An eye and heart opening experience here in Cape Town. I can’t recommend the experience enough. To learn about the Townships while visiting one is such a gift when you are guided by Zu and the incredibly hospitable people of Langa. We learned so much and tried to be a part of the development of the Township by purchasing local arts. Really a beautiful experience!

Unforgettable tour

Philip_E, Apr 2026
What can I say about this tour? I guess it is what you imagine it would be like and at the same time, it isn’t. It’s fascinating and surprising on a number of levels. We learned so much about the history of the township and what life is like for the people there. Was worried that we might feel awkward, but we experienced nothing but kindness and warmth. Beforehand, we were worried about safety, but once in, that dissipated. You are totally safe with Mzu and Ox, the guides, who were fantastic. My ten year old made friends and wants to go back!

Mandatory experience for anyone visiting Cape Town!

dianne_h, Jul 2025
I reread the reviews when we returned home because I wanted to see if everyone else was as blown away by their experience as we were…yes! This is a phenomenal tour to get you away from the city and to truly get a sense of what life is like just beyond the city streets. Our guide, Ox, did an incredible job taking us around and sharing his smile and warmth with everyone we met in Langa. You could see how much he was loved and talking with him you understand why. He has a heart of gold and truly cares for the people of Langa and the townships. I teared up many times watching his interactions and listening to his stories of how he’s working with the people of the townships to help make life better there. This experience should be mandatory for anyone visiting Cape Town. Ox, you’re a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you!

History and Contemporary: The Langa township

Alisa_S, Jul 2025
Best tour in South Africa - eye-opening, critical experience to understand historical and contemporary SA. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable - and as a member of the township, he is clearly loved by the township community. For those worried about safety, this tour is for you. There was never a moment that we felt like outsiders or unsafe. Walking around with Ox, we were welcomed by all.

A must while in Cape Town!

Melanie_M, Jun 2025
I cannot recommend this tour enough! I would encourage everyone to experience the townships while in Cape Town. This was the perfect opportunity to see the real South Africa and get an understanding of the reality of how most people live here. The people residing in Langa were all very welcoming and appreciative of the awareness and economic input these tours bring. You got to see how people live in the upper, middle and lower class of Langa, the local businesses, sustainability projects, community development, art projects, and hear about the history. Mzu was such a knowledgeable and welcoming tour guide as he has grown up in and still lives in Langa. Mzu spoke about the charitable work he has done within his community and I was able to see first hand that this tour not only supports him but helps the wider community too. As a solo female traveller I felt safe from start to end. This has been a highlight of my time in Cape Town!

Incredibly humbling , must see experience

Simon_T, Jun 2019
What an amazing day we had with Mzu! From the time he picked us up he was so professional, friendly and informative and taught us so much about Cape Town’s township’s history. Although , much of what we saw was quite shocking, everyone in the townships made us feel so welcome and greeted us with a smile a hand shake, welcomed us into their homes and their pub. There are some brilliant projects going on and an array of locally made crafts to buy but no pressure just appreciation. Thank you Imzu tours , Simon and I are in awe of your hard work and dedication. We will certainly be in touch .

The best tour in Capetown!

Katharina_G, Mar 2026
I thought the tour was incredibly good! Mzu was very polite and humorous, we laughed a lot. At the same time, he informed me very comprehensively about the sad issue of apartheid and introduced me to the culture of the township. The people there were all warm, welcoming and friendly. I really enjoyed the tour. I would highly recommend them!

Super tour avec Mzu !! Il explique très bien et ce tour permet de vraiment comprendre le quotidien des habitants des townships sans être du voyeurisme. Mzu est vraiment génial !!
