Mixed impression - main problem: lack of information

Well, our impressions from this tour are really mixed. I first of all regret lack of information what you should be prepared for, how does the tour look like, what physical condition you should have, what equipment is needed etc. The tour starts early morning. I was trying to agree on pick up time 3 days in advance. Zero response from the company within 24 hours. After a reminder, the company got in touch with me and we agreed on 4 AM. Evening before I got another message requesting to be ready 3 AM. Another exchange of messages and we got back to the initial agreement I.e. 4 AM. Watching whale sharks is an unforgettable experience but I felt quite uncertain because I had no information how can I take pics under water or someone will take them for us ( still not clear whether you can request/ pay boatmen)? do we need additional equipment (snorkeling masks were provided but the tubes had to be rented, also we had to buy waterproof cases for our cameras because we just noticed other people had them). Boarding the boat for people in their mid 50s like us might be challenging. Same for jumping to the water and getting out of the water to the boat. We managed but someone with worse physical conditions could have had problems. Zero information about requirements concerning physical conditions. 90% of visitors are people in their 20s. The major flop were the sardines and the turtles. We arrived at a place and we were asked whether „ we can swim”? We confirmed and we were given no life jackets. We had no idea what to expect. Will we be put on the boat to swim in a limited area like for sharks or we have to manage swimming all the time with our own muscles??? So we were sent to the sea with no life jackets. My wife grasped the rescue wheel last moment. The entry to the sea was steep and rocky. No way to manage without rubber shoes (no prior information). As expected we were to weak to swim on our own for 20-25 minutes. Snorkeling masks given to us were not very tight and they were taking water quickly (we had no problem with snorkeling masks when watching the sharks). So we finished the experience after 5 minutes (luckily I could hold the rescue wheel of my wife when swimming back). To sum up, it is a very exhaustive trip with 10-11 hours driving on the curved roads, in heavy traffic, in a car with a weak A/C. To me, the combination of sharks and sardines is too much and I would recommend doing both tours separately.

Regarding the activities, we understand that more detailed preparation information would have been helpful. Whale shark watching and the sardine run do involve ocean swimming, and while basic snorkeling masks are provided, items such as snorkel tubes, waterproof phone cases, and aqua shoes are optional rentals available on site. Life jackets are also available upon request for guests who prefer additional support in the water. We appreciate you highlighting the physical aspects of the tour and the long travel time. These tours do involve a full day of travel due to the distance of the destinations, and your feedback will help us improve the pre-tour information we provide so guests can better prepare.
