This is an excellent tour for anyone even vaguely interested in birds. Alfie is a great guide, nice guy and he really knows his stuff. You don't have to be a hardcore birdwatcher to enjoy the variety of birds (and a few other animals) that you'll encounter on this trip. I was unlucky with the weather (heavy rain) on my day but the tour was still fantastic. If you too are unlucky with the weather, don' worry, you'll still see a whole lot of birds.

Great Birding Tour in Cape Town!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful day birding with Alfie. He is extremely knowledgeable, and he went above and beyond to make certain that we had time to see every possible bird species throughout the day. He also provided a lot of information about the flora we saw at the Gardens. In all, we saw 73 bird species on this winter day. We highly recommend this tour for any bird lover!

We had an outstanding day birding in Cape Town. Alfie was an exceptional guide—friendly, patient, and impressively knowledgeable—able to spot and identify birds with ease and share fascinating insights about their behavior and habitats. Our morning walking around at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden was beautiful and productive. In the afternoon we visited Strandfontein Sewage Works—an unexpectedly superb site for birding despite its surroundings—and it delivered fantastic wetland and wader sightings, including flamingos which we did not expect. Altogether we recorded over 80 species, making the tour both rewarding and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cape Town who wants an expert-led, top-quality birding experience.

A wonderful day with Alfie. Spent 3-4 hours in Kirstenbosch in the morning - beautiful gardens and lots of birds to be seen. Lunch at the tearooms was lovely and very reasonable. The afternoon driving round the various ponds around the sewage works was fantastic - loads of wetland birds including flamingoes and a nesting Sacred Ibis colony. I am a novice birder but am hooked!

First birding tour

It was a great tour, we enjoyed our first birding tour! Alfie knows all the birds and is the best guide! We saw 63 different birds in 8h. Most of them had beautiful colour, were endemic to the western cape, rapors, or were had something else interesting. We definitely got now the birding fewer and also try some back home.
