. I was scared for my life and had no choice but to jump off a 7 foot camel. I definitely was injured and had to catch 15.5 hour flight. My god saved me but I was badly bruised, had chest contusion, hips, buttocks contusion, cervical strain, abdominal bruising and bruising on shoulder, legs and left arm. Others part of tour including the driver were helpful and prayed but man only I know how much pain I was in. I took my flight with all the pain killers, heat and ice patches but was admitted to ER as soon as I landed in US. Tour was very unprofessional especially camel guide. I have been on short term disability thanks to this tour. I haven’t been able to go back to work because of this incident. I would like my money back now that I am able to write a review. Honestly, I should have sued the tour company because my parents and family could have lost me if I didn’t take matter in my own hands. I am not sure if Viator vets through the tour companies properly and I am hesitant to book anything via Viator because of my horrible experience.

I have been on 4 similar excursions in both Doha and Dubai, and this was the best. Plenty of time spent dune bashing and driving in the desert, and the camel ride actually was of perfect length. Guide was great, but sometimes hard to hear comments while traveling. All in all, well worth the cost and time.

Everything about the trip was memorable. Our guide was so friendly and accomodating. Ive done this kind of activity before in dubai. This doha desert has something else to offer. This tour company is highly recommended.

Poor communication & bad attitudes

Viator/Falcon tour communication to us & training of its tour guides need improvements. First We were not informed of our tour guide name & got confused when 2 different guides contacted to pick us up from our hotel at 2 different times (8 am & 8:20 am). We thought the same guide changed the pickup time to the latter time so we showed up at 8:20 am. The moment we sat in the car, the guide (Navi sp.?) blamed us for not replying to his email & not being on time. I thought we’d the wrong tour guide but he insisted that it’s correct after showing us our info. We then learned that the tour co might have incorrectly sent 2 tour guides to pick us up. His attitude was bad & rolled his eyes when I tried to make sure we were with the right tour co. The tour started out with the wrong foot & we were trying to make it right by lightened up the mood by chatting with him. He had to give him credits by his skillful driving/bashing on the sand dunes that gave us some excitements & making sure we were all safe. He also helped take some pictures & helped with sand boarding that gave us some fun. On the way back in his car, he asked us to give him a 5* review right there & then. When we hesitated & told him we’d do it later, he insisted, clicked the review link for us & forced us to complete it. We’d to comply as we were afraid of our safety & told him we could only have him 4* to try to appease him. He wasn't happy & didn’t even reply anything when we said thank you to him when he finally dropped us off at our hotel. This whole entire trip were supposed to be fun but got ruined by the tour guide’s attitude towards us!

The experience was great - as long as you read the reviews and know what to expect. The camel ride is just a few minutes - it's literally to take photos and then you're off. We were fine with that. The sand boarding - we were given one to share between two of us. I wouldn't say it was the best, but again, we expected this and were ok with it. The sand bashing in the 4x4 was awesome, and a highlight. and Inland Sea was nice. Our driver/guide was polite and happy to wait for us while we enjoyed. So overall it was a great excursion and gave us exactly what we wanted. No tips are required, everything is included in the price.
