Catalina was a very good teacher. Both friendly and informative. She made learning the tango easy for everyone

This was such a fun evening! Cata gave wonderful instruction in made it easy to learn. The homemade empanadas were delicious and we enjoyed the conversation and wine as well.

Catalina was in touch before the class to check we had all the information we needed.
We were a small group (6of us) in a dance studio set above a bar in central BA.
Catalina was lovely, she was unhurried and put us all at ease before teaching us the tango, from how the locals dance to the traditional tango. What can you do in one session but amazingly we were all dancing tango around the room by the end of the session.
Then we sat, ate some empanadas and drank 2 sorts of wine, and just chatted about life, Buenos Aires and dancing.
It was very special. We would definitely recommend this experience.

This was so fun and a wonderful experience for us to learn a little bit more about tango. The instructor made it so much fun and was incredibly easy going. We all laughed and had a great time.
The empanadas and wine were a great treat!

Enjoyable evening - we were one of 5 couples. It was very relaxed
There is a bar downstairs that had live music afterwards you can go to if you wanted.
Meat or veggie empenadas avaliable.

Very nice experience- learned a few tango steps and the basics to be able to tango in town. Some wine and empanadas after. The building is a cool cultural center

Great fun for a first timer, you don’t need any prior dancing skills. Catalina is a great teacher, who we then enjoyed and empanada and a wine with at the end of the class.

We had a fabulous time. Catalina was a kind and patient teacher who made tango accessible and fun. After our lesson we shared delicious empanadas and wine. Catalina answered questions about Buenos Aires neighborhoods, architecture, history and all things Tango.

Disappointing.
I only wanted to summarize the review to one word but as you ask for more, here we go.
I can understand an emergency cancellation. I would hope the service provider is also considerate of my time. When you ask for 24 hours cancellation policy to protect the business, you should apply the exact same policy to protect the customer. As time is the hottest commodity, cancelling a scheduled and confirmed event 4 hours before the start time is in inconsiderate, in my opinion.

Fantastic introduction to Tango, Catalina was amazing, removing any nervousness and putting us at ease from the start. Wonderful homemade empanadas, wine, and conversation to follow. Highly recommend!

I booked this tango lesson at the last minute and received a message from the instructor about 90 minutes before the scheduled time, informing me that she was not in town. The time slot was still open for booking, so I ended up wasting an evening I had planned around this activity. In addition, she didn’t offer a refund directly — instead, I had to go through Viator’s process, and I still haven’t received the refund. It would be more professional to block off unavailable time slots and issue immediate refunds in such cases.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Hi Fai, i m so sorry for this inconveniente. I texted you as soon i saw your booking, and i saw it on my e mail around 5:30. Maybe you booked earlier but i got it 90 minutes before the experience. Unfortunelly i wasn t there so i offer to move. As you coulnd i texted you for the refund. I cases like this the refund is process by Viator, that s why i told you to do it. Viator text me right in the moment, and i said yes, so the refund it s in they way.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience. I could block the schedule, you are right.
I didn t know that you had things planned around this experience, because you booked on the last moment, but i could give you some recomendations. Some times when things like this happens people ask me what to do and i send them many options.
Hope the rest of your trip is going better
Regards!

We had a blast trying tango. Catalina broke it down into simple pieces, and we really felt like we were getting the hang of it. She is very patient & encouraging. The wine & empanadas at the end were a great bonus, plus the videos. (We look pretty good 🤩). Then we went to a milonga to try it with a live band. Super fun!!!

Great experience with a great local teacher. Finished the session talking over a bottle of wine & empanadas. The lovely host was flexible with scheduling and also just a joy to meet. Highly recommend for all to try for a fun beginners entry to the fun of tango! Thank you!!

Catalina is a warm teacher and person - we had a lovely time and would recommend this to everyone considering a tango class!

This was a fun and enlightening introduction to the Tango. Catalina, our teacher is also a University professor of history and was able to add an historical perspective on an art form that has earned a special place in the cultural identity of Argentinians.
Steph_G, Dec 2024
My sister and I had a fantastic time at our Tango Lesson with Catalina. We learned the basics and also had a great conversation about the cultural significance of Tango for Argentina. The Tango is so tied to the history of Argentina and the identity of Argentines. It was a valuable experience and fun, too! Catalina is a great instructor, and she provided wine and empanandas for afterward. You can't go wrong with this experience.

Catalina is an amazing teacher, she took us through the basic steps of Tango - it was my first ever dance lesson and it’s made me want to take more. We felt very comfortable and I was much less self-conscious than I thought I’d be. After the dancing we had a really interesting conversation over wine and empanadas about Argentina’s culture and politics - would definitely recommend to everyone

Besides the city tour, this Tango lesson was the highlight of our trip. Catalina has such a passion for tango. She has studied the dance for 25+ years and teaches from an understanding standpoint. This isn’t the frilly tango class that you see from the TV, this is authentic, passionate and a great workout. I’m not a dancer, but she made me feel comfortable and I actually learned/practiced in the Airport the next day. The location is awesome, a jazz club was under it and we stayed and listened to music after the lesson was over. PLEASE SEE CATALINA!

Catalina was a great teacher! I would highly recommend this experience. I was a little worried to take a tango class because my husband can't dance ... But Catalina was patient and by the end of the class we were comfortable and having fun. The empanadas and wine were great as well. We also learned a lot about the city from Catalina, she gave us a lot of great recommendations. She is very knowledgeable and explained the history of tango and the city! Also, LGBTQ friendly!

Methodic professional first lesson training. Very nice experience. Highly recommended. Nice combination with the wine and empanadas
Suze_V, May 2024
Catalina was absolutely amazing, built up the tango in really nice steps and adapted to our level. Very friendly, had a lovely chat with her after and got lots of great trips. Would highly recommend

This was an extraordinary experience. Catalina is a great tango teacher, put us at ease immediately, and made us feel so welcome and relaxed. Neither my husband nor I are dancers, but I really wanted to learn to dance the tango. At the end of the beautiful, memorable lesson, we were dancing well enough to continue dancing at home or even in the center of the dance floor of a milonga. Catalina served us wine and empanadas afterwards, and we spent a happy half hour learning more about Argentina from her. What a delightful, amazing experience! Thank you, Catalina, for the lesson , patience, fun attitude, and the videos you took of us! We’d love to come back and see you again😀

Teacher was the best! She also had a lot of information about Buenos Aires. Things to see and things to do. We all were very impressed by her!
Shammy_K, Feb 2024
This was a brilliant experience. My family and I loved the time we spent with Catalina. She is an excellent teacher who made us so comfortable and taught us some basic tango steps. She is so friendly and personable that she put our nerves at ease straight away. She also took pictures and videos and text them to us so we had the memories to look back on. Drinking wine, sharing empanadas and getting to know each other after was so nice. I would highly recommend this experience!
