We really enjoyed the African Dinner and Drum experience. We were given our own drums and participated in a group drumming jam, it was so much fun. We loved the 14 course meal and experiencing such unique cuisine. The servers, dancers and performers were all amazing people and exhibited such talent and hospitality. I would definitely recommend this experience if you get the chance, and come hungry!

This 14 course dinner was a fun way to explore some of African culture. The food was tasty and all the various dishes were explained to us and from which region they were part of. The drumming was a very fun activity. All the diners were involved. It was quite an experience to have the entire (large) room participate. Dancing and singing were also part of the entertainment. There was also optional face painting. I would recommend this activity - good food and fun and an easy way to learn a bit about African culture.

This was a very entertaining evening. The venue was exciting to look at and the performers were great. It was especially surprising and nice to have the performers come up to the balcony level to drum and dance right in front of us! A colorful and energizing experience. The meal was not quite as good as the entertainment, in my opinion; I expected to enjoy it more. It tasted just okay, but was plentiful and the service was very good. Overall, I would recommend doing this.

We arrived early and were seated. The first part of the show was full audience participation. We each had our own drums and were led through several drumming sequences. Very energetic. During dinner the show continued on stage and at various locations around the venue. Lots of fun. They provided about 20 varieties of food each served family style so you got to taste many different dishes. Most of it was very good and we were very full. Would recommend for a nice evening.

Bring friends and share this fun interactive evening. The drumming lesson set the tone for the evening. Fun, laughter, and entertaining!
The dancing, singing and theatrics were exceptional. The food was also delicious. It is a long night but worth it!

If you have a free night in Cape Town this is a must do. The performance is part interactive and we enjoy every minute of it. The show altogether was great and the artists very good and friendly. The 14 course sample menu was very good, perfect portions and served at the right temperature along with all the explanations. Everyone was friendly and you feel included in a large family. We were very happy we chose to do this tour. We highly recommend it

Hot… Drumming was absolutely a hit! Very engaging and entertaining.

This was amazing! The dinner was spectacular and the African drumming and show was great! We were even a bit late for our ride due to another tour getting us back late and they still got us to the show and dinner!

This is a must do experience when visiting Cape Town. We were entertained from the moment we entered the front door. You feel like you’re getting the full African experience with the face painting and drumming experience. It was so much fun. The food was delicious and plentiful, the drinks were very reasonably priced and the staff were amazing.
I’d definitely come back here on my next visit.

Brilliant show, get to get involved wirh the drumming etc, the waiters/waitresses are sp pleasant & helpful, 14 courses!!!! And they explained everyone, when I said I don't eat fish, she remembered & brought me the vegetarian option, unfortunately couldn't eat them all as I'm a complete wuss when it comes to spices, so to hot for me, bur was still full after not eating 6 of the dishes!!!! Wonderful atmosphere, and marvelous price, and the pick up/ drop off went without a hitch, I can't rate this highly enough 👍

We had such a great night at GOLD Restaurant. The whole experience kicked off with a drumming lesson, and it was honestly way more fun than expected. Everyone in our group got into the experience. Even if you’ve never touched a drum before, they make it super easy—and the energy in the room is contagious.
The Afrikaans and African entertainment throughout the evening was amazing. The performers were so talented, and the music and dancing made the whole night feel really special.
And the food… wow. Every course was delicious. It was the kind of meal where you keep saying “okay, THIS one is my favorite,” and then the next dish comes out and changes your mind again.
Such a fun, unique night out. Highly recommend if you want great food, great vibes, and a little cultural adventure mixed in.

The drumming show and dinner were excellent. The staff at the Gold Restaurant were very attentive. The only negative was the transportation to and from the dinner. Our driver picked us up 20 minutes late and then drove past the restaurant out of the way to pick up others. We arrived at the show almost 30 minutes late after the show had already started. We were seated upstairs in the back where we could not see because all the seats on the main floor were taken by guests who arrived on time. After the show and dinner, our driver was not there to take us back to the hotel. The restaurant manager had to get us a ride.

I know Gold’s is a touristy spot but I highly recommend going. We were warmly welcomed and seated immediately and our drink orders taken. Shortly thereafter the entertainment began and we were included. Every seat had their own drum and we helped provide the beat for the opening program. So much fun. At 1st when I heard that a 14 course dinner was going to be served I was a little concerned about eating so much but each course was a perfect tasting size. It allowed me to try so many different things without getting overly full. The dishes were tasty and served at the temperature that they should be. The wait staff were very friendly, helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. They were always checking in on us. The main entertainment was fantastic. The female African dancers were great. We couldn’t believe how well they performed for us much less the multiple other areas thruout the restaurant that the performed in. I LOVED the Africa map in the lobby that showed the staff and where each of them were from. I’m so glad we did this.

This dinner was one of the highlights of my 2 week trip to South Africa. The food was delicious, the entertainment was beyond amazing and so much fun. The staff were warm & welcoming….& I was picked up and dropped off at my hotel too. This is a must do while in Cape Town but book early as it does sell out!

I know I am probably going to mess his name up but Prulele was an amazing server. He was very attentive and aware of our needs. He explained every course in detail and had answers to questions we had. Also, the drumming portion of the night and the constant songs and dances were great during dinner. Since we live Hawai’i, this was an equivalent of our luaus.
